Lunations and Long-term Aspects First and foremost, something to keep in mind for most of the month, at least from May 6 - 30th, is that Mercury is going to be retrograde. As you may or may not recall, this is when just about everything electronic or mechanical goes on the fritz in one way or another. Computers, cell phones, appliances, cars, human communications and just about anything that moves, whether it's data or machinery, is honked up. This happens three times each year, but fortunately it only lasts for about three weeks. Of course that can be a mighty long three weeks if you're trying to get something done. These periods of time are actually good for something, and that's to edit, review, revise, and rethink anything you currently have in-work. For those who tend to move too quickly, this provides an opportunity to go back and check our work, so to speak, and make sure we want to proceed in the direction we're headed. Factor some extra time into your plans due to malfunctions, if possible avoid travel, and if you can't, expect delays. Don't expect to make a lot of forward progress and it will limit the frustration, at least to some degree. The Full Moon on May 8th is in Scorpio, your 2nd House of financial matters, possessions, needs, and pleasures. A Full Moon usually hails a culmination of some description, though it can also simply mean the issue at hand is going into a new phase; a milestone has been reached, but not the conclusion. This will be the focal point emotionally, based on the lunar location; the Sun, however, is in Taurus, your 8th House of sex, death and regeneration, transformations and other people's money. Thus, this lunation spans what is called the "axis of desire," whether it's based on material assets or our physical needs. The placement of the other planets color its flavor as well. Your Sign Ruler, Venus, is in Aries, your polar sign and 7th House of relationships. Interestingly enough, Mars is over there, too. This implies a tremendous amount of intensity in your male-female relationships, whether that's good "intense" or not-so-good "intense," and further ties into that axis of desire. Remember that Mars represents drive and energy while Venus relates to our finances as well as our affections. It gets even more interesting given the stellium that's in your 5th House of children, romance, creativity, entertainment, speculation, ego and self-expression. In view of everything else going on out there, there's a good change the thing involved here is romance. (If you're in a stable, committed relationship, you may be yawning about now, so if that's the case be thinking about your financial situation. If you're like most people these days, that's not exactly where you'd like it to be.) A stellium is three astrological entities (remember they're not all planets) in the same house or sign. In this case they're all in Aquarius and making even more interesting is the fact that they're all in close conjunction with one another. The parties involved are Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, all of which are slow movers, so they'll be hanging out in this cosmic manage à trois for quite a while, if you'll excuse the expression. Thus, their energies and influences will not only be concentrated and blended together but hard to miss much less ignore. Outer planets govern the long-term trends in our lives, so these aren't going to involve something that only matters for a day or two. These have been converging for a while now, so there shouldn't be anything entirely new come out of this, though matters are likely to escalate as they move toward exactness, which will occur in time for the New Moon. Having three astrological influences in the same degree is fairly rare, so this should be quite meaningful. Jupiter expands and exaggerates what he contacts and Neptune typically dissolves things. Neptune is idealistic, can be delusional, create illusions, or drive us to seek them by such means as drugs or alcohol. On the positive side, he can increase our compassion and understanding of others; Neptune was probably the author of the old campfire song "Kumbaya." Throw these two together and you can wind up with either some extremely charitable and selfless giving or conversely, over-confident delusions. Now plug that into your 5th House and see what comes out. But it gets better. Chiron, the wounded healer, is right in the middle of all this. In your birth chart Chiron indicates the areas in your life where you'll suffer, either physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, or even financially. The principle behind the archetype is that we take these wounds that never entirely heal and use our understanding, wisdom and compassion to help others in a similar situation. For example, someone who was an abused wife may volunteer to help others in a similar fix by volunteering or donating to a women's shelter. Someone who undergoes a crippling accident may devote time and effort to helping others. The injuries we encounter are typically set off by a Chiron transit. So, all things considered, it looks like whatever over-inflated ideal we may come up with is going to bite us in the end, unless its the more positive manifestation where it brings out your sense