Lunations and Long-term Aspects The New Moon this month is on the 13th in Taurus, your 12th House of inspiration, dreams, enlightenment, seclusion, confinement, institutions, self-undoing and hidden enemies as well as the collective consciousness. Any questions? Hahaha. Obviously this is a rather esoteric house which I have nicknamed the "woo-woo" house. This house contains your angels and demons, so to speak, as well as interactions with society at a fairly personal level when you consider it includes such things as hospitals and prisons. This is where you can achieve transcendence and the highest realms of spirituality, at least escape reality for a spell, and likewise find those who undermine you in secret or even ways in which you sabotage yourself. So a New Moon in this house is likely to bring something new into your life that fits this rather diverse buffet of items. Other aspects involved don't seem to indicate this to be the threshold of Nirvana, but that doesn't mean you need to brace yourself for Dante's Level #9 either; I'm sure that those of you who live in the Northeast and Midwest already saw plenty of that this past winter and may still be digging yourself out, or possibly swimming your way out. To get right down to business, the most active planet in this lunation is Saturn who's retrograde in Virgo, your 4th House of home environment. Saturn is that wise and patient mentor who is going to make sure you toe the line, like it or not. While retrograde he's sniffing out anything that needs to be restructured and in detail-oriented Virgo I'm sure he'll find a few things to nit-pick. He started the backstroke in Libra, however, your 5th House of creativity, ego definition, children, romance, entertainment and speculation, so you can expect to see some remodeling there as well. For those of you born within a day or so of June 20th this is likely to be most noticeable as he squares your Natal Sun. Now is the time to put some discipline behind your home and get organized. I know that Gemini's usually have their own methods of organization which typically includes a lot of sticky notes everywhere from the computer hutch to the refrigerator. This is probably not exactly what Saturn has in mind. Saturn is trining the New Moon, however, which is generally a friendly aspect. This implies that perhaps you'll experience a soul-enhancing "Aha!" moment that will provide all the answers for any challenges you're having at home. You can always hope. Saturn doesn't stop there, however. He's opposing both Jupiter and Uranus, conjunct in Pisces, your 10th House of career, reputation, public image and status. Those of you with birthdays around June 20th are thus going to be having all sorts of challenges that pit your private and public lives against each other since this opposition will create a T-square with your Natal Sun. Maybe that New Moon is a friendly hint from the Universe to take up yoga or perhaps to start stocking up on your adult beverage of choice. Getting back to that Jupiter - Uranus conjunction, Jupiter was the ancient ruler of Pisces prior to Neptune's discover, so he's quite comfortable in that environment. His presence tends to exaggerate and inflate whatever is going on in that venue, which in this case is your 10th house. Most people automatically think career for this house, but it includes all your public life. Anything that's in the public record or might appear in the newspaper is included in this locale. For example, if you buy or sell property (particularly for the first time); open or close a business; get married or divorced; graduate or drop out of school; receive an award or honor or get arrested; get promoted or fired, and so forth, these all fit under "status." So if you've seen an increase in activities of this sort since the first of the year, this is why. He appears to leave Pisces next month, but he'll be back due to retrograde motion in September and won't be gone for good (or at least the next 12 years) until late January 2011. His current partnership with Uranus will really keep things jumping since Uranus rules disruptions, sudden change, the unexpected, rebellion, breaking free, and innovation. Uranus appears to leave later this month but don't get too excited because he'll be back in August and not leave for good until next March. So chaos is likely to prevail for quite a while with a brief hiatus here and there. All of this is opposing poor Saturn who is trying to get your organized and restructured at home. Needless to say, you can expect to not be bored anytime soon. Saturn is also quincunx Neptune in fellow Air Sign, Aquarius, your 9th House of higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, travel to unfamiliar places, politics, religion, your personal beliefs and expectations, and relocation. Neptune is quite antithetical to Saturn. Neptune dissolves boundaries while Saturn establishes them. Neptune is all about escaping reality while Saturn rubs your nose it in. A quincunx denotes an adjustment or change of course, however, so in this case the two may work together effectively if Neptune helps you make a few changes which will ultimately make it easier to restructure things at home. On the other hand, if you've been a little bit too much under the influence of Neptune (who rules alcohol, by the way) lately, maybe that is where you need to tighten things up. Gemini's love to learn and explore with a hands-on approach to life, but maybe you've been a bit too carried away in that area and need to focus more on your home and what's going on there. Take a look without the rose colored glasses or blinders and decide. Your Sign Ruler, Mercury, is in Taurus where he's trining Pluto in Capricorn, your 8th House of transformations, debt, shared resources, inheritances, death and sex. Pluto rules the zodiacal 8th House of Scorpio so he has an affinity for this locale and Mercury is inviting his input. All of this bodes well for ridding yourself of any old baggage that is holding you back. A useful analogy