Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the Full and New Moon each come with a special bonus, i.e. an eclipse. This gives them an additional punch that allows them to last for months and sometimes even be felt before the fact. The Lunar Nodes, or the location where the Moon's orbit intersects the ecliptic (the path of the Earth around the Sun), are a very sensitive location of any horoscope and when a Full or New Moon occurs within a certain number of degrees from these Nodes you get an eclipse; the closer it is to exact, the more complete the eclipse. While eclipses may appear random, each one is actually part of a "family" that repeats every 18 years plus 9-11 days which account for the leap years involved. Believe it or not, this was discovered by the Babylonians back around 747 B.C. and per Bernadette Brady in her book Predictive Astrology: The Eagle and the Lark, they were named the "Saros Series" by the Greek lexicographer Suidas in the 10th century A.D. I'll spare you all the details of why they're considered a series and refer you to Bernadette's book if you really want all the gory details. About all you need to know is that each family has it's own characteristics, just as our human families do. The eclipses this month are part of the Saros Series known as 11 South and their influence tends to bring about sudden reforms. Old methods fail and new systems are required to handle existing problems. Furthermore, any obstacles in the way could be suddenly and forcefully removed. So this is the general character to watch for, bearing in mind that the effect of eclipses can last a year or more. Of course this is all well and good but what you want to know is where this is going to show up in your life. That is going to be determined by the natal house in which the eclipse falls. Since I can't possibly know every reader's ascendant, for the purposes of these horoscopes I use a whole house Sun Sign system where your first house is your Sun Sign and it starts at zero degrees of that sign. Occasionally I get personal and point out when some influence is going to register a direct hit to someone's natal Sun based on their birthday, but that's as far as it goes. I have found that this "Sun Sign" system works quite well for events that are out of your immediate influence and control. However, to get another perspective, if you know your ascendant, read the horoscope for that Sign as well. The beauty of astrology is that those events that are extremely important in a person's life will show up in so many ways that they're almost impossible to miss. You may not be able to tell exactly what is going to happen, but you can certainly see that something is going on in a certain area of your life. So, that said, let's move on to how this eclipse is going to strike the generic Pisces and also note it's unique characteristics as determined by the aspects that accompany it. For the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on July 7 the Sun is in Cancer, your 5th House of creativity, ego, romance and speculation, and the Moon is in Capricorn, your 11th House of groups, friends, organizations, and hopes and wishes, which is where you're most likely to see the effects of this eclipse. If you think back about 18 years to 1991 and what was going on at that time, you can get some idea of how this eclipse will play out. If your birthday is within a few days of March 6, the effects are likely to be more noticeable. One of the aspects that will color this eclipse is a Triangle of Potential created by Saturn with the opposing Sun and Moon. In other words, Saturn is in a position where he forms a sextile to the Sun and a trine to the Moon, two favorable aspects that will help mediate the opposition. Saturn is currently transiting Virgo, your 7th House of relationships, with the implications that someone close to you, whether it's your significant other, business partner, close friend or relative, or even cliental if you're in business for yourself, will be the key to resolving any challenges that involve those people who reside in your 11th House such as friends, coworkers, and other group associations. Another aspect worth noting is a quincunx between Venus and Pluto. Venus is in Gemini, your 4th House of home environment and Pluto is in Capricorn, your 11th House. A quincunx usually brings a Catch-22 situation that has no easy solution but requires an adjustment of some sort. This implies that your involvement with your family members versus your involvement with others is up for review. Pluto is busy dredging up any issues related to your friends or "others" that require attention while Venus is bringing favorable vibes to your home life. Thus, if you've been overly involved with some outside organization or group that has taken you away from your home life, now is the time to assess whether it was worth it or not and any repairs that may need to be made at home. Conversely, maybe you have something unique to contribute to the world and it's time to get more involved in the community in some way which will mean spending less time at home. Either way, adjustments will be required that you'll need to work out; failure to do so could have unhappy consequences. And don't forget to bear in mind the overall theme of this eclipse of "sudden reforms." Jupiter, Neptune and Chiron are still hanging out together in Aquarius, your 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, dreams, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and the collective consciousness. This stellium has been there for quite a while and currently all three of them are retrograde, driving their energy inward. Jupiter inflates and expands, Chiron is the "wounded healer" and Neptune, your Sign Ruler, rules the zodiacal 12th House and is associated with inspiration, deception, drugs, poison, and all sorts of woo-woo stuff. Thus, you have a lot of weird things going on in this part of your life that is largely hidden, unless you have some involvement with hospitals or prisons. If so, then the association should be obvious, but if not, its effects will be much more subtle. About the best thing I can advise is that you pay attention to your spiritual health, find appropriate escapes to properly manage your stress level, and recognize that something is going on over there in the next dimension. As if that's not enough, however, for this Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse Mars is throwing a square to the entire trio from your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys. Mars can bring a lot of energy to your mental plane, but it's effect could be greatly clouded by its connection with this woo-woo stellium. Neptune tends to dissolve things, so if you're trying to get an idea off the