Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The Full Moon this month on the 4th falls in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings, and short journeys.  A Full Moon typically indicates closure or a change of phase, so this implies a shifting in how you think about something or perhaps relate to your neighbors or siblings or possibly simply the culmination of a short trip.  The meaning of this lunation for you is most likely to lie within its aspects, which provide its personality, so to speak. 

The most obvious is a Yod, also known as a Finger of God, which connects Mars, Mercury and Neptune at the eye, with a side-glance from the asteroid, Chiron.  That Mars - Mercury sextile spanning your 6th and 8th Houses, respectively, denotes the opportunity for obtaining some ideas or other information related to your work, service, or health that will have a transformational effect on you.  The "work" included in the 6th House includes your day job as well as any other activities you pursue where you are productive and thus accomplishing something.  Thus, this could be a project around the House as easily as in the work place.  I've also come to the conclusion that the 6th House comprises how we spend our time and perhaps even time itself.  The 8th House includes not only transformations but such things as sex, death, debt, and shared resources.  Heavy stuff, that 8th House, which on the zodiacal level is housed by Scorpio and ruled by Pluto.  This sextile, therefore, could even represent getting news that startles you in some way and thus motivates you to work harder than before.  For example, you hear that lay-offs are coming so you make sure you increase your productivity so as to not paint a target on yourself for that grim reaper in your company's business office.

The eye of this Yod is centered on Neptune, who's parked in your Sign.  If your birthday is within a day or so of February 12, then he is conjunct your Natal Sun, making this aspect even more powerful for you.  Neptune rules your next-door neighbor, Pisces, and covers all sorts of woo-woo territory as you would expect from the 12th House.  This includes such things as illusions, delusions, inspiration, dreams, deception, enlightenment and transcendence.  As you can see, there is good and not-so-good in there with none of it necessarily within the realms of reality.  Thus, if you're one of those birthday boys or girls noted earlier, your sense of reality is probably a bit skewed these days.  You need to be aware that you are viewing things with either blinders or rose-colored glasses and turn up the gain on your Air Sign ability to employ logic so as to dispel any deception that could ultimately trip you up.  Consider carefully if you may be in denial or refusing to see things as they really are.  As the wounded healer, Chiron could obviously cause you some disappointment or other injury if you were to persist in this direction.

Mars and Mercury are tied into Neptune via quincunxes which call for a change of direction, adjustment or sometime indicate a Catch-22 situation.  This change could go either way, depending on the situation.  In some cases, maybe it's not reality but Neptune's inspiration that you need to determine where you need to go with respect to your job, health or perhaps even service of some description.  Thus take any information that surfaces with respect to work and figure out which way Neptune is trying to steer you.

Your Sign Ruler, Uranus, is putting in his two cents worth for this lunation as well.  Uranus is the planet of sudden change, rebellion, unexpected events and innovation and he has been hanging out in your 2nd House of finances, possessions, pleasures, needs and values for quite a while.  He's also interacting with Mars and Mercury, but in a different way.  In this case he's part of an aspect pattern known as a Triangle of Potential where he's opposing Mercury but trining Mars.  This implies that whatever news or information you may have received that could motivate that transformational change or other 8th House element will be getting some resistance.  This could be coming from your wallet or perhaps your own priorities or needs.  Disruptions to this part of your life will certainly be unwelcome.  However, that trine to Mars indicates it could have a positive effect on your drive and motivation at work as well.  Returning to that lay-off threat as an example, clearly the financial shock would also be a motivator to work harder, or perhaps even start looking for another job, which would be enhanced by that trine.  In fact, Mars is the key to managing this Triangle of Potential since he's in positive aspect with both Uranus and Mercury.  What you decide to do about it all is what will determine the outcome.

There's another Triangle of Potential that comprises Saturn and the lunar nodes, which are where the Moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic plane.  Saturn is opposing Uranus, by the way, which will put up a bit of a fight with regard to any abrupt changes.  The North Node indicates where you're going or something coming into your life whereas the South Node indicates the opposite, i.e. where you're coming from or something going out of our life.  Saturn is in charge this time, which makes perfect sense since he rules your work ethic, your ability to discipline yourself, how you handle your obligations, and relate to authority.  He's also the usual tutor for hard lessons if you don't quite get what your responsibilities entail and in your 8th House this could definitely be uncomfortable.  In this position it's easy to see how he's controlling where you're going in your life.  If you're being responsible and working hard, he will help you dig your way out of that hole you're probably in and if you're not, well, then the hard lessons will motivate you accordingly.  The North Node is in your 12th House which indicates a new direction for your spiritual values, sense of enlightenment, or perhaps even your dreams.

Saturn is squaring Pluto, also in your 12th House, which will dig up whatever it might be that is holding you back from this part of your life.  The 12th House is not only where your dreams reside but also where hidden enemies lurk and also self-undoing.  If you have anything like that going on then Pluto will help expose it such that you can eradicate it and remove any obstacles further hindering your progress.  Thus, this doesn't exactly sound like a cake walk, but it also has the tone of moving in the right direction.  Considering that a Full Moon is a culmination, then these are influences that will help you move to the next phase.  So let's take a look and see what the New Moon has in store.

