Lunations and Long-Term Aspects This month we have another Full Moon/Lunar eclipse, further reinforcing the ones in July since this one is a member of the same Saros family that is calling for reforms, finding different approaches to problems, and removing obstacles in our path, possibly in a forceful manner. Since Crabs are ruled by the Moon, eclipses probably affect you more than the other signs, other than those with Cancer Moons, Ascendants, or other heavy influences. Lunar eclipses tend to work on our inner being including our thoughts, feelings and emotions, whereas solar eclipses tend to have more influence on the events going on around us. Nonetheless, our inner being can also spur us to action. This Full Moon occurs in Aquarius, your 8th House of transformations, sex, death and shared resources, a.k.a. other people's money, meaning debt. All these items are things that have a strong effect on us and our experiences with them are often defining moments in our life after which we are never the same again. Having an eclipse in this house is thus very likely to bring something our way, even if it's simply a new depth of understanding. If your birthday is within a few days of July 5 you are even more likely to be affected. One aspect that is likely to color this eclipse is a Triangle of Potential that comprises Venus, Pluto and Mercury at the apex, which will influence your thoughts about your relationships, or perhaps one in particular. Venus is in Cancer until August 26, which will bring a bit of luck and charm your way for you to use as you see fit. During this times others will tend to see you in a favorable light, be receptive to you as a person, and you may even notice your appearance is enhanced. Meanwhile, Pluto is hunkering down for the long-haul in Capricorn, your 7th House of relationships, which will dig up any old dirt you've been toting around with regard to those close to you. Family means a lot to Crabs, but your sensitive, Moon-Ruled, Water Sign nature also makes you very vulnerable to hurt. Thus, Pluto will probably find this part of your life to be a target-rich environment. This is not necessarily a bad thing, though resolving old issues often reawakens those feelings that were never worked through. This Pluto-business if going to be in force for a long, long time, i.e. years, so you have plenty of time to take care of business. Any issues in this regard that require attention now have the benefit of not only your personal charm being increased by Venus, but Mercury, ruler of communications, in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas and neighbors, and at the apex of the Triangle of Potential, implying that communication is the means for solving the problem. Thus, this eclipse could have a very positive influence and help you resolve any issues that come up for review regarding those close to you. Also be on the lookout for someone who may try to undermine you in some way. Other possibilities are unpleasant dreams, a confrontation with an institution of some description or feeling confined. The New Moon on the 20th has an host of aspects accompanying it which should make it interesting indeed. Remember that a New Moon typically brings something new into our life, though sometimes this is simply a new phase of something that's already there. One major aspect pattern to be aware of is a T-square between Mercury, Saturn, Uranus, and Mars. Mercury and Saturn are in Virgo, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, short journeys, and neighbors. Mercury is quite at home there and does a grand job of stimulating and clarifying your thoughts and communications. Saturn, however, who's the wet blanket of the zodiacal set, probably has been giving a serious or even gloomy spin to your mental plane for quite a while now, i.e. since September 2007. Uranus is in your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, relocation, people and things from other cultures, and so forth and has been disrupting things with all sorts of surprises and disturbances, also for a long time. With him opposite Mercury and Saturn it implies that all that thought energy going on is going to shift over into your beliefs and effect some changes. Uranus can also stir up feeling of rebellion. Mars is in your 12th House of spirituality, dreams, institutions and confinement, so that confrontation you may have with an institution noted earlier could be the trigger for some major action in thoughts/belief territory as implied by this T-square. Another interesting aspect to watch is a double yod between Venus, Saturn, Mercury, Neptune and Jupiter. Also known as a Finger of God, the yod points us toward something. In this case the apex is actually that stellium that comprises Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron who have been traveling together in Aquarius for several months now and are currently all retrograde. Aquarius, as noted earlier, is your 8th House of transformations and there is certainly a lot of things in that neighborhood that this stellium could mess with; remember it is also your house of debt. In July when this trio was all in the same degree there were all sorts of things going on, most of which were less than enchanting. However, every transit has a message that is ultimately for our growth and good so it behooves us to figure out what it is and make the best of it. In this particularly House it will give you a lot to think about whether it's your perceptions of reality, core beliefs and ethical considerations, or past hurts. The yod elements throw in some understanding, forgiveness, and taking responsibility for anything you may have said or done that contributed to such situations. Needless to say this is a very complementary aspect to what Pluto is up to with your relationships. It's time to get old issues resolved, to clear the air, and move on happier and wiser. Daily and Short-term Aspects August 1 - 3: Time to start thinking about an outstanding relationship issues that have matured sufficiently to be addressed and resolved. Try to be objective and see all sides of the situation from everyone else's knothole. Achieving understanding is the first step to being able to forgive those who have hurt you. August 5: Full Moon/lunar eclipse as described above. August 7 - 10: Maintain positive thoughts as much as possible, even if everything that is coming at you from the past was unpleasant. Be as objective as possible, also, considering the facts and removing the emotion from the situation by considering that you may have overreacted. If you encounter a confrontation, use logic and your sense of responsibility to respond for best results. August 13 - 14: Any old issues you need to clean up deserve some serious thought and consideration at all levels. However, also keep your eyes open for anyone trying to undermine you either intentionally or otherwise. Above all else, concentrate on being the better person, whatever the circumstances happen to be. Give your beliefs a good, hearty shake to make sure they're soundly rooted in fact and healthy principles. August 17: An opportunity to examine your values will present itself. Be prepared to make a few attitude adjustments or changes to something you previously believed in but may now be shown not to be true. Give some serious, conscious thought to where you are and where you're heading as a person. Think about how you've been meeting your obligations and whether they can be improved. Find some quiet time to open yourself up to inspiration and insights that will help you find the solution and strength you need. August 18: A favorable day for taking a hard look at your budget and considering how you feel about your material possessions. Crabs tend to be packrats, both physically and emotionally. Is this holding you back in some way? Have you been neglecting your spiritual health? If you feel trapped or under attack by an institution of some description, resist the urge to be overly rebellious. Choose your battles wisely. August 19: Watch for opportunities to improve how you meet your responsibilities. Adjustments to your beliefs will be required today as that yod aligns itself with all planets in the same degree. What are you supposed to be learning? August 20 - 21: New Moon today as described earlier. More adjustments to your beliefs will be required as old ones dissolve in the face of some surprising or unexpected thoughts or information. August 22 - 23: The Sun goes into Virgo today, bringing more light and emphasis to your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and short journeys. This will help clear any fog that has been in your way. Keep attuned for inspiration and insights and maintain an open mind. Something unexpected but pleasant will come your way today, possibly related to higher learning, a contract or legal matter, relocation, or related to someone from a foreign culture. August 25: Mercury goes into Libra, your 4th House of home environment, which will help facilitate communications with those you live with. Mars goes into your sign and 1st House of personality, giving you some extra drive and energy to tackle your goals. Anything that has been ruminating within you may also surface in conscious thought at this time. August 26 - 27: Arguments with others in your household are likely today. Look beyond the obvious for what the real issue is if you really want to solve it. A power struggle could ensue, especially if you come forward aggressively. Venus enters Leo, your 2nd House of finances, values, and possessions today, which is a rather pleasant placement that should bring favor to this part of your life. Consider, however, whether you need to make some adjustments to how you feel about material things and how it affects your relationships. This could go either way. Either you care too much or too little, perhaps manifested by not taking care of your possessions as diligently as you should. If you're a packrat, think about why and how it benefits you.