of love and compassion and it has a healing effect. The trigger for all this will come from Uranus, who's in Pisces, your 6th House of work, health, and small animals. Uranus is the planet of unexpected events, surprises, rebellion, and disruption. Thus, something you hadn't planned for relative to your work or health is likely to set things in motion. One negative manifestation would be that you lose your job and then convince yourself that you'll do just fine by writing the "Great American Novel" or, better yet, composing or singing the next number one hit song. Sure, it could happen, but what are the odds? Another possibility is that you meet the love of your life in the lunch line at work and the torrid affair that follows isn't looked on favorably by the human resources department. Or you get sick and think that your children will pick up all the slack and take care of you, too. The possibilities are endless and will be entirely unique to you. Since Aquarius is a fellow Air Sign, and thus in trine with Libra, there's a good chance that the results will be positive. Those most likely to encounter one of these (hopefully positive) scenarios are those born on October 20th, give or take a day. The New Moon occurs on May 24th in Gemini, your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, long-distance travel and relocation. Just take everything that the Full Moon is stirring up and figure it's going to affect one of those 9th House matters. If your birthday is September 26, give or take a day, this will be more significant for you in that some hidden or buried issues on the home front are going to surface and necessitate some adjustments to your beliefs. This is going to be in effect through the summer, so expect to see something along these lines developing in your life in the days and weeks to come. Short-term and Daily Aspects The aspects each day provide little nudges with an occasional kick toward those things going on with the outer planets. From May 1 - 9 Venus is squaring Pluto, which will involve something unresolved at home creating a problem in a relationship. The Sun is in your 8th House of transformations, and he's throwing some energy out there toward Saturn that has something to do with your spiritual health or other 12th House issue. These include enlightenment, dreams, inspiration, institutions and hidden enemies along with the collective consciousness. Saturn is a bit of a bad actor, but in a trine aspect to this house, it may simply be telling you it's time to sign up for a yoga class. Mercury goes retrograde on the 6th, so from that point on until the 30th, communications are going to be messed up, so bear that in mind and reread the first paragraph if necessary. The Full Moon occurs on the 8th, then on the 11th a crisis with one of your relationships may necessitate some adjustments with respect to that yoga class or perhaps some obligation you have as a volunteer. Saturn goes direct on the 16th, which means that whatever he's been whispering about the past four and a half months may finally become apparent. This also probably has to do with your spiritual health, that yoga class, or maybe the necessity of reducing your alcohol consumption. Also on the 16th, the Sun is going to toss one of Zeus' lightning bolts into that stellium; this is when something at work, related to your favorite home project, or health is going to star stirring things up in your 5th House of kids, romance, creativity, ego, etc. (For Libras, it's probably not ego.) A revelation of sorts is likely on the 18th that will jump start those transformations. Between May 16th - 25th an influx of news or information relative to that on-going matter will come along, or, given the fact that Mercury is retrograde, perhaps you'll start to rethink a few things. More adjustments due to the situation in a relationship will come along at that time as well, more than likely right around the 20th. The Sun goes into Gemini on the 21st, shifting the emphasis to your beliefs instead of transformations or perhaps your bills. Nonetheless, a few more surprises regarding work or your health will also come out at this time. Some adjustments relative to you home will be required as a reflection of how you've decided to handle that unresolved issue. The New Moon comes along on the 24th, then a few days later more developments are likely in that other situation; something is bound to show up around then that at least smells a little like this issue since at that time all three bodies will be in the same degree. Mercury goes direct on May 30th which should help as far as moving forward toward resolution. This could be a rather interesting month in various ways or there's always the chance it will be as dull as watching the grass grow. Something is going on out there, but it will manifest slightly differently for everyone. Maybe you're simply supposed to finally take that painting hobby you picked up a few years ago more fully, maybe you'll be involved in an affair that knocks Brad and Angelina out of the news, or maybe one of your kids will turn out to be a genius. No telling, but many of the aspects this month are nice, friendly trines as far as Libra is concerned, so that bodes fairly well for the long-term outcome. |
