Lunations and Long Term Aspects

This month the Full  Moon brings another eclipse which will further reinforce the two we had in July.  This one is in the same Saros family, i.e. 11-South, the effect of which is to bring about sudden reforms, institute new and innovative ways for approaching situations and problems, and removing obstacles as required in a potentially sudden and forceful manner.  These effects will show up according to the House where it occurs, which in the case of Virgos is your 6th House of work, health and pets.  The 6th zodiacal house is the one Virgo rules, so this is familiar ground for you.  Consider "work" in all its applications which includes your day job, puttering you do around the house, hands-on activities where you're making something, or just about anything that occupies your time.  This is the house of productivity and movement.  (There's already some weird stuff going on in this part of your life thanks to that stellium comprising Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, but we'll get to that later.)

One of the aspects accompanying this eclipse that you need to think about is a Triangle of Potential (ToP) between Pluto, Venus and your Sign Ruler, Mercury.  Pluto is currently camped out for the long-haul in your 5th House of creativity, ego, children, romance, speculation and entertainment.  This is an interesting placement for Pluto, whom you would normally think of a planet who definitely isn't welcome in what should ordinarily be a rather pleasant domain.  However, in the case of Virgos, who tend to be workaholics, this could be a good thing.  Maybe his function is to teach you to play and enjoy yourself more.  If you look at this part of your life and realize you don't do much to enjoy yourself, then it's time to institute some balance in your life and figure out what you can do that will fulfill this activity while not violating your need for productivity.  Maybe you need to spend more time with your kids, your significant other, or simply relax more with something you enjoy doing.  It could also mean to take a very close look at future investments.

Pluto is opposing Venus, who's typically rather pleasant no matter where she visits, and occupying your 11th House of groups, associations, friends, coworkers, and goals.  The opposition involved implies that up until now your friends or involvement with an organization or even pursuing your own self-defined goals have kept you from enjoying yourself.  However, in the context of finding things to do that are pleasant, this also seems like a logical place to look.  Thus, Pluto and Venus could work well together in achieving this for you.  The coup de gras is the fact that the apex of this ToP is occupied by Mercury in your 1st House of personality.  This puts you in the driver's seat to develop ideas that will nicely fulfill this aspect with even more help coming your way by virtue of the fact this is all incorporated into an eclipse.

A lunar eclipse usually works upon us internally whereas a solar eclipse can stir up events around us.  Thus, this is something you need to think about and ponder, then act on accordingly.  So far, so good.  Another aspect in this eclipse with a bearing on all this are your career ambitions, which are directly tied in with your sense of responsibility.  This part of your life should be in relatively good shape right now, so try to turn down the gain on the Virgo propensity for worry, and concentrate of relaxing more to reduce the stress in your life.  I know that Virgos like to complain, criticize and gripe, but there isn't much fodder for that in this eclipse.  You should count yourself extremely lucky in this, because other signs will not have nearly as pleasant of a challenge from this particular eclipse.

The New Moon on August 20 is in Leo, your 12th House of spirituality, dreams, inspiration, enlightenment, the collective consciousness, hidden enemies, confinement and institutions.  This is largely a woo-woo house with things that are just beneath the surface or have meaning beyond the obvious.  A New Moon usually brings something new into your life or at the least, a new phase.  This lunation is jam-packed with aspects that are stirring up all sorts of stuff.  The real question, of course, if whether it's as friendly as that eclipse.

One aspect that doesn't look very friendly is a T-square that comprises Saturn, Mercury, Uranus and Mars.  Saturn and Mercury are both in Virgo, stimulating your thoughts and ability to communicate and sense of obligation and responsibility, respectively.  Uranus is in your 7th House of relationships and has been for quite a while.  Remember that relationships in a 7th house context includes not only your significant other but close friends and family, business partners, and anyone with whom you have a one-on-one relationship, including clients, if you're in business for yourself.  Uranus in this house would tend to bring unpredictability to this part of your life.  These people may come and go unexpectedly, be unconventional or rebellious in some way, or be full of surprises.

As you tie this into the T-square, you can see how your obligations to these important people in your life could create a tug-o-war with your plans or sense of stability and responsibility.  Mars is at the apex in Gemini, your 10th House of career and reputation.  Mars in this locale implies either your own ambitions or perhaps conflicts or competition coming at you.  In a nutshell, however, this aspect easily represents the balance between your own personal ambitions, dealing with close friends, relatives, your sig other and your career.  Expect something new in this area to come along this month.

There are three ToP's with this lunation which further throws options and decisions your way.  One involves the New Moon itself which is opposite Neptune, implying something is hidden or deceptive about your work or health.  Be on the lookout for anyone trying to undermine or deceive you, though in some way, this could turn to your advantage and help you advance yourself.  Not a bad thing, if you stay on your toes.  Another one involves that sense of personal responsibility, those erratic relationships, and your friends, group ties, or goals.  In this case, your friends or group ties will provide an outlet for dealing with those other areas.  The third one also involves the New Moon in your woo-woo 12th House along with unearthing something regarding your creative side and career ambitions.  This implies that you should seek to discover some need side or element of your creativity that will benefit your satisfaction with life as well as further your career goals.  Again, not a bad thing.

