Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the Full Moon is in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, you 9th House of beliefs, expectations, higher education, legal matters, relocation, other cultures and long-distance travel. A Full Moon marks a culmination which may be an ending but can also be the closing out of one phase in preparation for the next, in which case the New Moon may provide some clues. Meanwhile, this lunation has a few aspect patterns that will also provide more information to consider regarding what's going on in your life. First and most obvious is a Yod, also known as a Finger of God, that comprises Mars and Mercury in sextile at the base and Neptune at the eye. Mars is in Cancer, your 12th House of dreams, inspiration, enlightenment, confinement, institutions, self-undoing, and hidden enemies. Obviously that is quite a spread as far as influences are concerned, some quite pleasant and others not so much. Nonetheless, that should give you something to think about, particularly with Mars stirring things up in that vicinity of your life. Mars packs a lot of energy, though in soggy Cancer he's not quite as lovely as some others. The trick with Mars is if you don't use the energy constructively, it's possible that it will be reflected back at you via aggression or some similar action by someone else. Give that some thought while pondering on the law of karma a bit. Mercury is in your 2nd House of possessions, finances, personal values, needs, and pleasures. Mercury is fairly neutral as planets go with his primary function to facilitate communications, deliver data or goods, and rule over mechanical devices of all descriptions. He just came out of retrograde in late September so is gaining momentum again after causing quite a bit of frustration, some of which you probably witnessed. He won't be fully back to normal until mid-October but he's getting there. Mars and Mercury in sextile in these two Houses should generate some useful considerations relative to your financial situation. If they're not everything you'd like them to be, and few people can say that these days, this is a very favorable time to take a very close look at what is going on in that part of your life. The ties to your 12th House should provide some serious inspiration to help you figure out if you have any self-defeating behaviors that have contributed to any problems in the financial area. If you have everything under perfect control in that part of your life, then it can manifest in a variety of other ways, including someone trying to get their hands on some of your assets or undermine you in some way. If you're comfortable but would like to improve, this will be useful as well to determine how that can be accomplished. Use that Leo creativity tuned into some cosmic enlightenment and then gather the information you need to take action. Neptune at the eye of the Yod is in Aquarius, your 7th House of relationships. Remember that relationships in the astrological context include close friends and relatives, your significant other, business partners, cliental if you're in business for yourself, and open enemies. Neptune has been there for quite a while, so long, in fact, that you're probably entirely oblivious to his influence in this part of your life. Neptune is ruler of the Zodiacal 12th House where he presides over dreams, inspiration, and all those things noted earlier associated with that domain. What you have to watch with Neptune is that you recognize what he throws your way is seldom real. He's master of illusions and delusions and while he can deliver incredibly beautiful dreams and enlightenment, you need to keep them in their proper place. He can really bite you in the 7th House if you start falling for the idealism he can also promote, which will cause you to have unrealistic expectations of the people in your life. Leos tend to be romantic by nature and with Neptune in the 7th, you'll expect that knight in shining armor (or perfect princess of your dreams) to never do anything that will disappoint you. This can line you up for hurts of your own doing. A very good thought to tattoo in your mind in this respect is that you can't expect perfection if you can't offer it. All right, Mr. or Ms. Leo, cut that out. You are NOT perfect, even if you are rather charming. Moving right along and assembling those planets and aspects together to define that Yod, Neptune is connected with Mars and Mercury through quincunxes, which denote a change of course or adjustment. He is attempting to draw from their energy and point you in a slightly different direction than you've been in the past. Stepping back to the general these of that sextile which comprises inspiration regarding your finances as one possibility, Neptune in your 7th implies that someone close to you within the context of that House could provide the inspiration or enlightenment you need to find new direction in this part of your life. Between Neptune and Mars in the 12th House, there's a lot of woo-woo stuff involved. This is not necessarily a bad thing because inspiration is good. Just don't mistake it for reality--yet. Recognize that it's going to require a little more on your part to make it happen as well as trusting in the Universe to lend a hand. But having a goal to strive for, even an ambitious one, is not a bad thing. Another aspect pattern associated with the Full Moon is a Triangle of Potential (ToP) that also involves that Mars - Mercury sextile, but in this case the third planet is Uranus, who generates sudden change, disruptions, rebellion, breaking free, and the unexpected. He's in your 8th House of transformations, sex, death, shared resources, and debt. You never quite know how Uranus' energy will manifest; whatever you may expect is going to surprise you nearly every time. He has been hanging out in your 8th House for quite a while as another slow-mover so you've probably had quite a variety of experiences over the past several years that have changed you in one way or another. Surprises with those other 8th House elements have probably been fairly profuse as well. The good news with this ToP is that while what he's up to is contrary to some of the common sense ideas you may be entertaining, Mars is in the driver's seat on this one, implying that you can take charge and make just about anything happen that you set your mind and heart to. So go ahead and define those dreams and map out a preliminary path to get there. The remaining aspects carry some assistance as well as few more challenges. Saturn is squaring Pluto, an aspect between two stern, no-nonsense planets that will be prodding you to do some soul-searching with regard to your financial aspirations as they relate to your