Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month the New Moon on the 13th occurs in Taurus, your 8th House of transformations, shared resources, debt, sex, inheritances and death. For those of you with birthdays within a day or so of October 17, this lunation will quincunx your Natal Sun and thus spawn an adjustment or change of course that will have lasting effects. Saturn retrograde is by far the most active planet with the New Moon thus imbuing a theme of restructuring. Saturn is in your 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, dreams, confinement, seclusion, institutions, self-undoing and hidden enemies. The trine to the New Moon implies that rebuilding something in this somewhat hard to define part of your life will have lasting effects on you or perhaps vice versa, that an 8th House experience will trigger a new approach to something of a spiritual nature. Both the 8th and 12th Houses are more difficult to define than others. Both are ruled by Water Signs, i.e. Scorpio and Pisces, respectively, which implies that they're deeply emotional and need to be experienced, thus somewhat explaining why they're hard to put your finger on in a logical manner. Thus, the action this month from the New Moon may be on a plane other than the physical, comprising insights and experiences that have a lasting albeit intangible effect. Other aspects from Saturn include an opposition to both Jupiter and Uranus in Pisces, your 6th House of work, health, service and pets. The conjunction between these two implies numerous major disruptions or unexpected events at work, with your health or related to any volunteer service you may be involved with. Another effect may be the desire to break free or rebel entirely, perhaps due to some rumblings deep within yourself that are crying out for nourishment. If the daily grind is really getting you down, it could well be because you are not finding the needed satisfaction for your work. Perhaps the opportunities you'd like to pursue simply aren't there or have dried up in the current economic situation. As a logical Cardinal Air Sign you probably aren't overly prone to self-undoing as other signs may be, but nonetheless you need to maintain conscious awareness of that prior to making any spontaneous or ill-thought-out decisions that could bite you. If you're thinking about walking away from your job, albeit a boring or stressful one, perhaps seeking more satisfaction would be best pursued in volunteer work or enhancing your life in other areas. Saturn is also quincunx Neptune in fellow Air Sign, Aquarius, your 5th House of ego development, children, creativity, romance, entertainment and speculation. A quincunx, also known as an inconjunct, points toward the need for an adjustment or course change, sometimes due to a Catch-22. A compromise or need to defend your position are other possibilities. Neptune and Saturn are quite antithetical with the former about dissolving borders and fantasy and the latter about boundaries and reality. However, if you're in a position where you need to restructure something, being able to let go of old patterns and paradigms can be a good thing. Neptune's inspiration in your House of creativity is also quite beneficial. Look to that part of your life for enhancement and perhaps compensate for anything that feels like it's holding you back. Saturn in the 12th House can also give you a sense of confinement, which will definitely exacerbate that sense of rebellion on the job. Your Sign Ruler, Venus, is in Gemini, another fellow Air Sign and your 9th House of higher learning, legal matters, relocation, politics, religion, your beliefs and expectations, and travel to unfamiliar places. Venus is a benefic planet who will bless this area of your life, except for the New Moon she is squaring Jupiter over there in your House of work. This implies that in order to pursue what you may like as far as exploring your 9th House if concerned is not compatible with the desire to expand your work; they may be mutually exclusive. Or it's also possible that you'd planned to pursue something of interest to expand your horizons but things have ramped up at work such that you can't take the time off. Rest assured that this aspect is not one of the longer lasting ones, so it should be resolved fairly soon. Pluto is in fellow Cardinal Sign, Capricorn, your 4th House of home environment. This transit is going to last for several years, so don't expect it to end anytime soon. If your birthday is within a day or so of September 28 Pluto is squaring your Natal Sun, in which case you are probably feeling this influence in spades. Pluto, the zodiacal roto-rooter, is all about ridding yourself of those things that are no longer useful. In your 4th House of home environment this can pertain to people or simply cleaning out the garage or attic. Anything that has been buried or hidden that needs to be resolved is also a target. Pluto in the 4th can even predispose your home to problems with its hidden systems such as plumbing and electrical or even get so obnoxious as to invite invasions by unwanted guests such as cockroaches or ants, so keep the contact information for a reliable exterminator handy. For this New Moon Pluto is trining Mercury in Taurus, your 8th House of transformations, as mentioned earlier. Mercury rules communications and knowledge, so this harmonious connection with Pluto can be a good thing as far as opening up the channels needed to understand what is going on around you and what you need to do about it. Needless to say there is a lot to think about and ponder with this New Moon so be sure to find some time to do so and thus derive its full benefit. The Full Moon on May 27 is in Sagittarius, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and trips to familiar places. If your birthday is right around September 30 this should open up an opportunity for you to finish something up. Full Moons typically indicate an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase. The Saturn aspects with Neptune, Uranus and Jupiter are still in effect, but Uranus has moved into your polar sign, Aries by this time, putting the rebel planet on steroids. In other words, Uranus' energy tends to be very unpredictable as it is and combined with Aries' drive and impulsive energy, there's no telling where this could lead. This is your 7th House of relationships, so it's highly likely that something disruptive or unexpected will develop with someone close to you. Remember that relationships in the astrological context include your significant other, close friends or relatives with whom you interact on a regular