Also tagging along with this New Moon is a double yod.  Also known as the finger of God, these aspects tend to point us in a certain direction that will involve a change of course, adjustments, or sometimes Catch-22 situations.  The apex of both are that stellium mentioned earlier that is lurking in your 6th House of work and comprises Neptune, Jupiter and the asteroid, Chiron.  I've been suspicious of this trio since their onset several months ago and so far they have been up to no good.  I personally blame them for that pandemic scare we had a few months ago and expect them to cause more trouble of that nature come winter.  (Consider that a hint to stock up at your local health food store on supplements that will strengthen your immune system.)  In July all three of them were in the same degree for several days and the result was not pretty.

The Readers Digest version, sparing the gore, is that I knew of several deaths and accidents that occurred at that time.  For what it's worth the deaths were peaceful and somewhat expected and included animals who either died or were put to sleep because they were old, but they were deaths nonetheless.  The accidents were another story.  As a quick delineation, knowing how Virgos like details, Jupiter expands whatever he touches, Neptune dissolves and deceives (and rules the flu, by the way) and Chiron, the wounded healer, is typically involved in illness or injury, whether it's physical, mental, emotional, or financial.  And these three bad boys are hanging out in your house of work, health and pets as well as at the eye of those yods.  Thus, be cautious regarding anything at work that could be no more than a bubble of deception that will explode unpleasantly in your face.  Also keep an eye on your health, particularly if you have any vague symptoms you don't understand.

Actually, those yods have two separate eyes, one with Neptune and one with Jupiter, but with the two planets in conjunction, the energy is going to blend regardless.  However, if perhaps it doesn't, you have one that involves opportunities for expanding your stability and/or responsibilities to a group or to pursue your personal goals as they apply to work, possibly due to your work ethic.  The other involves seeking inspiration that takes you on a different course that will also involve those groups or friends or even your personal goals.  Remember that yods imply a change of direction; adjustments and changes are profuse this month.

Short Term Aspects

August 1-3:  Look for something you enjoy doing, perhaps with your friends, a group, or organization that can offer a clue regarding something you've kept buried in the creativity department.  Note your thoughts and communication skills will be sharpened as Mercury enters Virgo on August 2nd, assisting with all this thought and consideration you need to do this month.

August 5:  The Full Moon/lunar eclipse occurs today.

August 7:  Thoughts and ideas relative to your friends, that group, or an organization will offer opportunities of some description.  Take careful note.

August 10:  Watch your back today careerwise.  If there's anyone out to get you, it may come out today.  You may also have a confrontation with an authority figure, or have additional responsibilities dumped on you.  Another possibility is that your sense of security or stability may be threatened in some way.

August 13 - 14:  Those career ambitions are looking more favorable today as you expand your work or a project in some way.  Look for some inspiration to show you the way.

August 17:  This day is loaded as some of the aspects accompanying the New Moon get positioned.  Inspiration on furthering your career is one thing to look for.  Make sure it's not too far-out, however, and that it's feasible before making a big fuss about it and looking foolish because you didn't think it out sufficiently.  Thoughts regarding your stability, fulfilling your responsibilities, and increasing them will direct you toward a change of course.

August 18:  Insights relative to someone close to you is going to require a change of direction.  This could involve an attack on your reputation or conflict at work as opposed to someone in your personal life, though that is also possible.

August 19:  Something is going on today that involves expanding your responsibilities or stability as it applies to a group or organization and either the work you do for them or perhaps networking within that circle to improve your situation on the job.

August 20 - 22:  Inspiration relative to work or a project will require a change of direction.  Surprise opposition from someone at work is likely.  The Sun goes into Virgo on the 22nd, which will bring attention and some extra personal power your way to help you achieve your goals.  One of your friends or coworkers may intervene in your behalf and offer helpful insights.  Be sure to give the entire package a good sanity check before proceeding, however.

August 23 - 25:  Today is a really good day to find that hidden talent or creativity.  Look to do something new and different that you've always been interested in or would like to try.  You may surprise yourself how well you do.  Mercury goes into Libra, your 2nd House of finances, possessions, pleasures and values today.  This could bring some unfavorable news that hinders your career ambitions or reputation in some way.  Mars goes into Cancer, your 11th House of groups and friends today as well.

August 26:  If you discovered something entertaining the other day you'd like to pursue, you may discover today that it costs more than you can afford.  If it involved speculation, today you may find out it wasn't a good investment, hopefully before you put out the money.  Activities with friends or some organization will also throw some opposition toward any new creative efforts, time with your kids, or romantic efforts.  Venus enters Leo on the 26th, bringing her blessings to your 12th House of inspiration, dreams, and such.

August 27 - 28:  Use Venus' boost to your ability to access inspiration to look for more information relative to that change of direction with your creativity, kids, romance, or self-expression.  If you haven't found something in this area you hadn't know before or had been keeping buried, give it some serious thought.  Is there something you always wanted to learn to do or pursue that you've kept buried?  What is crying for attention or expression that you've been ignoring?  Have you been such a blatant workaholic that you've been ignoring your kids or lover?  Think about it.  And watch for opportunities of a financial nature while you're at it.
