Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the Full Moon occurs in your 1st House of personality and will be particularly noticeable for those of you born within a day or so of March 3 as it will conjunct your Natal Sun. A Full Moon usually hails an ending or shifting to a new phase and considering the continuity between this lunation and the New Moon on September 18 it appears that a new phase of an existing issue is most likely. The aspects associated with this Full Moon provide a few indications regarding what its character may be. First of all it's worth noting that by definition a Full Moon is an opposition between the Sun and the Moon, also known in astrological terms as "luminaries." The Sun typically represents our ego and will while the Moon represents our emotional nature. The Moon reflects the light of the Sun much as our emotions reflect our thoughts. When these two are faced off as they are with a Full Moon, particularly when it occurs somewhere on our Natal Chart that conducts energy such as a planet or house cusp, it's going to bring emotions to the surface and into action, which at least partially explains why Full Moons are frequently times when crime increases. The Sun in your 7th House of close relationships is further bringing emphasis to that part of your life and nothing can stir us up more emotionally than the people we care about. Remember that the 7th House comprises close friends and relatives, your significant other, business partners, and if you're in business for yourself it includes your cliental; open enemies are also included (hidden enemies reside in the 12th). Thus, this event is a favorable time for you to give some thought to those who are close to you, the meaning they have in your life, how they affect you and vice versa. Besides the Sun - Moon opposition there are a few others that will saturate this Full Moon with a variety of contrasting influences. One to keep an eye on is between Uranus and Saturn. Uranus is in Pisces so if your birthday is a day one way or the other from March 16 his energy will be quite apparent. This is the planet of disruptions, interruptions, the unexpected, surprises, innovation, rebellion and freedom, such as in breaking free. Saturn, on the other hand, is all about boundaries, structure, responsibility, obligations, delays and restrictions. Saturn is the planet that expects us all to keep it between the lines and follow the rules; Uranus is about breaking them. Take this a step further by considering that Saturn is in your 7th House where he's trying to keep your relationships between those lines. Your obligations and responsibilities will be readily apparent and as Saturn has transited this particularly house you have probably felt their weight. Uranus, on the other hand, is probably stirring up a few things that are making those restrictions harder to bear than usual. Breaking free or rebelling against your boundaries are on your mind and more than likely messing with your relationships in one way or another. This restlessness may be surfacing due to Uranus' influence but he did not invent it or put it there; he just offered a conduit of sorts for it to come out in the open. Depending on the particular relationship(s) involved, there is no time like the present to take a very close look to the whys and wherefores associated with these feelings, especially if the relationships are serious ones that you can't easily dismiss or eliminate. Another opposition is the one between Mars and Pluto. This one is fairly wide in orb, but likely to be felt none-the-less due to the strong energy each of these planets emanates. They are frequently dubbed "bad boys" astrologically which is largely because of their energy and the fact it's often difficult to control. In this case Mars' energy is being expressed in your 5th House of ego, creativity, entertainment, speculation, children and romance while Pluto is slinking around in your 11th House of groups, organizations, coworkers and goals. One thing about these two planets and all that energy that you need to know is that if you don't use the energy yourself in a constructive way then you're likely to find it coming at you from someone else. For example, Mars is very energizing and motivating which can come out as either assertion or aggression. Your 5th House is a target-rich environment for putting this to good use either in a creative outlet, having some fun, particularly with sports or getting outdoor, playing with your or someone else's children or pursuing a romantic interest; however, it could also make you too self-centered and thus act like, if you'll forgive the expression, an asshole. If you're not putting it to good use at all you may well become a target for someone else. Pluto could operate the same way but with slightly different vibes. Pluto is the great zodiacal backhoe who goes digging around in areas where something has been buried as opposed to being resolved. He's also about power. In your 11th House of groups and organizations you may encounter old issues that need to be disposed of properly, go on a power trip, or do everything in your power to take control of your own goals. If you have a creative work in progress these could actually work together quite well, like alternating current. Conversely, if you're not using, someone may use it against you as they pursue their own power trip. Think about these energies and whether you're using them or they're using you. Mars is also involved in a square to Mercury in your 8th House of transformations. This could also be useful for fueling that creative energy since Mercury stimulates our thoughts, ideas, and movement of all kinds. Your 8th House has a lot of thought-provoking issues floating around and since transformations are the result of mental activity, usually that which results from an intense experience of some kind, this could pair up quite well with Mars in your house of ego and creativity. A square isn't an easy aspect but the tension is likely to be motivating and don't forget to tie this all back to Pluto, who rules the 8th zodiacal House, fellow Water Sign, Scorpio. In its simplest delineation, transformational thoughts will stir up creative energy that would be put to good use in taking a close, forensic look at your existing activities and goals, and since relationships are a hot topic this month you might throw in how they're being affected by them as well. There are two quincunxes with the Full Moon, one of which involves the Moon herself and Venus, who's in your 6th House of work and health. This is certainly a nice placement for the goddess of love since she should be bringing good fortune to your efforts and activities such that others will admire and appreciate them and view the in a favorable light. A quincunx usually indicates that a change of course is due so take a look deep inside yourself and determine how that fits this area of your life. The other one is between Saturn and Neptune, your Sign Ruler. As noted earlier, Saturn is all about structure, delays, restrictions, responsibilities and so forth. Neptune, however, tends to dissolve what he touches and dissipate reality. Under Neptune's influence we typically can't think clearly, remain focused, or feel particularly motivated, somewhat how you feel floating around in a backyard pool on a lazy, summer day, margarita in hand. Not necessarily a bad thing provided you don't expect to do that 24/7. Neptune is in your 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, dreams, inspiration and the collective consciousness