Lunations and Long-Term Aspects This month the Full Moon on the 4th occurs in Aries, your 10th House of career, reputation, and status. Career and reputation are pretty obvious in meaning, but status is a bit ambiguous, so let me explain that a bit. Status is more than being rich or famous. One way to think about it would be in terms of titles or even labels. For example, when you graduate from high school or college your status changes. Same when you get married, divorced, have a child, your children grow up and leave home, you purchase your first house, publish something, you get a promotion at work or, conversely, get fired, run for public office, retire, and so forth. Something in your life has changed that affects how you're viewed by the public in some way. Get the idea? A Full Moon usually indicates a culmination of some sort which can be either an ending or shifting to a new phase and this month it will be reflected in one of these areas. There are numerous aspects accompanying this lunation, the most obvious of which is a Yod comprising Mars and Mercury at the base and Neptune at the eye. A Yod usually indicates a new direction taking us toward what can be a fated event or destiny. These are especially meaningful in a Natal Chart but also have similar influence in transits. In this case Mars is in Cancer, your 1st House; if your birthday is within a day or so of July 16 this will have an even strong affect. Mercury is in Virgo, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings, and short journeys, which including running errands and such close to home. Mars and Mercury are sextile, which usually denotes an opportunity. In this case, it looks as if you're going to be busy, busy, busy running around doing things, either at a physical or mental level. You may be brimming with new ideas or running errands, but there's not likely to be many dull moments. Mars and Mercury are connected with Neptune by quincunxes, an aspect also known as an inconjunct, and when two of them converge to a single point it usually forms a Yod. Where they converge is called the eye and in this case it's Neptune in Aquarius, your 8th House of transformations, shared resources, debt, sex, and death and regeneration. Remember death is typically figurative here as it includes those things that we need to give up and get rid of to make room for something new. Cancers are usually packrats, so give that particular meaning a bit of thought. Neptune is an illusive planet with a variety of influences that range from inspiration to delusions. Combining his influence into this Yod implies something more on the inspirational side, however, perhaps a new idea, dream, or direction which you'll have a lot of drive to accomplish and will involve a lot of ideas and/or errands. It could also involve your neighbors or siblings in some way. Whatever it is, it's going to come back and reflect on your status in some way or another. Thus, if you've had something in work for a while, this looks like an excellent time to get it off the ground. There are a couple challenges associated with this lunation as well so I may as well get them out of the way. For one, be aware that you're probably going to appear a bit pushy to others, especially those of you born on the 16th. This will be especially noticeable to those close to you and they give some resistance or call you on it. You are heading in a new direction and you'll encounter a few obstacles, so don't be discouraged by them. No worthwhile path doesn't have a few potholes and speedbumps along the way. There will also be a few surprises, disruptions, or unexpected events to deal with that will probably relate to information, your ideas, or news that may have legal implications of some kind. It could also involve academia, relocation, your beliefs and expectations or other cultures, in other words 9th House stuff. If you're dealing with a bureaucracy, corporation, or authority figure they may throw a few things your way as well. Be particularly careful during this time that you don't speed or run stop signs because you're likely to attract the local law enforcement personnel if you do. There may also be a conflict between these same types of entities and something from your past. Past relationships will be particularly prone to spring up in some manner that you don't like. However, there is also strong indications that you will be able to navigate this particular detour successfully with the correct information and a positive attitude which will allow you to continue in that new direction you're heading for. Your personal drive and determination to make a positive change will be enhanced so hang in there and you'll succeed, especially since there's a rather nice chunk of luck floating around that should shift things in the direction you want. And thus shines the Full Moon. The New Moon on October 18th is in Libra, your 4th House of home environment, which indicates something new coming your way at home. There are some nice aspects associated with this lunation as well. Those of you born around July 18 are most likely to notice something changing in your life that is possibly going to come as a one-time opportunity but will make you quite happy. You'll be leaving something behind, but not necessarily in a bad way at all. It's time to leave something behind to make room for something new and better and it's up to you to make it happen. By this time Mars will be in Leo, your 2nd House of possessions, finances, pleasures and needs, giving you the energy to pursue something in this area which will combine nicely through a sextile to