basis, business partners, competitors, open enemies and professionals with whom you have a one-on-one relationships such as your accountant, financial advisor, hair stylist, attorney and so forth, so any of these individuals could be responsible. Other Full Moon aspects to note include a few from Pluto, who's making his presence known quite a bit more than for the New Moon. First of all, he's opposing your Sign Ruler, Venus, who's in Cancer, another Cardinal Sign who represents your 10th House of career, reputation, status and public image. This will set up a tug-o-war of some description between this part of your life and your home environment where as noted above Pluto is hard at work trying to get you to clean out the garage, at least figuratively. Venus in the 10th is usually a favorable transit where you are viewed in a very favorable way and may even get a promotion or raise. Just one example of how this opposition may play out could be that you get a promotion at work, but you and your significant other are very competitive and this causes trouble at home due to jealousy on the part of your partner. Or the promotion entails a transfer and leaving your home behind represents a serious obstacle, either due to moving your children or perhaps trying to unload your house is what is far from a favorable market in most parts of the country. Pluto is also quincunx the Sun in Gemini, your 9th House of higher learning and so forth. The Sun will be bringing emphasis to this area, which includes relocation, but the way, and Pluto is driving some adjustments or course changes in that regard. Maybe you're thinking of going back to school, which will cost a lot of money and require that you move to a smaller place. The possibilities are too profuse to even try to enumerate, but hopefully you get the idea. Pluto is also squaring Uranus over there in Aries, which should be interesting, as well. Watch for more surprises from someone close to you that is going to relate back to you home situation in one way or another and create a crisis. This aspect will be in effect until at least October, so this isn't likely to be something that can be resolved quickly. A good aspect to exploit is the sextile between Venus and Mercury. This should provide some guidance toward making the proper decisions that will benefit your career or status. Status astrologically is a very broad term that covers just about anything that involves a title or label, such as getting married or divorced; becoming a parent for the first time or your last child leaving home; starting a new business; getting a promotion or being fired; receiving a public honor or going to jail and so forth. Think of events that are part of the public record or might appear in the newspaper and you'll have a pretty good idea of what "status" means. So incorporate all those options into any of the possibilities for that information Mercury can provide which will more than likely have transformational overtones. Short-term and Daily Aspects May 2: Some inspired and creative ideas could start you on a different course that leads to greater spirituality. Don't be afraid to leave old ideas behind. May 3: Ridding yourself of old, worn-out paradigms, particularly those that relate to your home, could represent a significant, even life-changing experience today. News that has this affect is also possible, even something like an inheritance. May 4: Seeing something more clearly than you did in the past could conflict with previous goals. Your friends or other groups may not agree as well and may try to push you in a different direction. May 7: This is a favorable day for conversations with the opposite sex. It's also favorable for developing your newly developed ideas and turning them into goals. This could also involve with a new group of some sort. May 10: Mercury goes direct, allowing electronic and mechanical devices to function properly again as compared to the last few weeks. May 13: New Moon today as described above. May 17: Your beliefs or something you'd like to pursue may conflict with something that arises in the workplace or with any volunteer service you provide. It could be an ethics issue, relate to money or simply be an increase in your workload that precludes any other pursuits for now. However, this will also provide a trigger for you to see things slightly differently than in the past. May 18: If there's a conflict between your religious or political beliefs and your spiritual values, it's likely to come out today and cause some deep considerations. You're good at balancing information and being objective, which will serve your well. Don't forget to listen to your heart as well. Creative inspiration or daydreaming will help sort things out and formulate a new philosophy of life, which will have a transformation effect and help you know what you need to restructure to support your spiritual life. May 19: A challenge of some sort is likely today and may threaten what you thought you knew. Look beneath the surface in your home environment, past and present, for unresolved issues that may be holding you back. Something unexpected with your occupation or health may interfere with something you'd hoped to pursue. May 20: Venus goes into Cancer, your house of career, status and reputation, bringing her blessings to this part of your life. This is a favorable time to present yourself in public. Watch for opportunities in the workplace or as a volunteer to make a major change. May 21: The Sun goes into Gemini, bringing light and focus to your beliefs, expectations, higher learning, travel to unfamiliar places, relocation and so forth. May 22: A conflict between something at work or in a volunteer venue and going after your dreams is likely. Don't give up, it just might not be the right dream. May 23: Advancing your status or career may be hung up on some old issues or unfinished business at home or with your childhood. Figure out what's holding you back. May 25: New understanding of your new beliefs will effect a change of direction from what you've believed for a long time. May 27: Full Moon in Sagittarius as described above. May 28: Uranus enters Aries, bringing the potential for rapid change and surprises in one or more of your relationships. May 30: Saturn goes direct after more than four months of retrograde motion. Those things that have been largely hidden and beneath the surface will start to become visible and provide more information regarding some restructuring that needs to be done, perhaps involving new boundaries. This work will continue until early September when you'll be able to make more serious progress. |
