Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The Full Moon on July 7 and New Moon on July 21 have a special surprise this month in that they also include a Lunar and Solar eclipse, respectively.  This gives them a whole bunch more punch which can last over a year; in fact, it can even tip its hand prior to the actual eclipse.  This one hails from the Saros Series family known as 11 South and its primary theme is that of sudden reforms.  Methods that have worked in the past will fail and new ones will have to be devised to be effective.  If there are any obstacles in the way, they could be removed not only suddenly but forcefully.  This applies to the world-at-large as well as individual lives.  Eclipses can be extremely unpredictable in their effects; sometimes they're dramatic and other times uneventful.  However, a very strong clue regarding where they'll manifest in your life is provided by the House in which they occur.  In this case the Lunar Eclipse/Full Moon occurs in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys and the Solar Eclipse/New Moon takes place in fellow Water Sign, Cancer, your 9th House of higher learning, long distance travel, legal matters such as contracts, relocation, beliefs and expectations, as well as cultural interactions.  Thus, look to these two areas for changes or the necessity of such as suggested by the theme of sudden reforms.

Every family has certain characteristics that affect all its members, yet each is unique in some way; this is also true for eclipses.  While they carry the original flavor of the first in the series, subsequent ones will carry influences from the aspects that accompany them.  The Full Moon on the 7th has numerous aspects worth noting that may provide further hints in what to look for.  First of all is a Triangle of Potential formed by Saturn making a sextile to the Sun and trine to the Moon.  This serves to mitigate their opposition by providing a pivot point for negotiations.  Saturn is in Virgo, your 11th House of groups, friends, hopes and wishes, coworkers, and organizational ties.

Saturn is a stuffy ol' planet who carries such joyful things as responsibility, obligations, authority, delays, restrictions, hard lessons, and structural elements.  With him transiting your 11th House this could mean that he has awakened your sense of social responsibility, driving you to participate in one or more organizations that promotes a cause with which you're sympathetic.  It could also mean that you take a hard look at your friends or coworkers and decide you need new ones.  It could also be encounters with an authority figure if you've misbehaved in some way.  All in all, not exactly happy stuff.  However, considering that the subject lunar eclipse is spanning your 3rd and 9th Houses of thoughts and beliefs, respectively, it makes sense that you would express these by associating with like-minded people.  If you haven't yet done so, maybe that's something that's just around the corner, some new method to effect changes you have that typical Scorpio passion about.

Another aspect to consider is a quincunx between Venus in Gemini, your 8th House of sex, death, transformations, other people's money and shared resources (a.k.a. debt) and your Sign Ruler, Pluto in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts and so forth noted earlier.  A quincunx usually hails a Catch-22 situation or need for an adjustment or justification.  With Pluto in your 3rd House you are a Scorpio on steroids.  Typically you can flush out any secret, sense a cop with your internal radar from two miles away, and spontaneously provide a forensic analysis on just about any subject.  With Pluto now in residence, you can, as Emeril would say, kick that up a notch.  Heaven help the world, particularly your enemies.  The implications of this aspect is that something you discern is going to have a transformational effect on you.  With Venus, who rules both money and love, in your 8th House of sex and other people's money, there's no telling what you'll figure out, but it will change you at a deep and lasting level.

Another major aspect to keep an eye on is that stellium comprising Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, who are all conjunct and retrograde in Aquarius, your 4th House of home environment.  Being retrograde, this will internalize their energy, but this is such a weird trio there's no telling how that will come out.  While retrograde Jupiter is usually about ethics; Neptune tends to dissolve anything he touches, though he also messes with delusions and illusions in his spare time, and Chiron, the wounded healer, can bring injury or relief, to either you or someone else.  Put them all together in your 4th House and could could have just about anything from delusions of grandeur in remodeling your home that bite your wallet, hard, to other self-delusions that have an injurious effect.  (If anyone in your household is trying to put one over on you, more than likely you'll catch on in short order, thanks to Pluto as noted above.)  No one is going to successfully deceive you, but you could do so to yourself.

Also associated with this interesting stellium is Mars, your ancient Sign Ruler, who's throwing a square their way from Taurus, you're 7th House of relationships.  I know of at least one Scorpio where the effect of this is obvious in that they're dealing with an ex who's an Aries who is having a disruptive effect on their homelife.  Thus, it's apparent that someone you're close to could be stirring things up, either with delusions or other hurtful antics, that will affect your home environment.  With this incorporated into an eclipse, it will probably last for a while so brace yourself.  Another one to note is that Mars is sextile Uranus in Pisces, your 5th House of children, romance, creativity, speculation, and ego expression.  This implies that something unexpected is on the way with your children, love interests, or perhaps a creative effort that will have an affect on those relationship issues.

