Lunations and Long-term Aspects There is quite a bit of astrological activity out there right now including a few things that will be active for several months. One of them, that Saturn - Pluto square, was discussed in your November horoscope since the aspect was exact on November 15. However, it is hanging in there for quite a while and due to retrograde motion it will be exact again on January 31 and last until mid-March. Then it will resume again between July 22 - September 16. As a reminder from last month, Saturn in Libra, your 12th House of enlightenment, dreams, inspiration, confinement, seclusion, the collective consciousness, institutions, self-undoing, and hidden enemies. Saturn is all about responsibility, structure, obligations, delays, authority figures, and hard lessons, which isn't a particularly easy or obvious fit with your 12th House. In fact, there isn't much of a match there at all unless you want to get involved with your local hospital or prison, become a hermit, or really get into yoga or transcendental meditation. If you keep having this nagging thought that you should spend more time meditating, then this would be the source. Otherwise, do the mix and match routine between those various elements and see what matches up with anything going in your life presently or looming on the horizon. Your Sign Ruler, Pluto, is in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and short journeys. This is a very natural fit for Scorpios and will further enhance your ability to perceive and understand things at a much deeper level than those around you. As it is no one can keep a secret from you and this will strengthen that even further. Your reasoning powers will be formidable and you'll be able to synthesize information in a way that no computer could ever touch. When you put Saturn and Pluto together in hard aspect, this still isn't a particularly ominous influence for Scorpios. Both planets have quite the reputation for being astrological "bad boys" but you're already used to dealing with one of them. This is likely to be a time when you really hone those discernment skills. Various situations or events may come along that test those skills and facilitate their development, but this should primarily simply serve to polish and refine a talent that your Natal Chart already provided. I know someone with Pluto in the 3rd House natally and I can't begin to tell you how useful that can be. In a nutshell, this is someone who is the auditor from hell. Catching people in double-talk is a piece of cake as well as incredibly intuitive technical skills. However, there's one caution I need to throw in here and that is to guard against your natural tendency to obsess. You may not even be aware of it when you get into that mode and Pluto is going to make it all too easy. A certain amount can be very useful and motivating, but you need to be aware that you can reach a point of diminishing returns. Be aware of this possibility and build in some safety valves, even if it's a matter of having at trusted friend whom you can go to for some feedback on whether you've crossed the line into obsession. Needless to say this friend shouldn't be another Scorpio. Considering that both these planets are also in Cardinal Signs, these influences will definitely enhance your leadership skills and ability to make sound decisions. These can come in handy regardless of what you occupation is, especially in today's economy. This is a transit that is definitely worth exploiting for all it's worth. Other Signs are going to be counting the days until it's passed, but if I know Scorpios, this is one that you should thrive on. However, there are a few areas where this could possibly bite you, i.e. with your own secrets or covert activities. If you have any old issues floating around that haven't been properly resolved, have been careless with your spiritual life, or used your Scorpio talents for inappropriate purposes, these could bite you during this time as it's possible that these will be exposed. Things like unpaid parking tickets or anything you've done that isn't entirely above board or is illegal are primary targets. If you know you have something lurking in your past that fits this category, you'd best do what you can to take care of business before it takes care of you. Remember that the 12th is the House of self-undoing, so if you have any self-defeating habits, Saturn is going to be on them like white on rice. The bottom line is that this transit has a lot of potential for being very fortuitous for you, unless you have anything lurking in your past you need to clean up. If so, I'd get to it as quickly as possible which will enable you to then use this energy in a very beneficial manner. Another long-term influence is Mars, your ancient sign ruler, going retrograde on December 20. This only happens every two years and two months, which obviously isn't something that occurs on a regular basis. The shadow period for this retrograde period will last until May 17, which is when Mars will return to the zodiacal degree where he first went retrograde; true progress won't be attained until this point or beyond. Mars is in Leo during this sting, your 10th House of career, reputation, status, and public image. The typical influence for Mars retrograde is to make you more reactive as opposed to active and to also flush out unresolved conflict. Since Mars is in a somewhat wide but nonetheless effective opposition with Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, in your 4th House, this could also easily relate to your home environment in some way. This is a favorable time to develop more patience, use that Pluto transit to think about what you say before you say it, and consider how you can be more effective in public and private. If your birthday is between October 23 - November 13, at some time during this transit Mars will be square your Natal Sun and forming a loose T-Square with those planets in your 4th House. Be particularly alert around December 10 for something to come up at home and/or with your career, status and reputation. This will provide a bit of a prologue of things to come. The energy in this event will seem to evaporate on the 20th, but in reality it's simply going covert. Around January 29 it will come to a head, be mostly resolved shortly after Mars goes direct in March and hopefully completely taken care of by mid-May. There are two Full Moons this month, the first one on December 2 in Gemini, your 8th House of sex, death and regeneration, shared resources, and transformations. This is the house that Scorpio rules zodiacally so again you're on familiar ground. A Full Moon heralds an ending or sometimes a culmination where something shifts to another level. This is likely to have financial or sexual overtones based on the location of the Sun and Moon especially since there's a square between Mercury and Uranus that could kick something off from your 5th House of ego definition, children, romantic