Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The Full Moon this month comes with an additional wallop due to the fact it's also a lunar eclipse with the New Moon wielding a similar punch with a solar eclipse.  While lunations have a lingering effect on the order of a month or so, eclipses can hang in there for over a year, so you may not see what it did for a while; on the other hand, sometimes it's apparent before they even occur.  On the other hand, while even the ancients recognized that eclipses frequently had dramatic effects, in some instances they can come and go unnoticed.  However, by noting which House they occurred in you can usually get an idea of what to look for, particularly when you factor in its general character.  The Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon on July 7 occurs in Capricorn, your 9th House of higher learning, foreign travel, relocation, legal matters, beliefs and expectations, and cultural interactions.  The Solar Eclipse on the 21st is in Cancer, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys.  Thus, look to these parts of your life for its effects to manifest.

Eclipses come in series that are part of a family that makes an appearance every 18 years plus 9 - 11 days to compensate for leapyears.  Each series has it's own general influence, its signature if you will.  The eclipses this month are part of the 11 South family of the Saros series, a pattern that was recognized by the Babylonians around the 4th century B.C.  In fact, they were accurately predicting them around 700 B.C.  The Greek lexicographer, Suidas, named them Saros in the 10th century A.D. which means repetition or repeated.  Thus, if you think back to 1991, whatever was going on in your life at that time is likely to be repeated in some manner now.  The basic influence of this series is to institute sudden reforms.  Old methods fail with new systems required for existing problems.  Any obstacles could be removed suddenly and forcibly.  So keep this in the back of your mind, that things are going to change abruptly and new approaches are needed.  This isn't exactly something that a Fixed Sign like Taurus wants to hear.  Nonetheless, if you want to make progress at all it will be necessary for you to comply because the Universe is going to prevail.

Like any family member, each eclipse is also unique in some way, due to the aspects that accompany it.  For the Lunar Eclipse on the 7th, one aspect to consider is a Triangle of Potential created by Saturn in Virgo who's sextile the Sun and trine the Moon.  Virgo represents your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, ego expression and speculation.  This is normally a fairly pleasant abode, but Saturn isn't exactly fun company to entertain.  Saturn is all about responsibility, obligations, restrictions, delays, authority and structure.  However, a ToP is a generally favorable configuration that mediates an opposition, in this case between the Sun and Moon.  This month's eclipses are hitting your 3rd/9th Axis which largely involves what you think and believe.  They both also involve travel, one local, the other more distant.  If there's a dialog between your thoughts and beliefs that goes back and forth a bit, then Saturn can stabilize it through your 5th House.  This also suggests that your thoughts and beliefs are oscillating regarding one of those 5th House elements, whether it's your children, love interests, or creative endeavors.  For example, the greatest art, literature and music are an expression of our beliefs, so if you're a creative sort, this eclipse could prove very fruitful.

Another aspect inherent in this eclipse is a quincunx between Venus and Pluto.  Venus is in Gemini, your 2nd House of finances, possessions, needs, and pleasures and Pluto is also in your 9th House along with the eclipse.  A quincunx usually delivers a Catch-22 or the need for an adjustment of some sort.  Your Sign Ruler, Venus, in your 2nd House, which Taurus rules on the zodiacal level, is certainly not a bad place to start, but Pluto will be exhuming various beliefs for review or perhaps as they say in the aerospace world, an R&R, meaning remove and replace.  Pluto will also be digging up anything else in that neighborhood that needs clean up or remodeling.  If there's something in that part of your life that requires money, and very little doesn't, then it looks like you're going to have to adjust a few things.

An ongoing aspect that's been out there for quite a while now is that triple conjunction between Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron.  This stellium is camped out in Aquarius, your 10th House of career, reputation, public image and status.  If you've been indecisive about what you want to be when you grow up or where you want to go with your existing career, you can probably blame this trio of confusion, each of whom is now retrograde, driving the energy to your unconscious.  Jupiter retrograde usually involves ethics in some way; Neptune tends toward idealism but can also dissolve what he touches; and Chiron, the wounded healer, can bring injury or healing to either you or someone else.  Throw these all together in your 10th House and there's no telling what you could come up with.  Needless to say, there have been a lot of ethical issues out there in the world relative to large corporations.  It's clear that they've involved ethics (or the lack thereof), corporations have evaporated before our eyes, and the fact that it has caused injury of one sort or another to the multitudes goes without saying.  Even if you're entirely innocent and simply doing you job day to day, you may find yourself unwittingly and unwillingly involved in something similar.  You're not likely to have clear direction where you want to go career-wise, though you may be drawn toward a discipline ruled by one of those three planets such as law (Jupiter), oceanography (Neptune) or medicine (Chiron).  Confusion or a lack of realism are also possible.

