Long Term Aspects

There are several aspects that will be in effect for the entire month or longer that will have a significant impact on your life. One of these is an opposition between Saturn and Uranus which will last throughout January and February, primarily because Saturn went retrograde on December 31, prolonging and slightly modifying its effect. Saturn is in your 1st House of personality; if your birthday falls roughly between September 11 - 16 this will be even more noticeable. Saturn is the task master of the zodiacal set who's purpose is to teach you responsibility, respect for authority, discipline, and patience in delays. Most Virgos are inherently responsible with your perfectionism instilling a certain amount of discipline but the others are a crap-shoot, depending on your other chart elements such as Ascendant and Moon Sign.

Thus, if you have something to learn in these areas, brace yourself because help (?) is on the way. Furthermore, as Saturn strives to bring the efficacy of these lessons to your attention, Uranus will be singing another song. Uranus is all about rebellion, innovation, sudden change, disruptions, and unexpected events. This bad boy is in your 7th House of relationships causing any number of disturbances to make this area of your life anything but dull. So we have Saturn trying to teach you one thing while Uranus, assisted by the people in your life, is providing one distraction or crisis after another. Yet, in some strange way, this unlikely couple will somehow manage to achieve their objectives.

Saturn will be retrograde until May 16, giving him plenty of time to make his point. During this time some situation in your life will be brewing that presents regular challenges. You won't quite know what to do, but will be thinking about it. A lot. One or more problems will be dumped in your lap to figure out. Be the middle of May you'll have a plan that you'll put into action about that time and by the time Saturn finally reaches where he was when he put it in reverse, which will be around mid-August, everything should be either resolved or well on the way to being so.

During the two months that he's dancing with Uranus a series of disruptions and surprises will be emanating from the people in your life that you're closest to. The 7th House of relationships includes close friends and relatives, business partners, your significant other, and anyone else with whom you interact on a one-on-one basis. You know them and they know you on a personal level, in some cases maybe too well. And they'll be dealing you one surprise or disruption after another. More than likely your first reaction will be one of impatience and judgment, which are two things that Virgos typically have down to a science. However, you'll find that these are ineffective and often exacerbate the situation as opposed to resolving it. People simply won't fit into the molds created for them nor do the majority come with instructions much less follow them. For Virgos this results in a tremendous amount of frustration. This is definitely not the time to run out of your tranquillizers or blood pressure medication.

If there's one thing Whobeda won't do it's blow sunshine up your wazoo. I call 'em like I see 'em, to preserve my credibility if nothing else. If the planets are acting in an unfriendly manner, I'm going to tell it like it is. It may not be good news, but at least you'll know it's not just you. Maybe the lack of sugar-coating is why I've been told these horoscopes are among the most accurate my readers have seen.

Once this dialog between these two diametrically opposed planets fades away, things will lighten up some, but won't entirely diminish. Saturn will be hanging out in Virgo until November, and then return for a brief visit in 2010 between April and July. Uranus will be in Pisces until May 2010 and make a comeback between August 2010 to March 2011. When the Universe sets out to make a point, he is not to be trifled with. At a certain point you'll become somewhat acclimated to this chaos and begin to accept it as normal. Rest assured it is not, but accepting it for the next few years is probably in your best interest.

Now that I've set the tone for the year to come, there's more. Your Sign Ruler, Mercury, is likewise retrograde this month between January 11 - February 1st. Mercury is hanging out in your 6th House of work and will back up into your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, entertainment, and hobbies for a stint as well. You probably already know that buying something mechanical or electronic during a Mercury RX spell is a bad idea. For whatever reason, it puts a veritable curse on the object that is likely to be a lemon, if not from the git-go, as soon as the warranty runs out. Mercury RX is actually good for something, however, which is to rethink, rework, re-plan, revise and re-about anything. As a perfectionist, this can be a good thing. You're not going to make any forward progress anyway, so you may as well look for anything you missed so as to make it as close to perfect as humanly possible, which is your overarching goal in life, anyway. How appropriate that your Sign Ruler would give you this opportunity at least three times a year, not for long hauls like the outer planets, but just long enough for you to learn patience. These stalls will be most noticeable in your work or possibly your health until the 21st, then slip over into your 5th House and involve your kids, romantic inclinations, or hobbies. Don't expect to make any forward progress in either area until around February 21st.

At the end of November, Pluto entered Capricorn, your 5th House. This zodiacal roto-rooter is there to stay this time and I mean STAY. We're talking about a long time, like to the tune of November 2024. No, that is NOT a typo, I said the year Twenty-Twenty-Four. Sixteen years from now. A significantly long time. Pluto's raison d'être is to unearth hidden things and facilitate transformations. Figuratively, it's like digging up those old sewer lines that have been compromised by ground shifts and tree roots. It will be one helluva mess for a while, then it will be repaired, covered up again, and all will be fine, at least for a while. The 5th House really isn't usually too painful as Pluto transits go as compared to others, so I wouldn't worry about it. In fact, you've already seen what it does to your 4th House. Think about those plumbing and/or electrical problems, cockroaches, termites, or psycho family members who have been darkening your door over the past several years. Sure, everyone has them from time to time, but not as many as you've had. Yes, that was Pluto, and the bulk of that is over, so thank heaven for small favors. Years ago there was a TV show with the theme "Life is Hard; then you Die." Undoubtedly the writer was experiencing a Pluto transit.

Daily/Short Term Aspects

January 2: Your buddy, Mercury, is teasing Pluto today. If you have a creative project going on at work something is going to surface that's a nuisance. If may also be a matter of your work schedule conflicting with your child's basketball game lineup. You missed something somewhere and it's going to have an impact on the job. It's likely to stir up some trouble with your significant other as well, so brace yourself.

