Lunations and Long Term Aspects

The Full Moon this month on August 5 is another lunar eclipse which will further reinforce the effects of the ones in July since it's a member of the same Saros family, 11-South.  As you may recall, the general flavor of this series is sudden reforms, finding innovative solutions for existing problems, and potentially the sudden and even forceful removal of obstacles.  This one occurs in your 2nd House of finances, possessions, values, needs, and pleasures.  As with the others, it has its own unique aspects which will further color its influence.  Remember that on occasion the effects of an eclipse can be seen even before it occurs and conversely they can show up months later; often they're most easily seen in retrospect since they tend to set events in motion that will take a while to mature into the results you see.

An aspect pattern known as a Triangle of Potential (ToP) is associated with this eclipse and comprises Venus, Pluto, and Mercury at the apex, which will provide the leverage to control the opposition between the other two.  Venus is in your 7th House of relationships and Pluto is in your 1st House of personality, a fact of which you are probably already and possibly painfully aware.  This opposition will be one of discovering deeply rooted things within yourself through your relationship of caring with someone close to you.  The 7th House comprises those people with whom we relate on a one-on-one basis and includes close friends and relatives, business partners, our significant other, and if you're in business for yourself, your cliental.  There is no greater way to get to know ourselves that through others, either by observing their behavior or by them providing feedback regarding our own.  Venus in your 7th House is a very nice placement that should bring good things to this part of your life this month.  Of course Venus is typically a nice visitor wherever she happens to be, but she does rule the zodiacal 7th House so is especially at home there.  This should not be a painful opposition except for anything that's been buried or ignored that requires attention, which Pluto will exhume.

Mercury, who rules communications, will get into the act from your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, relocation, other cultures, and long-distance travel.  This will further enhance those deep conversations with those close to you regarding your deepest beliefs, their origin, and anything else that resides in the 9th that bears discussion.  If any of those other elements such as going back to school, relocating, a legal matter, or taking a trip abroad have relevance in any of your relationships, now is an outstanding time to address it.  Better yet, these influences being part of an eclipse give you plenty of time to do so.

Another aspect associated with this lunation involves Mars trining the Moon.  A trine is a harmonious aspect and Mars is in your 6th House of work, health and pets.  If you have some things you need to get done either on the job or around the house, Mars will give you plenty of drive and energy to "git 'r' dun."  This trine to the Moon will give you emotional energy and commitment to it as well, another useful influence.  Mars is also squaring your Sign Ruler, Saturn, however, which involves a hard aspect and two planets that are generally known as "bad boys."  Saturn is in your 9th House, which was described earlier.  Saturn is about hard lessons, delays, restrictions, obligations, responsibilities and boundaries.  This, of course, implies that maybe you won't be able to accomplish nearly as much as you'd like, in spite of your commitment to do so.  Saturn is like driving with the brakes on and if you fight against it you will burn yourself out.  So bear this in mind, pace yourself accordingly, and don't expect too much.  Believe me, as a fellow Cappy I don't like this at all, but there's not much we can do about it other than try to balance that energy with something positive.  About all you can counter Saturn's drag with is acceptance of the load, perseverance, and the optimism that in due time you'll accomplish your goal.  Someday I'll learn this, but still find myself no fan of this ringed giant of misery.

That persistent stellium that comprises Jupiter, Neptune and the asteroid, Chiron, is also still there, all of them are retrograde, and they are camped out in your 2nd House of finances and possessions, which, as you recall, is where the eclipse will occur.  I am still sorting out the various ways in which this trio has been operating.  Jupiter is usually considered benefic since he can bring us luck by expanding what he touches, but in this case I'm not so sure since what he might be expanding upon isn't necessarily good.  Neptune tends to dissolve what he touches and I'm sure most of you can attest to the fact that our finances have truly been evaporating.  He's also about inspiration, but conversely illusions.  It's hard to tell what's real with Neptune because most of it isn't.  It may be good, but still unreal.  Think of it as a movie being projected on the screen that, no matter how pleasant it may appear or good it may make you feel, it is nothing more than an illusion.  If you feel inspired as far as your finances or investments are concerned, just make sure they're founded in today's economic reality, which is certainly less than enchanting.