work. This could be a matter of the work itself or possibly how hard you've been willing to apply yourself to get what you want. Saturn is also opposing Uranus, which will institute a bit of a tug-o-war between stability and major change. Remember if you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got. Saturn and Mercury in that house of finance, needs and values is trining the North Node, also in your 6th House of work, health and pets, which is a positive indicator of something new on the way in this part of your life. Watch for ideas, information, and/or help from a mentor to discover a new direction. Another indicator for a change of course in a positive manner is a quincunx between Venus and Jupiter, two benefic planets who are located in your 2nd House of finance and 7th House of relationships. This implies that someone you know fairly well may be instrumental in helping you identify where you need to go. And thus shines the Full Moon, giving you plenty to think about. The New Moon on October 18 is in Libra, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors. Saturn and Uranus are still pulling against each other, creating a dialog between more stability and breaking free. This could play out in a variety of ways where breaking free from where you are could ultimately result in more stability or perhaps you may need to put forth a large dose of faith and walk away from something more stable in order to pursue something better. This pair is part of another ToP associated with the North Node of the Moon, that harbinger of something new coming into your life in your 6th House of work, health or pets. In this case the North Node is in the driver's seat, offering to stabilize that decision once you decide what you want to do. The New Moon itself, which by definition is a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, is quincunx Uranus, once again implying a new direction, adjustment or change of course. With the New Moon in your house of thoughts and ideas, it's apparent that this is where this entire process needs to start, with your thinking. You still need to be looking hard at your financial habits and attitude toward your possessions and how they relate to your job situation. If you are having significant trouble in this area, it could also be stirring up a few health problems, which of course is the last thing you need, but stress tends to weaken us physically and make us more prone to illness. As a Fixed Sign, Leos don't like or embrace change so this will not be especially comfortable. The "known" is typically more comfortable than the "unknown," even if you aren't too enchanted with your current situation. Your creativity is usually manifested in nonproductive ways, not new directions, so this probably isn't something that gets you all fired up as a new adventure. You do have a fair share of natural optimism as part of your astrological endowment from the cosmos, however, so raise your sites accordingly. There is a nice, harmonious trine from that New Moon to Neptune which should help generate some inspiration. Since he's in your 7th House of relationships, this implies that it will be someone close to you that provides this or perhaps simply helps by encouraging you. Thus, don't keep your thoughts and ideas to yourself. Share them with those you trust, do some serious brainstorming, and see what you can come up with that may create a vision you'll feel inclined to pursue. Short-term Aspects October 1: You may encounter a disappointment today that gives you a lot to think about. This could be the trigger for further considerations and action as the month progresses. October 4: Full Moon today as described above. October 8 - 9: Thoughts related to your responsibilities and obligations will be on the forefront today. These will tend toward being positive but possibly disruptive as your imagination starts to forge new pathways. Mercury goes into Libra on the 9th, further stimulating your thoughts and ideas. It may also stir up various activities related to neighbors or siblings. October 10: A favorable day to get together with someone you know and trust. This should be someone you can bare your soul to, if required. You need to be thinking about your job and health situation and what you need to transform this part of your life, if it's not where you'd like it to be. October 12 - 13: Jupiter goes direct today which will have an expansive effect on your relationships. This may help you understand them more fully as well as contribute in a more meaningful way. You may encounter a challenge regarding your financial obligations. Do what you can to build a positive solution with any authority figures rather than just going off with that Leo temper. This will be particularly easy if the person is of the opposite sex. October 14 - 15: Venus goes into Libra on the 14th, bringing her blessings to your thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors. She is also good at handling and generating money, so she'll help you with some of those financial challenges. She will even help you do some forensic analyses on your past, particularly as it relates to work and experiences there. October 16: Mars goes into Leo today, bringing his energy to your personality. Be sure to use this in a positive manner and be careful that you're not perceived as aggressive. Enthusiastic is good, but don't be too pushy. An unexpected "Aha!" moment is also out there so watch for that lightbulb to come on and pay attention. October 18: New Moon today as described above. October 23: The Sun goes into Scorpio today, your 4th House of home environment, bringing light and emphasis to that part of your life for the next month. October 24: Continue to give some deep consideration to your past jobs, projects, and activities. Opportunities are there if you look closely enough. Some may even be related to your home. More "Aha!" moments are possible which will all help nudge you toward any needed changes. Listen to what the Universe is trying to tell you and be open to inspiration. October 28: Mercury goes into Scorpio today, stimulating thoughts and ideas as well as communication in general related to your home or bringing it right to your door. Check that mailbox, you never know what might have found its way to your door. You may even think of someone to contact that could be helpful. This could even be someone or something from your past. October 29: Saturn goes into Libra, bringing discipline and structure to your thoughts and ideas that will help you organize them, network with the appropriate mentors, and define a solid plan. Conflicts on the homefront are possible. Use that energy for something constructive, don't direct it toward someone who cares and wants to help.