is that of cleaning out the garage or attic to make room for newer more useful stuff. However, this may be more on the mental than physical plane, but watch for it. Knowing how Gemini loves to multiplex, this may be your wake-up call to simplify your life. Last but not least, Jupiter is squaring Venus who's in your Sign. Venus in your sign is a rather nice transit as this enhances everything about you. You'll be perceived more positively by others and it can even make you more attractive. Both of these planets are considered benefic so about the only thing a hard aspect like a square does is tend to make you a bit over-confident. Watch out for that, particularly in public or your career or you may bite off more than you can chew and certainly not make any progress toward simplifying your life. The Full Moon on May 27th is in your polar sign, Sagittarius, which is your 7th House of close relationships. These include your significant other; close friends and relatives with whom you interact on a regular, even daily, basis; business partners; competitors and open enemies, or those people whom you know aren't your friends; and business professionals such as your tax advisor, accountant, hair stylist, attorney and so forth. A Full Moon usually brings an ending, culmination or at least a shift to a new phase, so look for someone to either leave or perhaps shift to a different level. By this time the Sun is in Gemini so this lunation is going to be particularly strong if your birthday is within a day or so of May 28. Saturn's aspects are largely the same to Neptune, Jupiter and Uranus, except at this time Uranus has slipped into Aries, effectively putting this unstable planet on steroids. Aries is your 11th House of friends, organizations, groups and goals so you can expect things to be hopping in that area. It's not rocket science to figure out how this is going to oppose Saturn's efforts to instill more order and discipline at home. Pluto is squaring Uranus, implying some of these experiences will be intense and be of a transformational nature. Mercury is sextile Venus, now in Cancer, your 2nd House of finance, income, needs and pleasures, which should be very favorable for inspiration ideas that help you relax or possibly enhance your income in some manner. Neptune is opposing Mars in Leo, which will pit any new thoughts or ideas you want to get off the ground against more enduring things such as going to school or any of those other 9th House issues such as religion and politics, beliefs and travel, or even relocation, depending on your circumstances. The Gemini Sun and Pluto are quincunx, implying there will be some personal transformations coming your way this month. Daily and Short-term Aspects May 2: Keep an eye out for that change or adjustment that needs to be made between your home and outside pursuits. If you've been pursuing your dreams a bit more single-mindedly than you should, it might be time to spend more time with members of your household. May 3: If possible, find some time today for contemplation and meditation, or feed your soul in whatever manner suits you. It's time for some personal change and enlightenment so create the proper environment to be able to perceive the message. May 4: Those thoughts and ideas you're trying to pursue may hit a wall today. Especially make sure that you're not sabotaging yourself in any manner. Also keep an eye on your siblings and neighbors, especially any who may not have your best interests at heart. May 7: A favorable day for communicating with members of the opposite sex and exchanging ideas generally. May 10: Mercury, your Sign Ruler, comes out of retrograde, which should help you to think more clearly than over the past few weeks. It will also allow things electronic and mechanical to function properly again. May 13: New Moon in Taurus as described above. May 17: Watch out for being over-confident today. Don't over-extend yourself your take on another huge project if you already have a full plate. I know that's hard for a Gemini, but recognize your limitations. Listen to your instincts and decide whether it's really in your best interest or simply beneficial to someone else. May 18: This is a great day to start confronting a few things that you don't like to do but will be in your best interest, like balancing your checkbook. Dreaming about something you'd really like to do, study or experience is fine, but don't mistake it for reality. Again, follow that voice inside your head that's telling you to simplify your life, not complicate it. May 19: A good day for some soul-searching and taking a good, hard look at your dreams in the light of reality. You are likely to see things slightly differently than before. Something unexpected has the potential to be a challenge yet ultimately make you look good. May 20: You're likely to encounter some disruptions or surprises that will contain an opportunity, so see it for what it is. Venus goes into Cancer today, which will be fortuitous for your finances and income. May 21: The Sun goes into Gemini today. May 22: Expanding your career, status or public image is likely to conflict with your home life today. May 23: You may encounter a decision related to your finances and debt load today. A certain amount of luck is on your side, but don't neglect the facts. Dig deeply enough to be sure you have all the facts and look to your past experience as well. May 25: Further insight into something that will necessitate a course change will bring you closer to a personal transformation of some description is out there today. May 27: Full Moon in Sagittarius as described above. May 28: Uranus goes into Aries, bringing the potential for disruptions and surprises with regard to your friends and group associations as well as your goals. May 30: Saturn goes direct, ending a retrograde period of over four months. The specifics on what needs to be restructured in your life will begin to surface and work will begin which will be complete by the first part of September. |