ground there's a chance that Neptune will be sabotaging it by blurring your thoughts, leading your mind on strange excursions to other worlds, and keeping you from what you'd like to accomplish. If you're away of this influence, you can potentially reverse it by focusing on the Mars energy and drawing some inspiration into your current project and utilizing all that other worldly stuff in a practical way. Uranus in your 1st House is also throwing a bunch of disruptions, distractions, and interruptions in the mix as well, however, so good luck with that. If your birthday is right around March 17 you're really going to be caught in the middle of all this and find it hard to focus, make up your mind, or accomplish what you'd like. So while this isn't particularly good news, nonetheless it does provide an explanation if you're having trouble getting motivated, and unfortunately, being as this is tied in with an eclipse, it's going to last for a while, so good luck with that. So now that you're probably depressed, especially if your birthday is mid-March, let's see what the New Moon/Solar Eclipse is up to on July 21. This one falls in Cancer, your 5th House of creativity, romance, ego expression, children and speculation. If you're a creative type, which most Pisces are due to their natural connection with the sublime and other dimensions, this should bring good things your way. Again, remember the theme of finding new ways to handle old problems since the old methods are going to fail. Now is when you can really tap into that trio in your 12th House and pull in their inspiration, then apply it in a creative manner, no matter what your particular outlet may be. Just make sure that you don't get too carried away and leave reality behind. Neptune can get a bit carried away with idealism, so make a conscious effort to keep that under control. The New Moon/Sun conjunction is quincunx Pluto further reinforcing those adjustments required to your group associations; remember, new methods, sudden reforms. Uranus is trine the New Moon, stirring things up even further with unexpected events and sudden change. Venus is squaring Saturn, which will bring about a deep assessment of your relationship with family members. Try not to be too critical, as this will be an inclination with Saturn in Virgo. It's time to restructure some home responsibilities, obligations, and authority, so take the challenge and do so with a positive attitude. Short-term Aspects The month starts out the first few days with Venus and Mercury interacting with that stellium in Aquarius. This will stimulate that connection between your thoughts and ideas and all that woo-woo stuff, which may tend to make you wander around with a bit of a deer-in-the-headlights look. This will be particularly true at home and probably pointed out by family members. Tell them that your brain is on vacation and is expected to return sometime this fall. Mercury goes into Cancer, your 5th House of creativity, kids, lovers, and speculation on July 3, which should be a positive time for creative efforts, spending time with your offspring, or romantic pursuits. Mercury opposes Pluto on July 4, which could mean a quick trip with a friend or group excursion close to home or perhaps bring attention to any hidden issues associated with your involvement with those outside your immediate family and close friends. Venus goes into Gemini on July 5, bringing her blessings to your home environment. From July 6 - 7 Mars will be interacting with Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron, as described above since this is when that Full Moon eclipse is going to occur. Remember to draw from the other side heavily for inspiration as opposed to the reverse, i.e. allowing your drive to be dissipated. The Sun sextiles Saturn on July 9th, which will be a favorable time to do something with your children or move forward with a romantic relationship. On the 10th a huge flash of inspiration is possible, likewise having no energy or ambition whatsoever. On July 11 Mars goes into Gemini, bringing some drive and ambition to your home environment, and between the 12th and 14th expect more mental action regarding your children or developing romantic relationships. Adjustments between home and your friends, coworkers, or other group association activities will peak around the 14th and perhaps include an argument or confrontation. July 15 - 16 you're likely to find yourself in a Catch-22 that involves something going on at home versus your inability to concentrate lately; those close to you are probably wondering about that deer-in-the-headlights look and how long it's going to last. Mercury goes into Leo, your 6th House of work and health on July 17. This should increase the pace on the job, bring in news or additional data regarding it or possibly your health, and provide some motivation in that area. From July 18 - 19 something will occur that will force you to confront your distractibility and focus more clearly on the tasks at hand. You should be able to come up with some creative approaches to that dilemma between home and your group activities at this time and have the drive to put them into action. Assessing those home relationships will reach a peak on the 21st, so remember not to be too critical; remember you can't expect perfection if you can't offer it. The New Moon/Solar eclipse is also out there, though its effects may not be visible yet. The Sun goes into Leo on the 22nd, bringing more emphasis to your work and health. Another Catch-22, this time involving your coworkers, is likely on the 23rd. July 27 - 28 you should be able to draw some of that inspiration to bear in dealing with that home situation. July 30 - 31 you may have a hard time concentrating on the task at hand at work. While your mind is wandering, be sure to pick up some ideas along the way. Venus goes into Cancer, your 5th House of children, romance, creativity, and speculation, which should introduce some positive things into this area to look forward to next month. This may be an easier month for you than those around you as you tend to slip into la-la-land on a regular basis due to that stellium in your 12th House. Don't look upon these aspects as an excuse, but recognize their effect and put a conscious effort toward using it in a constructive manner rather than simply riding the wave. Issues related to your home environment and your friends or group associations are needing some attention, so draw some of that inspirational energy into the real world to help solve some of these challenges. Recognize that your feet are probably only hitting the ground intermittently these days and that even though this may feel good to a Pisces, it can be rather annoying to the more practical souls around you.
