Lunations and Long Term Aspects

This month's New Moon on the 13th occurs in fellow Earth Sign, Taurus, your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, other cultures, legal matters, travel to unfamiliar places, higher learning, relocation, politics and religion.  This is one of the houses where we learn about and interact with life.  If your birthday is within a day or so of September 16 this lunation will trine your Natal Sun and bring something favorable your way in this part of your life.

If your birthday is around the 21st you are currently experiencing a Saturn transit with Saturn retrograde grinding away on your Natal Sun.  Saturn transits can be about as much fun as a root canal, so if you've been feeling under the weather and rather bummed out, this will be at least part of the reason.  Saturn is all about discipline, responsibility and your obligations and when retrograde seeks to counsel you regarding something in your life that needs to be restructured.  This is rumbling around in your subconscious but will break the surface after he resumes direct motion, which gratefully will be the end of this month.  Saturn RX is also famous for instituting delays, which you've probably seen plenty of lately.  Saturn is a major player in this lunation, so this theme is going to echo throughout your life.

Saturn is trining the New Moon, so those of you with those birthdays around the 16th will be most affected.  The good news is that whatever comes into your life from the 9th House is going to have a favorable affect on that personal evolution in progress.  You are likely to experience something which may be no more than a major "Aha!" moment that is going to have an ongoing and important impact on how you see the world.  Watch for it, ponder it and integrate it.

Saturn is also opposing both Jupiter and Uranus in your polar sign, Pisces, your 7th House of close relationships.  These outer planet transits are in force for a sustained period of time, typically months, giving them plenty of time to soak into our psyches and effect change.  Oppositions typically introduce a tug-o-war of some description, implying a choice between two or more situations.  Pisces is a Water Sign which is strong on intuition and emotions whereas Virgo is an Earth Sign which is strong on practicality.  Thus, you can easily see how these could pull against one another, yet your life requires balance so if you've been neglecting this part of your life this will be a wakeup call.

Uranus is the planet of sudden change, disruptions, rebellion, and the unexpected while Jupiter expands what he touches while also having an influence on your beliefs and such as ruler of the Zodiacal 9th House.  Tying this all together without the astrologese, which probably either confuses or bores some of you, watch for an event or situation that is unexpected or disruptive to call your attention to one or more relationships.  This is likely to have an emotional and possibly enlightening effect and push you toward defining some new boundaries where your close relationships are concerned.  The 7th House includes your significant other, business partners, competitors, and those with whom you have a professional one-on-one relationship.

Saturn is also quincunx Neptune in your 6th House of work, health, service and pets.  These two planets are antithetical with Saturn about structure and Neptune about dissolving things and breaking them down.  A quincunx implies an adjustment or change of course, so these two could actually work together quite well if there is something that needs to change, especially with Saturn RX.  As a Mutable Sign you adapt to change reasonably well unless you have influences in your chart that make this difficult, such as numerous planets in Fixed Signs.  Assuming you're comfortable with making necessary changes without too much protest, see what's going on with your work that you need to adapt to in some way.

Note that Neptune can also bring illusions and delusions, so make sure you're seeing everything as it really is and determine if there's action you should take for your own best good.  In other words, and not mincing words, which I imagine you can appreciate, take a good, hard look at what's going on in your workplace.  The economy is pretty shaky these days and if you think that this applies to where you are, you might want to take action accordingly.  With that New Moon in the 9th House it could be time to consider going back to school, moving, or some other action to secure your employment.  Neptune is good for the imagination, so put that to work as well.  Remember that where planetary energy is concerned it's use it or it will use you.

Other planets involved with this lunation and thus providing its unique flavor include a square between Jupiter and Venus.  Jupiter as noted earlier expands things but also influences our beliefs and ethics.  Jupiter rules your 4th House of home environment, so it is likely to come into play somewhere as well.  Venus is in Gemini, your 10th House of career, reputation, status and public image.  Venus rules relationships as well as money, which implies the chance for a raise or favorable recognition, though something relative to a relationship, perhaps your boss, seems to be holding it back.  Thus, don't count your chickens before they're hatched if you're expecting something along those lines, because the powers that be and the current economic outlook may just keep that from happening.