interests, speculations and entertainment. Mercury is also sextile Neptune in your 4th House of home environment, denoting a potential opportunity though you never quite know how Neptune is going to behave. With Mercury in your 2nd House of finance, possessions, needs and pleasures, this could bring news or information that is inspirational or something could also dissolve or go away relative to home. What ever it is, use that Pluto transit to flush out the facts and figure out what's going on. The New Moon on December 16 is in Sagittarius, your 2nd House of finances, possessions and so forth as mentioned earlier. This should bring something new in this area or a phase shift related to the Full Moon on the 2nd. There are numerous sextiles to those planets in your 4th House of home environment, so it's highly likely that something is going on with your home and finances and sextiles typically represent opportunities, so this looks favorable. There's a square to Uranus in your House of children, lovers, ego and such, however, so a disruption or unexpected event is lurking out there with this as well. Venus is in your 2nd House of finance, which would usually be a good thing, except she is also squaring Uranus so that may not bode well for your wallet, and right before the holidays at that. Some adjustments that relate to your career or status are called for which will set you in a slightly different direction or bring something new to consider. Interactions with the opposite sex look generally favorable, but some conflicts between home and career or related to home that affect your reputation, are likely; remember that Mars goes retrograde in four days. The third lunation this month and second Full Moon is also a Lunar Eclipse, giving it quite a bit more punch. This eclipse is part of the family known as 12 North of the Saros Series and according to eclipse guru, Bernadette Brady, it's generic effect is to provide the opportunity to assume more responsibility, usually because someone else is no longer able to do so. The eclipse occurs in fellow Water Sign, Cancer, your 9th House, which comprises your beliefs and expectations, higher learning, legal matters, cultural interactions, relocation and long-distance travel. At the time of the eclipse both Mars and Mercury are retrograde, implying the need to rework something in order to resolve some old issue, thus setting a new course, even if it's no more than adopting a new attitude about the issue at hand. It's very likely that all three lunations will be connected and that there are some significant things coming along to sort out. Having Pluto firing up your thoughts, however, is bound to be to your advantage. Daily and Short-Term Aspects December 1: Venus goes into Sagittarius, bringing her blessings to your finances. However, before you get too excited, make sure that a former source of income doesn't disappear. There's a slight chance for some inspiration that will be beneficial in this area, but don't count on it or be too quick to spend it. December 2: Full Moon as described above. December 4: Think about what your dreams are and why they're only dreams. Put together a plan to get there. December 5: Mercury goes into Capricorn, which will further facilitate your ability to think quickly and gather information. Watch your back today. If anyone is out to get you, especially someone you thought was a friend, they'll be up to something today that could affect your status or reputation. December 7: If you're doing research, need to obtain some information, or just plain figure something out that has some missing pieces, things don't get much better than they are today to do so. If it requires a plan, there are good vibes for doing that, too. December 8: If there's something going on with your career, status or reputation, there should be a lot of activity related to it today. Take the bull by the horns and make it work in your favor. December 10: You may be disappointed with someone in your household today encounter an annoyance of some description. Expect a burst of activity with regard to that career/reputation issue as noted above for the upcoming Mars retrograde period. December 11: Don't believe everything you hear today and be on the lookout for deception. This should be relatively easy to spot given Pluto is enhancing your perceptions and forensic ability. December 14 - 15: Expect the unexpected, particularly as it pertains to romance, children or your finances. Not a good time to spend money foolishly. December 16: New Moon today as described above. December 17: Favorable for interactions with the opposite sex. Also a time to move forward with any idea you have that can affect your career or that ongoing status or reputation matter. December 19: Another day to be on the lookout for surprises, especially as they pertain to your children, sibling or neighbor, probably a female. December 20: Mars goes retrograde today, as described above. Be somewhat wary of any ideas that come along today because they may be nothing but hot air, particularly if there's an element of selfishness to them. It's a good day for enjoying yourself with family, but don't take any financial risks. December 21: The Sun goes into Capricorn today, further illuminating your thought processes, interactions with siblings and neighbors, and probably a busy time with lots of running around doing errands. Continue to enjoy family activities but financial risks or being unrealistic won't end well. A change of course is probably warranted with that career/reputation/status issue. December 24: A day of significant insights and understanding with a lot of potential for resolving old issues, particularly as they pertain to neighbors or siblings. December 25: Venus goes into Capricorn, bringing her blessings to your thought processes, relationships with siblings and neighbors, and and short trips you have planned. Insights and inspirations are highly likely which will provide some direction relative to your spiritual development. More developments on that career/status issue is also possible. December 26: Mercury goes retrograde today so resist any temptations to buy anything mechanical or electronic at those after Christmas sales. However, this marks the beginning of about a three week period that will be very useful for reviewing the year and putting things in order. December 27: Watch your back today, particularly with regard to that career/reputation/status issue. Contact from an authority figure is possible who probably doesn't have your best interests at heart. December 28: Your ability to communication in a very seductive way will be greatly enhanced today. It's also favorable for unearthing information with financial or romantic overtones. A very stimulating encounter with the opposite sex is possible. December 29: Continue to be on the lookout for anyone who may be trying to undermine you and whatever you do don't give them a stick to beat you with via your behavior.
