Lunations and Long Term Aspects This month the Full and New Moon both come with a bonus that comprises an eclipse. This will give them both a lot more punch considering that lunations typically last for a month or so while eclipses can last for over a year. In fact, you may not even notice its effect until several months down the road when you think about it. Conversely, sometimes its effects are noticeable even before it happens. Sometimes an eclipse can hit you like a freight train and others you hardly even know it was there. The one hint you can count on fairly well is which House it occurs in as an indicator. These eclipses are dubbed as 11 South in the Saros Series, a system recognized by the Babylonians as far back as the 4th century B.C.; they'd been predicting them as far back as 747 B.C. I know that you Virgos love details, but suffice it to say that these eclipse families run in cycles that span 18 years and 9-11 days, depending on how many leap-years fell during that time, and last for over a thousand years. Each associated eclipse carries certain characteristics from the first in the series, even though it will also be unique, just as family members have certain traits in common yet maintain their individuality. The general theme for these is that of sudden reforms. Old methods will fail with new means required to solve existing problems. Any obstacles in the way could be suddenly or forcefully removed. Keep this in the back of your mind as you read about their other effects. If you only remember one thing, remember that old methods won't work. If your adult life goes back 18 years, think back to what was going on in your life at that time and there are likely to be some similarities now. The Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse on July 7 occurs in Capricorn, your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, speculation, ego and entertainment; at the time the opposing Sun is in Cancer, your 11th House of groups, organizations, friends, coworkers, hopes and wishes. One aspect coloring this eclipse is a Triangle of Potential formed by Saturn who is sextile the Sun and trine the Moon, thus forming a pivot point to the opposition. Saturn is in Virgo and if your birthday is within a day or so of September 10 then he's conjunct your Natal Sun. This would be a less than joyful transit, but the eclipse could actually help you apply it appropriately. Saturn is all about discipline, delays, obligations, responsibility, authority, restrictions, and structure. This all implies that more personal discipline and responsibility will help you understand and rectify any challenges in those other areas. Another aspect of note is a quincunx between Venus in Gemini, your 10th House of career, public image and reputation, and Pluto in Capricorn, your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, ego, speculation and entertainment. A quincunx typically presents us with a Catch-22, need for a change of plan or adjustment. Venus in your 10th House is a rather pleasant placement that will help your image in that others will see you in a favorable light. You'll be more charming than usual and able to get away with things you typically couldn't; so far, so good. Pluto, however, the zodiacal roto-rooter, is a bit less enchanting. If there's anything you've been ignoring or sweeping under the rug regarding your 5th House, Pluto is going to dig it out and rub your nose in it. As perfectionists, Virgos don't like to be wrong or have their dirty laundry aired, but this is a very real risk with a Pluto transit. It's favorable, however, for resolving old baggage and issues in these areas, but unfortunately that requires facing them as they won't go away on their own accord. If you think about all the public figures who have been forced to confess to affairs lately you can see one of the ways that this can manifest. On the other hand, perhaps you'll simply be handed a very favorable promotion that is going to keep you away from home a lot or away from other interests. Look at the various options, do the mix and match thing and see which combination applies to you. That triple conjunction comprising Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, is still hanging out in Aquarius, your 6th House of work, health and pets, and will be there for a while longer. All three are also retrograde, internalizing their energy; retrograde planets also tend to not deliver as promised. When Jupiter is retrograde he usually focuses on ethics issues and this could certainly find place in the workplace. Bear in mind, however, the difference between work (6th House) and career (10th House). Work is what keeps you busy and occupied and may or may not provide your paycheck. Career in this context is what you're known or recognized for, which also may or may not provide your paycheck. Sometimes these two are one and the same and others they're vastly separated. If you're an accountant working as an auditor, they're essentially the same; if you're a singer at heart but working as a secretary, then they're not. Virgo rules the zodiacal 6th House so this is a place where you feel at home. It also represents other things we do or work on, various projects and some hobbies that we perform with our hands, such as carpentry. Work produces a product or result while career produces an image, if you get the idea. All that said, let's consider what that stellium may be doing to your House of work. (Another possibility is that it could be affecting your health. If you're having any vague symptoms, be sure to see your doctor, but he may have a difficult time diagnosing what's wrong.) As noted earlier, Jupiter retrograde frequently focuses on ethics. Neptune tends toward stark idealism on one hand and can also cause delusions or deceptions. Neptune and Jupiter in conjunction also relate to things like embezzlement. Chiron, the wounded healer, can bring injury or comfort. Consider that this trio probably had a large part in the swine flu pandemic scare a few months ago. Big delusions that cause disappointment or some other discomfort are a general possibility. Don't be too trusting and make decisions relative to your work based on facts that have been verified. If something sounds too good to be true it probably is. As if all that isn't enough to think about, Mars is squaring all three of them from Taurus, your 9th House of legal matters, higher learning, cultural interactions, beliefs and expectations, long-distance travel and relocation. No telling what that could stir