Interacting with this stellium is Mars who's throwing a square in that direction from Taurus, your 1st House.  This could represent resistance on your part or drive to move forward, which is akin to trying to run in a swimming pool or a belly-flop dive.  Moving through water in an expeditious manner can be accomplished, but it required certain techniques that aren't necessary on land.  Let me remind you again of the theme of this eclipse and the need to find new methods; identifying or moving forward in your career is undoubtedly one of those areas where this will apply, which will originate in your thoughts and beliefs, which drive your actions.

The New Moon/Solar Eclipse on July 21 is in Cancer, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, and so forth.  It has some interesting aspects as well.  For one thing, Uranus in Pisces, your 11th House of friends, coworkers, groups, and organizations is in trine with the Moon/Sun conjunction, implying some unexpected events or surprises from that part of your life that will have a positive effect on what you're thinking.  Pluto is quincunx the Sun/Moon from your 9th House of beliefs, implying a deep, forensic analysis of your existing beliefs will result in some adjustments.  There's also a square between Venus in your 2nd House of finance and possessions and Saturn in your 5th house of children, romance, and creativity.  A square brings a crisis or conflict of some description, which isn't too hard to imagine where your finances and those 5th house elements such as children are concerned.  Here's another place where new methods are certainly worth a try.  Mars is sextile Mercury, implying thoughts or ideas related to your home environment are going to bring some financial opportunities your way.  Again, think reforms and new methods.

Daily and Short-term Aspects

July 1-2 has both Mercury and Venus messing with that stellium in your 10th House of career and reputation.  In other words, thoughts about money and how it relates to your personally are going to be prodding those possibilities for career expansion, though they may not be returning any solid information, even though some surprises are unexpected events from your friends or coworkers are egging you on.  On July 3 Mercury goes into Cancer, which will help stimulate your thought processes in general.  On July 4th Mercury opposes Pluto, which will further stimulate an assessment of your beliefs with some new thoughts.  (By the way, while Pluto is in your 9th House, which will be the case for several years to come, this will give you a great deal of discernment with regard to any 9th House element.  For example, if you travel to a foreign country you will find yourself seeing and understanding things at a level beyond what most people would notice.)

On July 5 Venus goes into Gemini, your 2nd House of finance and possessions, which is a rather nice placement that should help you figure out what to do in this part of your life.  On July 7 the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse occurs, so see above for the aspects and their influences on that day, which of course are going to linger for quite a while.  On July 9 the Sun sextiles Saturn, bringing some financial opportunities your way, perhaps as a result of your creative efforts.   On the 10th you may have a flash of inspiration with respect to your career goals and by the 14th it may congeal into some solid ideas.  Meanwhile on the 11th Mars joined Venus in Gemini, your 2nd House of finance, bringing some drive and energy to that part of our horoscope.  On the 14th Mars will quincunx Pluto, necessitating some adjustments to your material aspirations based on your beliefs or perhaps something else in the 9th House venue that will demand some financial backing such as pursuing your education or a trip abroad.

Meanwhile between July 15 - 16 Mercury will be generating more information that will cause either a Catch 22 or more adjustments to those career goals and any obstacles in your way; remember, however, what this eclipse has to say about obstacles.  Expect surprises and disruptions from other people throughout the month, by the way, particularly in this part of your life.  Mercury goes into Leo, your 4th House of home environment on July 17, increasing the activity level there and also stimulating your thoughts in that regard.  Between July 18 - 19 the Sun gets in the act, but he's going to simply cause more adjustments as the light penetrates some of the fog surrounding your career.  Change is becoming apparent, like it or not.  Mercury sextiles Mars on July 20, bringing a financial opportunity that relates to your home in some way.  The New Moon/Solar Eclipse occurs on the 21st along with all those aspects described above.

The Sun goes into Leo on the 22nd, shifting the limelight to your home environment.  More deep consideration of your beliefs is required with appropriate adjustments in your best interest.  Financial considerations as they relate to your career aspiration should be shaping up between July 27 - 28 with more discussions coming from the home front which might not be entirely supportive the last few days of the month.  Venus goes into Cancer, improving your chances for arriving at a positive decision, on July 31.

Clearly career issues are a big one for you these days.  Confusion and perhaps some unrealistic ideas have probably been in your way for several months.  Use the power of these eclipses to break through any barriers and get yourself headed in the right direction.