Saturn, an aspect that will give you the perseverance you need to work hard and make your efforts fruitful. Some of that old baggage noted earlier that might relate to past relationships will still be around, but keep at it and you'll prevail, even though it will require a few course changes or adjustments on your part. This could also manifest as someone close to you who's on a power trip or trying to control you. This could be a close friend or relative, your significant other, a business partner or, if you're in business for yourself, your cliental. It could even be someone you know is not your friend. The New Moon itself is quincunx Uranus. Considering the New Moon is in your 4th House of home environment and Uranus is in your 9th House, which comprises relocation, a move is possibly coming, though other possibilities include something to do with higher education/going back to school, a long trip, other cultures, a legal matter, or maybe simply your core beliefs. Lots of possibilities there, but they will tie back to your home in some manner and effect a change of course that may be unexpected or even a disruption, but not necessarily a bad one. The New Moon is in a nice, harmonious trine with Neptune, who is in your 8th House of transformations as noted earlier. Neptune rules your dreams and aspirations and is nicely placed in your house of transformation. This trine thus implies positive things as far as the fulfillment of something with a lot of meaning to you, after which you'll be a slightly different person, at least on a spiritual level. The 8th House is also where shared resources and debt reside and since Neptune tends to dissolve things, that could have some interesting implications. Having a debt disappear would certainly be a good thing but having a shared resource disappear may not be such a joyful event. However, with a trine to the New Moon, a more positive outcome is likely. Change is coming your way that will require work on your part, will involve some challenges, but over all should come out to your satisfaction. So those are some of the things you can expect to see from this New Moon. Daily and Short-term Aspects October 1: There's a Yod today between Mars, Mercury and the asteroid, Chiron, which could bring either a disappointment or, conversely, obtaining something you've longed for. Whichever it is, the effect will affect you in a significant manner. October 4: Full Moon today as described above. October 8 - 9: News, thoughts, ideas or even siblings or neighbors are going to cause some hard work on the 8th. On the 9th expect some favorable ideas or events that may take you by surprise but will have a positive effect on your view of the world, perhaps even providing some new inspiration. October 10: Mercury goes into Libra today, facilitating communications at home. The Sun is in Libra most of the month, highlighting this part of your life, and today he'll trine Jupiter, a rather pleasant aspect which should bring luck your way if you're trying to borrow money. It will bring something favorable your way that will have a transformational effect on you even though you'll probably have to deal with a family member regarding some old issue that you've been trying to ignore. October 12 -13: Jupiter goes direct today, releasing his energy so it can manifest more directly in the world around you. You want to go for something and you'll have the ambition and determination you need to go after it along with a bit of luck. Your drive will be perceived in a positive way so if you need some assistance, the 13th is a good day to seek it out. October 14 - 15: Venus goes into Libra on the 14th, bringing her blessings to your home environment. The next day she'll help you finish resolving that issue you've been addressing with that family member or someone else close to you. October 16: Mars goes into Leo, bringing his energy to your 2nd House of possessions, finances, and needs as well as personal values. You will be prone to impulsive spending, which you should avoid. Use the energy to go after something important such as increasing your income or pursuing something you've wanted for a long time. This may bring about a change of course that surprises you but takes you in a much more meaningful direction. It's a good day to identify and redefine your dreams. October 18: New Moon today as described above. October 20: Good ideas related to home are out there today along with quite a bit of good luck. Pursue it; you'll like the result. October 23 - 24: The Sun goes into Scorpio on the 23rd, bringing emphasis to your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, ego expression, entertainment and speculation. This will have a positive effect for any pursuits in those areas. Opportunities for transforming a relationship are out there, either with a child or someone close to you. Unexpected ideas or news related to home is likely as well. Give some more thought and commitment to your dreams so you can define them in a more tangible manner. If you don't know what they are, they're hard to pursue. October 28: Mercury joins the Sun in Scorpio, stimulating your creative thoughts and enhancing communications with your children, romantic interests, or providing new ideas for enjoying yourself or even speculative ventures. Money luck is out there today as it relates to home. If you haven't taken care of those relationship issues yet, you should be able to figure out how to do so today. October 29: Saturn goes into Libra today, bringing a new level of responsibility or obligation to your homelife. Not a good day for financial speculations.