up, especially in a target-rich area like the 9th House. Whatever he's up to, it's going to affect your work or health, but could also come to naught; all the deception and such could rub off on Mars as well, dousing all the energy with an influx of Neptunian fog. Remember the definition of work as something you're working on and if your projects also relate to a legal matter, going back to school, your beliefs, a trip abroad or transfer, again, you may be wasting your energy. All of this could bring an unexpected opportunity regarding a relationship, however, so keep your eyes open, pay attention to detail which of course comes easy for you anyway, and see where it goes. The New Moon/Solar Eclipse on July 21 is in Cancer, your 11th House of groups, organizations, friends, coworkers, and hopes and wishes. Uranus is trining the Sun/Moon pair from Pisces, your 7th House of relationships, implying something unexpected is on the way. Remember that in the 7th House context that "relationships" include not only our significant other but any close friend or relative, business associate, or person with whom you interact on a one-to-one basis. If you're in business for yourself it also includes your cliental. Pluto is in this game as well, quincunx the Sun/Moon from your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, and so forth. Adjustments or a Catch-22 are thus developing that involve your group interactions and your children, lovers, or recreational activities. If you've been spending a little too much time with one or the other, it looks as if balancing them out will be required soon. Mars in Gemini is sextile Mercury in Leo, implying that all that energy in your 10th House of career and reputation will find an opportunity that could be inspired. Venus is square Saturn, which could incline you to be a bit too critical of some of the people in your life or conversely, them of you. Another possibility is that advancing yourself is going to take more effort than you want to put forth. Short Term Aspects The first few days of July Venus and Mercury will be interacting with that stellium in your 6th House of work and health. Their placement indicates some interesting developments pertaining to your career or reputation, your work and perhaps an opportunity to advance your knowledge or perhaps relocate. Expect some surprises, some of which will contain an opportunity of some sort. On July 3 Mercury, your Sign Ruler, goes into Cancer, opening up communications and/or increasing the activity level with your coworkers, friends or group associations. On the 4th of July Mercury opposes Pluto, which suggests a tug-o-war between your friends or organizational ties and your children, romantic interests, or perhaps simply something you'd rather be doing for fun. Venus goes into Gemini on July 5, which is when you'll start having an advantage with your career or reputation in that others will see you in a more favorable light, unless you do something really foolish. On July 7 the Full Moon/Lunar Eclipse takes place, which is described above. On July 9, if you're willing to put forth a bit more effort with your coworkers or organizational ties an opportunity should come your way. On the 10th, something at work is going to come out but it may be a delusion so don't try to take it to the bank. Mars goes into Gemini on the 11th, bringing his drive and energy to your career and reputation; be aware that this energy could also be directed against you if you don't use it yourself. Between July 12 - 14 expect some news or information to come your way from your friends or associates that could also mean an opportunity that will be hard to miss. On the 14th expect a Catch-22 or change of plan due to a conflict between your career and recreational activities. Mercury will be messing with that stellium in your House of work and health between July 15 - 16. This could entail some news or information from a coworker about a project you're working on that will also require a change of plan. Mercury goes into Leo, your 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and dreams on the 17th. Note that this house can be very, very good or very, very creepy. Use it to tune into a higher plane to seek answers to some of the many questions out there. Between July 17 - 19 more light will come to that work project, which could be an exercise in futility. Nonetheless, you need to do what you have to do in the meantime. Some inspiration is likely on the 20th that could help you understand what's going on, or at least get a glimpse of what to expect. On July 21 the New Moon/Solar Eclipse occurs, as noted above. The Sun goes into Leo on July 22, bringing more light to things hidden, whether it's your spiritual life or some of those other 12th House things. With all that weird stuff going on at work maybe someone is trying to undermine you in some way. More adjustments to your time spent with your children, romantic interest, creative efforts or favorite entertainment is coming as well. July 27 - 28 you may find some interesting ties between your career aspirations and what you've been working on, along with another surprise or two. July 30 - 31 you could stumble upon some enlightenment that also affects that project in some way, perhaps hailing yet another change of plan. Nothing is 100% sure these days, so flexibility is a must or your stress level will rise accordingly. Venus goes into Cancer, your 11th House of groups and organizations on the 31st, which should bring some luck and happy associations in the days to come. This month and for a while to come things at work are going to be frustrating and possibly confusing. It's hard to know exactly what is going on or what you should be doing. This is because of that Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron stellium and there's not much you can do about it except not take it too seriously. Expect this to persist until at least the end of the year. Plans will also be written in the sand and require numerous adjustments and changes. Knowing how much Virgos like to plan and then stick with them, this will probably be annoying as well. Now is a good time to remember that Virgo is a Mutable Sign that is adept at adapting. Being a perfectionist you're going to witness a target-rich environment for criticism all around you in the coming months as people continually make false starts and various other faux-pas'. Try to keep the eye-rolling and head-shaking to a minimum. Feeling picked on? Find out why in a personalized transit report!