Your Sign Ruler, Mercury, is also in Taurus, where he's trining Pluto who's in fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Mercury will be busily providing information in that 9th House department, which at the most basic level will be your beliefs and expectations about something.  He's in retrograde the first third of the month but direct once more at the time of the New Moon.  Pluto is retrograde and busily pursuing his Roto-rooter function where he is working at unearthing anything that requires attention.  Watch for information that is going to affect your creativity, children, romantic interests, etc. at a deep and lasting level that will result in a transformational effect; you'll have a deeper understanding of something in this area than previously.

The Full Moon on May 27th is in Sagittarius, your 4th House of home environment.  If your birthday is right around August 30 this lunation will square your Natal Sun, implying a challenge of some sort on the home front.  A female friend will deliver favorable news or information of some sort, so watch for that as well.  It's possible that someone who has been a friend could cross over into a romantic relationship, or you may simply gain some important insights into a past relationship of that sort.  Watch your back around this time at work since someone may try to undermine you whom you thought was a friend or at the least harmless.  Beware of deception and don't ignore anything that appears not to be in your favor as it could bite you later.  This situation has the potential to take you by surprise and is likely to affect your status or reputation in some manner as well.  Remember that a Full Moon typically brings something to an end or at least the culmination of a phase or stage as opposed to the New Moon which usually brings something entirely new into your life.  Those long-term effects described as part of the New Moon relative to restructuring one or more relationships and personal progression are still out there as well.

Daily and Short Term Aspects

May 2:  Something may slip away today at work that requires a change of direction or adjustment.

May 3:  News, information or original thoughts that affect your view of the world are possible, perhaps due to increased understanding of past events or something previously unknown or hidden.

May 4:  Watch your back, someone may try to undermine you, including yourself.  Something may come to light relative to a legal matter as well.  This is NOT a day to do anything that is not entirely above board because you are very likely to get busted.  Don't break the speed limit and so forth.

May 7:  Keep an eye out for inspiration regarding some action you can take to improve and/or enhance your reputation.

May 10:  Mercury, your Sign Ruler, goes direct, ending the most recent retrograde period which should help you to think more clearly and move forward with those things that have been stuck the past few weeks.

May 13:  New Moon in Taurus as described above.

May 17:  Guard your reputation today, both on a personal and professional level.  Your beliefs and expectations with regard to a relationship are likely to undergo some changes.

May 18:  If you have any personality traits that tend to get you into trouble, keep them in check today.  You are more prone than usual to be deceived, especially as it pertains to money or the opposite sex.  If you mess up you will be quickly reminded of any of those personal weaknesses.

May 19:  Another day to make sure you have all your facts straight and to not believe everything you hear or see.  You can get to the root of things if you're paying attention.  Something unexpected with regard to a relationship will come along today as well and could easily relate to those other situations as well.

May 20:  Venus goes into Cancer, your 11th House of friends and groups, which will help you find favor.  Expect the unexpected today as well.

May 21:  The Sun goes into Gemini, your 10th House of career, reputation, status and public image, bringing light to that part of your life.

May 22:  Expanding a relationship or your philosophy toward it may require some restructuring at the personal level.  Don't be too quick to blame others; look in the mirror first.

May 23:  Give some serious thought to female friends from your past and their affect on your ego.  Also any lessons from the past that you may have not quite absorbed yet.

May 25:  Expect to make a few adjustments today, perhaps to your ego, that affect how you're viewed in public.  Your children or a romantic interest may affect your reputation as well.

May 27:  Full Moon in Sagittarius as described above.

May 30:  Saturn goes direct after over four months of retrograde-induced delays.  However, the shadow period lasts until September 6 so true progress may not occur until then.
