One of the themes this month that will be in effect for the entire month of May involves your work and career. These are not necessarily the same and are represented by two different astrological Houses. We've all known or at least heard of the "starving artist" who's working at McDonald's and practicing various inflections on the words, "Do you want fries with that?" as they await their big break either on Broadway or in Hollywood. In this case, their day job would be their work, which is 6th House fare, whereas their acting aspiration would be their 10th House. These may seem like a dichotomy to some, somewhat the way that religion (9th House) and spirituality (12th House) are also separated, but in reality these make perfect sense. Like they say, going to church doesn't make you a Christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. But I digress.

The good news for Aries is that this month there are forces in work to help you bring these two together. Your ability to unearth hidden facts and discern just about anything in the workplace, from power trips to dirty little secrets, are greatly enhanced. On a more personal level, these will also assist you in determining exactly what it is you'd like to be when you grow up. If you have any dirty little secrets of your own, you may be forced to deal with them, but these will also pave the way toward healing, which will allow you to move forward with less baggage that you've hauled around in the past. In addition, your attention to detail in the workplace, which may not be something you're usually into, will come more easily and help you put things in order. You'll be able to do such things as identify process problems, determine if something is put together properly, whether all the T's are crossed and I's dotted, and so forth. In other words, no matter what your day job happens to be, you'll be more organized and serious about doing it properly. This is likely to receive notice.

Thus, if your career aspirations are simply a step up from where you already are, your chances of making progress toward that end are enhanced. Even the New Moon is in your favor, which occurs May 5th in Taurus, your Natural 2nd House of possessions, and also includes your finances. This implies some changes in that area. Financial considerations are likely to be in the forefront during the first week of May and part of that job-career consideration as well.

Additional help to guide you toward what career best fits your dreams and spiritual nature is also out there this month. Maybe you've outgrown your dreams such that they no longer work for you. Just like your favorite pair of old shoes that finally got broken-in to the point that they're comfortable and familiar will eventually wear out and need to be discarded, so could you also progress beyond previous dreams that are no longer relevant to your life. Once you identify what is calling to you in that area and any changes that need to be made, you'll have a better idea of what those career goals need to be. So, being more on top of things at work, seeing how that fits into where you ultimately want to go career-wise and discovering what your updated dreams and spiritual values have become will be running in the background all month. Turn off your mental pop-up blocker and pay attention to these random thoughts as they surface as the pieces will fit together quite nicely at some point. It wouldn't even hurt to write them down as it may take months for them all to come together.

This is not to say that you'll find all the answers. There's a good chance that will take several months, but more than likely you'll gather together a few facts that will ultimately help you solve that puzzle. Sometimes the realization that your day job really doesn't do it for you anymore is a big "Aha!" moment. Sometimes we tend to accept the status quo as the way things are for a long time, then one day we wake up to discover that maybe the reason we put away a six pack of beer every night is to help us forget that we've spent the better part of the day doing something we consider to be worthless. Aries like attention and to be the hero (or heroine) and if you don't get a chance to do this on a regular basis, a part of you is being malnourished. Pay close attention to what particular symptoms you may have that indicate you're really not happy, then start moving in the direction that will rectify the situation.

The two things that usually affect our lives the most are our job and homelife. Events on the homefront have probably been stirred up in one way or another the past few months as Mars, your sign ruler, has moved through your 4th House of home environment. The good news is that he moves into Leo on May 9th. Just prior to that date expect to give your situation at home a final once-over. If there's been a conflict between your homelife and what you want to achieve with your career, that will be in front of you in living color. You may have to defend your hopes and wishes, particularly if family members don't support you in where you want to go with your life. Once Mars moves into Leo, you may well roar like a lion and insist on pursuing your chosen path and let the chips fall where they may. This is not necessarily a bad thing. An unhappy Aries seldom does anyone any favors, so maybe it's time to get it all out there on the table and deal with it.

The second week of May expect ideas relative to making some changes to start flowing into your conscious mind. Opportunities may arise as well, likewise inspiration regarding those spiritual issues. Between May 16 - 23 thoughts will be rumbling around in your subconscious that will help you expand your ambitions and fit your dreams to your financial goals. However, make sure that you screen any information carefully and beware of wishful thinking, which could set you up for being duped. At the same time, don't ignore these pipe dreams completely, either, or you might let something important slip away and dissolve before your eyes. Beware of "group think" as well. Just because a particular course of action might not work for others doesn't mean it won't work for you. Everyone's reality is different, so make your own decisions. Look upon this as similar to visiting an oracle who speaks in a language you may not understand and are thus forced to decipher the symbolism in order to discern its meaning. If you interpret something incorrectly it could be a bad thing, but if you grasp it correctly it could be what you've been looking for. The Full Moon on May 19th in Scorpio, your 8th House of transformations, could yield further assistance by bringing closure to some roadblock that has been keeping you from achieving your dreams.

If enough thoughts surface in your conscious mind that you start devising a plan, make sure you pay adequate attention to detail. Failure to do so could bite you later. Also be aware that Mercury goes retrograde on May 26 and will be in that state until June 19. This is usually a time when communications of all kinds are messed up and with Mercury in Gemini, one of his home signs, this will be even stronger. The good news is that this is a favorable time to be rethinking issues or redoing anything of a mental nature that wasn't quite right. Use it to ruminate on where you think you want to go. Aries tend to be impulsive and this is an opportunity to make sure you think things through thoroughly and carefully such that everything will fall into place later.

In summary, this month should be loaded with mental action. This is not to say that nothing of significance will happen, but more so that it's a time to do some serious thinking and planning about your life, particularly where you are versus where you want to be. The universe is lending you a helping hand at being less impulsive and more methodical in your thinking and planning which may be of great assistance to you in demonstrating that the way to get where you want to go isn't always via the tactic best embodied by the quote, "Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!"