The most suspicious character in this trio as far as I'm concerned, however, is Chiron.  In your Natal Chart Chiron depicts the part of your life where you'll encounter injury or hurt that will never entirely heal with the charge to take your experience, no matter how painful, and use it to assist others similarly afflicted.  Thus, Chiron can be about being hurt or it can be about healing and helping others.  As if we don't already have enough challenges in this day and age, this does not look very friendly.  However, we can't do anything about this any more than we can Saturn, so we just need to deal with it the best we can.  The most positive manifestation is to help others so considering that Cappies are usually quite practical and structured in their financial dealings, perhaps you can help others navigate through these chill economic waters.

Remember the theme of these eclipses is one of reform and removal of obstacles.  Take a deep, cleansing breath, look at all angles of a situation closely, then think outside the box to find solutions you never considered before.  Avoid that native Cappy "gloom and doom" as much as possible, hard though it may be.  One more aspect of note with this eclipse is the fact that the North Node of the Moon is crossing over your 2nd House cusp, implying that something is coming into you life in the financial area.  Conversely, the South Node is crossing your 8th House cusp, which is your House of other people's money and debt.  Both of these sound pretty good, so keep your eyes open and fingers crossed.

The New Moon on August 20 occurs in Leo, your 8th House of sex, death, transformation, debt and other people's resources.  With this lunation the lunar nodes are placed the same as for the eclipse, indicating something is coming into your house of finance and going out of your house of debt.  This may be no more than paying off a credit card, but it's implications are positive.  There are a plethora of other aspects associated with this New Moon, a phase which typically means something new is coming into your life.  If your birthday is within a few days of January 18 you will be affected more since the Sun/Moon conjunction, i.e. the definition of a New Moon, will be quincunx your Natal Sun, an aspect that indicates a change of course or adjustment and is very predominant in this lunation, anyway.  There are three Triangles of Potential (ToPs), a T-Square, and a double yod as well as that ongoing stellium noted earlier, implying this to be a significant event.

First of all, the New Moon itself is opposite that Jupiter/Neptune/Chiron stellium delineated above for the Full Moon/Eclipse.  The stellium has the same meaning and being opposite the New Moon indicates a tug-o-war between something new in your 8th House versus how that stellium is affecting your current finances.  Maybe you need to make a difficult decision in this part of your life, though it appears that you will be able to shed some debt.  The 8th House is also the house of transformations, so you may simply have an experience that entirely changes you in some way, perhaps by helping someone else.

Two of the ToPs include the New Moon.  The first one comprises the New Moon, that now-famous stellium, and Mars.  I've already covered the opposition part of it above, so now let's throw Mars into the mix as the potential mediator.  Mars is in Gemini, your 6th House of work, health and pets.  Potentially you could encounter some health issues this month; if you're experiencing any symptoms you don't understand, then it's advisable to go to the doctor and have them checked out.  I don't want to scare anyone, but the potential for health implications from this aspect is pretty strong.  Assuming you're in good health, the other possibility is back to that gift from Mars of drive and energy to get something done, either on the job or around the house.  It's encouraging to note that Mars is in positive aspect to both the New Moon and the stellium, so a good outcome is implied.  Put some work into whatever you want to accomplish and you should like the result.

The second ToP involves the New Moon, Pluto and Mars.  Those two are typically in the "bad boy" set, but we've already seen how Mars could be our friend.  However, in this case he's opposite Pluto, which implies you may be resisting whatever this work may be due to some unresolved issue from your past.  Pluto is about how we perceive and use power and if your birthday is on or within a day of December 22 he is sitting on your Natal Sun and evoking some sort of personal transformation, which Mars will be opposing.  Look for this tug-o-war in your life and you're bound to identify it.  However, for this one the mediating factor is the New Moon, its transformational potential, which will be in cahoots with Pluto, and opportunities resulting from all those efforts relative to your work.  It sounds rough, but the outcome looks positive so hang in there.