The New Moon on October 18th is in Libra, your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, relocation, long-distance travel, religion and politics.  Something new in one of those areas certainly holds a plethora of possibilities.  That ongoing opposition between Uranus and Saturn, which is basically a cosmic argument between structure and chaos, is in another Triangle of Potential with the North Node.  Thus, something new coming into your life will determine how to balance stability and change.  This time Mars is quincunx Pluto and these two bad boys are in your 7th and 12th Houses.  Mars in your 7th House of relationships is going to liven things up considerably.  This is a positive time to partner with someone in pursuit of a common goal.  Remember that relationships in an astrological sense include close friends and relatives, significant others, business partners, open enemies and if you're in business for yourself, cliental.  However, if you don't use that energy yourself in a positive way, you could also find yourself the target of aggression by these same people.  That energy is going to manifest and if you don't use it in your own behalf, someone is likely to use it against you. 

As noted above, Pluto is in your 12th House where he's snooping around in the attic, garage, basement and closets looking for things that need to be thrown out.  There's a better way to use some of that space and he's trying to help you find it.  The needed adjustments could easily come from someone close to you, making it a good time to do more listening than talking.  That Saturn - Pluto square described earlier for the Full Moon is still in effect which will further help figure out what remodeling needs to be done in this part of your life.  On the positive side, Venus is also squaring Pluto from your 9th House, which should bring good fortune to that area and thus help you put the pieces together of this particular puzzle.  For example, if you've been thinking of going back to school, this could provide what you need to make that reality.  She may do no more than provide a positive shift in your beliefs and expectations and therefore your attitude, but she will definitely be doing her best to keep Pluto in line so he can't cause you too much grief.  Remember that the New Moon is also in the 9th heralding something new in this part of your life.

The Sun/Moon conjunction, a.k.a. New Moon, is throwing a nice trine to Neptune as well.  This could provide the inspiration or enlightenment you need to be able to go after whatever it is in the 9th that you need to pursue.  They're also trining Chiron, which I don't entirely trust though hopefully in this case the harmonious trine indicates a new dawn from past disappointments or things that have hurt you or held you back.  And that ought to give you plenty to think about for the New Moon.

Short-term Aspects

October 1:  Watch for that news related to work that will jump-start this month's action.  It could also be news related to a debt that gets you thinking of ways you could earn some extra money.

October 4:  Full Moon today as described above.

October 8 - 9:  Transformational ideas that relate to your responsibilities, how you can incorporate more discipline into your life to meet your obligations, or coming face to face with an authority figure of some sort will get your attention.  Something unexpected that affects your finances is likely as well, but you'll find a way to work it out.  A few course changes will be required, but look for some inspiration to show the way.  Mercury goes into Libra today, bringing ideas and news related to your beliefs, going back to school, relocating, or perhaps simply your political or religious opinions.

October 10:  Luck is out there today as it relates to what you're pursuing but you're going to have to make it happen as opposed to having it handed to you.  Those ideas may hit a wall of resistance from your past, such as a lack of self-confidence or something else lurking there that you think will hold you back.  It only will if you let it.

October 12 - 13:  The drive to work hard to attain your goals awaits.  Use your natural optimism to convince yourself that not only will all that hard work be worth it, but you'll enjoy it as well. 

October 14 - 15:  Venus goes into Libra on the 14th, bringing her blessing to your beliefs and expectations along with any luck toward what you're pursuing.  Again she is trying to defend you against ghosts from the past who are trying to hold you back. 

October 16:  Mars goes into Leo, bringing his energy and drive to your relationships.  Use this in a positive way.  If others seem to be attacking you, you've dropped the ball.  Adjustments to your finances or possibly your personal values will be highlighted as they pertain to whatever you're trying to attain.  There are times when sacrifice is definitely worth it.  Figure out if this is one of them.  Inspiration once more awaits.  Are you listening?

October 20:  Big news or ideas today.  If it requires follow-up, do it.  Windows of opportunity do close so don't delay.

October 23 - 24:  The Sun goes into Scorpio today, bringing his light to your 10th House of career, reputation and status.  If those ghosts from the past are bothering you again, the means are there to dismiss them.  Unexpected news related to your finances or possessions will require some adjustments or maybe a course change.  Inspiration is still there for you, so listen up.

October 28:  Mercury goes into Scorpio, bringing news and information related to your career, reputation or status.  Believe in yourself and in your ability to achieve whatever you set your mind to.  Know one knows what you can do better than you.  Opportunities to dispel some of those self-doubts or other baggage holding you back are there.

October 29:  Saturn goes into Libra, bringing his discipline, perseverance, and hard work to bear on your beliefs and where you want to go as it relates to that 9th House, e.g. school, relocating, or simply your expectations.  Confrontations with someone at work, perhaps your boss, could be a bit tense.  Be assertive but not aggressive for best results.  Be sure you know the difference.