though a few darker items are housed there as well such as institutions, confinement, self-undoing, and hidden enemies. Since Saturn is in your 7th House of relationships, putting these two influences together implies that you may be off in Lalaland daydreaming while there's serious work to be done that pertains to someone close to you; the quincunx indicates that it's time for some adjustments or course changes. And that ought to give you plenty to think about with regard to the Full Moon. The New Moon on September 18 bears some interesting influences as well. The New Moon, which as you probably know is a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, is in Virgo, your 7th House of relationships, so you can see this is a very active part of your life right now. This lunation is rather solemn in that the New Moon is flanked by stuffy Saturn in the same zodiacal degree and Mercury, who at that time is retrograde. This grouping alone says that a new relationship or phase of a relationship requires some serious consideration and/or rethinking. That alone is a rather powerful statement from the Universe, but there are numerous other influences giving it even more "ooomph." If your birthday is between March 14 - 20 all of this will be opposing your Natal Sun, so expect something significant. Uranus is opposing them all, indicating you won't take this lying down and may well try to run away. Pluto is squaring them as well, providing deep and possibly dark introspection into the entire situation. Neptune is quincunx the New Moon and Saturn, once more declaring it's time for a course change and he's also opposite Venus who's still in your 6th House of work and health, which implies you could undo all the good you've accomplished with your work if you aren't paying attention. It's also worth mentioning in general that the stellium tied into Neptune that comprises Jupiter and the asteroid, Chiron is still active. That trio could be up to all sorts of things hanging out in your 12th House. As already noted, Neptune messes with your sense of reality anyway and in your woo-woo 12th House he's very much at home; remember that he rules the zodiacal 12th House where you hang out natally as a Pisces. Chiron in the house of hidden enemies and self-undoing bears watching since he represents the various injuries we encounter in life whether they're spiritual, emotional, mental, physical or financial. Jupiter is usually benefic, but his ability to expand things may not be so favorable in this context. If there are strange rumblings going on in this particular neighborhood, these are the entities to blame. On the positive side they could be bringing you a variety of psychic experiences or spiritual excursions into the unknown. It would be a good time to explore esoteric and/or metaphysical subjects. Pisces are already at home with such things and this will be like a mega-dose of woo-woo steroids. One, lone trine does its best to brighten up this already dark lunation (pun intended) by connecting Pluto and Venus. Pluto takes you back again to examining your goals very closely, perhaps tossing some out in favor of new ones that will relate to those favors and positive connections you've been making through your work. Now all you need to do is tie this all together. Short-term Aspects September 1 - 3: Thoughts of a transformational nature will expand your spiritual awareness and set the stage for what's to come this month. New drive to pursue a creative work, express yourself, do something fun, or go after a romantic interest will be impossible to resist. Something favorable is going on with your work or a current project but this could be keeping you from your responsibilities with respect to one or more relationships. Try to achieve as much balance as you can, even though you'll be sharply drawn to your own interests. September 4: Full Moon today as described above. September 7: Mercury goes retrograde today until September 28. This is a favorable time to be rethinking, reconsidering, editing, re-planning and so forth, particularly as it applies to the challenges coming your way this month and your relationships. Remember that this is an unfavorable time to buy anything electronic or mechanical. You also could encounter transportation problems. Whatever you do, don't buy a car until mid-October when this influence is fully dissipated. September 8 - 10: There will be a lot of energy between your work activities and long-term goals that will help you further define them. There may be some help coming your way from coworkers or organizations you're associated with as well. Creative energy coupled with inspiration is high and you won't be very receptive to anyone who gets in your way, which is likely to be someone close to you. Pluto goes direct on the 10th after several months of retrograde activity, which will help bring what he's been digging up to the surface for consideration. September 11: Work continues along a favorable path but expanding your spiritual or metaphysical horizons may compete for your time. Focusing on someone close to you will help provide the needed course change. Annoying thoughts or insights may also interrupt your progress. September 12 - 14: Responsibilities to someone close to you will necessitate a reality check and an adjustment. Transformational thoughts and insights are as thick as London fog. September 15: The tug-o-war between responsibilities to someone and personal will and freedom will be strong today. It will e difficult to get anything done because you'll be distracted, unfocused, and daydreaming. Getting your work done will require a course change that affects your will in some manner. September 16 - 17: Work progress and relationship issues will be at odds again. Focusing on one or more relationships and your dreams will necessitate another change of course or create a Catch-22. Responsibilities versus personal freedom arise once again. Transformational thoughts related to your friends, an organization or those goals you've been pursuing will surface for consideration as well. Those responsibilities are going to be glaring at you even if you're still wearing rose-colored glasses. September 18: New Moon today as described earlier. Mercury backs into Virgo, helping you to rethink some reconsider some of those relationship issues. September 19 -21: Thoughts about your relationships will be a major distraction, but you'll be thinking of them in a more favorable light. They may even be starting to fit into those remodeled goals or be compatible with your existing friends or organizational work. This will be pleasant but will get in the way of pursuing that creative effort. If it's a romantic relationship issue, one of you may be more anxious to move forward than the other. September 22 - 23: The Sun goes into Libra on the 22nd, bringing balance, fairness, and harmony into view. Rethinking those relationship responsibilities will be first and foremost and may conflict with your goals, social life with your friends, or an organization you're associated with. Thoughts about that relationship are going to intrude on your freedom again, stirring up some rebellion. Another course change is in order as once again you try to focus on reality. September 25 - 30: New inspiration will alter the course of that creative project, romantic pursuit or something related to your children. Opportunities are coming to mind in this regard, just in time for Mercury to go direct so you can finalize your plans. What Sign are you now? Find out with a Progressed Chart Report!