January 4: Venus slipped into your 7th House of relationships yesterday, which is a good thing, considering some of the other clowns hanging out in that area. Today she's in a dialog with Pluto that will allow you to have some in-depth conversations with your significant other. It even has the potential for some passion, so exploit this one for all its worth.

January 5: I hope yesterday went well because today may not. Something is going to come up at work that's going to disrupt a relationship. This may involve someone at home or it may be someone with whom you work closely. It won't be an actual argument, but more in the annoyance category.

January 6: Mars, who's hanging out in your 5th House of children, creativity, ego, hobbies, and so forth all month, is starting some trouble with dreamy Neptune, who's lurking in the clouds at work. Neptune is good for the imagination, but not so good at maintaining reality. Your ego may be a bit more demanding today such that you envision yourself as the CEO. If you're a typical Virgo, you probably think most of the upper echelons are idiots and you could do a much better job. Be that as it may, I wouldn't advertise your opinion too loudly today.

January 8: Someone or something at work is going to cause some friction on the job today that may include trying to put the blame on you. Don't be too defensive, particularly if there's any truth in the accusation.

January 9: There's some good things going on today that involve your kids, hobbies or creativity that will create the opportunity for an unexpected development in a relationship. For example, you may meet someone new at your child's basketball game or school play that can benefit you in some way. Smile and be friendly.

January 10: Something is going to come up at work that causes an annoyance involving your significant other. You're going to be late for dinner, distracted, or on the phone at the wrong time or, conversely, you'll be trying to get something done at work and your significant other will keep calling. In other words, there will be a minor clash between these two venues today, so don't make any plans you can avoid.

January 11: Full Moon today in Cancer, your 11th House of friends, coworkers, group associations, hopes and wishes. Something in one of these areas is culminating, i.e. either ending or entering a new phase. Mercury also goes retrograde today, so expect to see evidence of that in problems with electronic devices at the least. On the positive side, your creativity will be in high gear and you'll have the patience and ambition to bring it to fruition. With Mercury RX, it may involve a new idea for an existing project that's in the weeds.

January 12: An increase in your workload may develop as the result of creative insights on your part. This may seem annoying at first, but should eventually lead to an opportunity. However, make sure that your imagination isn't off in la-la land somewhere and that your suggestion is feasible. Reality is important to maintain your credibility.

January 15: If that project at work hasn't come grinding to a screeching halt yet, it probably will today. News of some sort is going to result in more work that lands in your lap. Hello, Mercury RX.

January 17: It just gets better and better. That news at work is now causing some crap with one or more relationships. Maybe it's a big "I told you so."

January 18: Big news or a huge data dump will come along today. The reward for good work is more work. Accept it with open arms.

January 19: If your ego needs trimming, expect some today. Maybe that idea you had a while back wasn't as brilliant as it seemed and now you need to clean up the mess. Good ol' Mercury RX. This will result in another late night, a cold dinner and perhaps some flack for dessert. The Sun goes into Aquarius today, throwing even more light and emphasis on work. Try to contain your joy to a reasonable level.

January 20: Finding the problem is likely today as well as a creative solution. This will bring some positive attention your way, so don't be shy presenting it.

January 21: Moving forward at work and expanding your responsibilities is going to continue to cause friction in your relationships. Try not to be distracted or neglect the people who are most important in your life, no matter how important you deem that promotion to be. Another ego trim is coming. Look upon it as useful information that enables you to do a better job that's closer to perfection rather than personal criticism.

January 22: Aggressively pursuing something that represents your personal expression, whether it's a hobby, creative endeavor, self-promotion, your children, or a romantic interest will open the opportunity for expanding an existing or initiating another new relationship. Turn on that Virgo charm.

January 23: A big surprise in the relationship arena is coming today. Be ready for anything. Hopefully it will be good, but it could tie back into retrograde Saturn grinding away at the rough spots in your personality. Take your stripes humbly or your love life may suffer for a long time.

January 24: All eyes will be upon you on the job today as they recognize your contribution and the value of your personal creativity. Don't let it go to your head. If you do, your significant other will correct it when you get home. Nonetheless, things should go surprisingly well on the romantic side provided you don't trip over your ego.

January 26: New Moon today in your 6th House of work, health and pets, as if it hasn't been busy enough these days. The reason for this is that numerous planets are all bunched up together and are playing leap-frog, resulting in lots of bumps and bruises along the way. Attention at work is going to add to your responsibilities some more. Be realistic in your expectations regarding the reward you're dreaming up for all your hard work. Especially don't blow smoke at your significant other or it will bite you later. Showing some special attention to him or her will be very beneficial today, so make it happen in some way. Again, remember to keep your drive focused on a realistic goal separate from your dreams.

January 27: An influx of creativity will fire you up today but be sure to direct it toward those reworks as moving forward on anything new isn't favored as long as your friend, Mercury, is doing the backstroke. Again, be wary of delusions or unsubstantiated facts. Unexpected tensions with relationships at home and work are at it again. Do your best not to make them any worse. Bear in mind that it might not be so much that these individuals aren't supporting you but that they feel the converse is true. Be objective regarding who or what the problem really is.

January 30: More escalation of the scope of work will continue to cause friction regarding your responsibilities. Maybe you're being dumped on and don't feel you're paid sufficiently or recognized adequately for your contribution. Maybe your sense of self-importance is getting a bit out of hand. Maybe your ego is bulging like a bad tire and lining you up for a crash. On the other hand, if you handle it correctly it will bring you credit and rewards later. Mercury goes direct in a few days, after which things will move forward again, so be as patient as possible until then.