The New Moon/Solar Eclipse on July 21 leaves that stellium to stew on its own over there in Aquarius, but the Sun/Moon pair in Cancer, your 9th House of higher learning, long distance travel, cultural matters, etc. is trine Uranus in Pisces.  If your birthday happens to fall between November 17 - 24th then you'll be dealing with a Grand Water Trine that is undoubtedly going to do something noticeable to your life that should be positive in nature.  Do the mix and match between 5th House and 9th House matters and see what you come up with.  Another aspect the Sun/Moon is making is a quincunx to your buddy, Pluto.  This appears to call for an adjustment of some description to your beliefs based on something you've recently devised or figured out.  Yet another aspect is a square between Venus and Saturn in your 9th and 11th House, respectively.  This suggests a crisis of some sort between your beliefs and expectations, perhaps about love, and your responsibilities to your friends, coworkers, or an organization.

Co-ruler Mars is sextile Mercury in Leo, your 10th House of career and reputation, so an idea or news that represents an opportunity and could mean a transformational change may be in work as well.  This certainly gives you plenty to think about and keep in mind the theme of these eclipses.  As a Fixed Sign you don't accept change easily, but the overarching message is that old methods no longer work and reforms are needed.  Furthermore, consider that if you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got.

Daily and Short-Term Aspects

The first few days of July see Venus and Mercury prodding that stellium in Aquarius and tickling Uranus as well, throwing some surprises in the mix.  This is going to stir things up at home, in your relationships and start moving you toward some of those transformations.  Remember that Scorpio rules the zodiacal 8th House, so this is a comfortable and familiar place for you.  On July 3 Mercury goes into Cancer, bringing data and news your way relative to your 9th House of higher learning, long journeys, relocation, core beliefs, and so forth; politics and religion also reside in this house, for what its worth.  Mercury opposes Pluto on the 4th of July, which will undoubtedly mean some extremely deep thought, even for a Scorpio, and reveal something very interesting in that 9th House.  On the 5th Venus goes into Gemini, bringing her blessings to your 8th House of sex and transformations.  I'm sure you Scorpios will know exactly what to do with that one.

Between July 6 - 7 Mars will be messing with that stellium as described earlier for the lunar eclipse, which occurs on the 7th, along with all those other things noted above.  On the 9th the Sun sextiles Saturn, another aspect discussed in regard to the lunar eclipse.  On the 10th Jupiter and Neptune are exactly conjunct, which could bring a flash of inspiration relative to your home environment or conversely a bubble of delusion or idealism could burst.  It's worthy of note that when these two planets get together that it can also mean embezzlement, but I imagine that it would be pretty hard to embezzle anything from a Scorpio, especially one who's mental prowess is on astrological steroids.

Mars goes into Gemini on the 11th, bringing more energy to your 8th House.  Be careful, however, because Mars in the 8th has been known to predispose people to accidents and various other unpleasantries.  If you have any kind of money problems, and few don't these days, this could also indicate an attack by one of your creditors.  Mercury sextiles Saturn on the 12th, which will bring some opportunities to express your beliefs to a friend or coworker.  A brainstorm is due on the 14th regarding your beliefs or perhaps one of those other 9th House elements that has relevance currently, such as going back to school, taking a long trip, or a contract.  That same day deep thoughts and discernment of something else at a subterranean level will further affect you in a significant manner.  July 15 - 16 Mercury will be bringing news from your 9th House that will affect your home environment.  This could be just about anything from a legal matter or contract to a core belief or relocation.  Whatever it is, it's going to require some adjustments or result in a Catch-22 where you're damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Mercury goes into Leo on the 17th, stirring up news and data in your 10th House of career and reputation.  From July 17 - 19 the Sun will be throwing some light on that same 9th House issue that is affecting your home life, perhaps forcing you to deal with it more directly than you've been doing up until now.  As a Fixed Sign that doesn't care for change, you also tend to procrastinate but the Universe is not going to be very supportive of that approach.  More career news that is going to have considerable impact is on the way on the 20th, then on the 21st there's that New Moon/Solar Eclipse to contend with.

The Sun goes into Leo on the 22nd, bringing more emphasis to your career and reputation.  On the 23rd the Sun will help you flush out some more information on this same subject.  Venus will be interacting with whatever is going on in your home environment from her place in your 8th House of sex, death, other people's resources, debt and transformation on the 27th.  On July 30 - 31 Mercury will oppose that stellium messing with your home life which will perhaps result in a showdown that involves your career as well.  On the 31st Venus moves into Cancer, your 9th House, which is already pretty active, but her presence is bound to be positive.

This is going to be an exceptionally active and interesting month.  You'll be in true form and while Uranus is certainly throwing out plenty of surprises, disruptions and unexpected events, it's pretty hard to sneak up on a Scorpio.  Above all else, remember the theme of these eclipses and the fact that reforms are needed and new methods the only way to get where you want to go.