The third ToP comprises Saturn, Mercury, Uranus and Venus.  Saturn and Mercury are both in Virgo, your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, higher learning and so forth as described above.  These two planets are working on bringing new information your way in this part of your life and restructuring your approach to it.  Uranus, the planet of sudden change, unexpected events, rebellion, innovation, and surprises, is in your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys.  This will make it easier for you to think outside the box so in this location isn't necessarily a bad thing; in fact this could be quite helpful in implementing those reforms called for by the eclipses the past month or so.  Since he's opposite Saturn and Mercury, he will be nagging on those two to look at things differently, especially stuffy ol' Saturn who is antithetical to Uranus in a variety of ways.  This could definitely result in some inner rumblings for Cappies who are conservative by nature but may be finding that their existing mindset isn't working too well.  Venus is the mediator in this ToP, and as previously noted she's in your 7th House of relationships.  This implies that someone close to you can help you navigate this particular issue by providing either a sounding board or new approaches or ideas that will be helpful.  ToPs include a challenge but a means to resolve it so at least they don't leave you out there hanging without anywhere to turn.

The T-Square involves Saturn, Mercury, Uranus and Mars.  By now you've probably noticed that these planets are all involved in multiple aspects, making them very active.  This is going to be anything but a dull month.  T-Squares aren't as friendly as ToPs and this one further illustrates your resistance to change with whatever you're trying to accomplish in the work department caught in the middle.  Looking to the positive potential of the various ToPs with their mediating factors should help resolve this one as well.

The double yod as you would expect involves the same basic themes.  You've probably already noticed that every single planet has been up to something significant this month and is interacting with his peers; this could bring a lot of confusion, so don't be surprised if you feel bombarded.  A yod is also known as a Finger of God since it points us in a certain direction contingent on changing our course or adjusting something, often our attitude.  The eye is on that Neptune/Jupiter/Chiron stellium, which is why I call it a double (actually a triple) yod, making it the focus of these adjustments.  I would certainly like to think that this trio does NOT mean financial ruin if that is where this yod is going!  Interestingly the yod's base comprises Venus, who's assisting us in our relationships, and that Saturn/Mercury pair in your house of beliefs and expectations.  This all implies that someone close to us will help us redefine our beliefs, achieve a change of direction, and thus deal with those financial issues lurking out there like sharks in deep water.

This ought to give you plenty to think about.  Bon chance; we're going to need it.

Short Term Aspects

August 1 - 3:  Someone close to you is going to stir up some soul-searching.  Don't let your defenses keep you from learning something important about yourself.  Clinging to old beliefs and paradigms can be self-defeating.

August 5:  The Full Moon/lunar eclipse occurs today as described above.

August 7 - 10:  Keep talking with those close to you with an open mind and you'll discover an opportunity of some description, even if it's only to see things from a different knothole.  Your drive to get something done may be hindered by clinging to old ways; reassess your methods with an open mind.

August 13 - 14:  All that hard work could result in something good on the financial side.  Don't be afraid to market your wares.  Measure the pros and cons of any ventures carefully.

August 17:  Today the planets are positioning themselves preparatory to that New Moon coming up.  Be open to opportunities related to your work, whether on the job or at home.  Information pertaining to your beliefs, right, wrong or indifferent, will be profuse today; be as objective as possible.  If you've been delusional or unrealistic, you should see things clearly now, but take off your blinders and maintain an open mind.  Look at who's thriving these days and consider why.  It's time to adjust your thinking based on your current beliefs and perhaps your goals.  Some inspiration pertaining to something you could do to generate more income is possible today as well.  Just make sure it's realistic before throwing any money on the table.

August 18:  A new, innovative thought or idea may have a transformational effect on you today.  Don't be afraid to look at things differently than you have before.  Maybe all your hard work has been misdirected.  Better to find out now than expend more energy in the wrong direction.

August 19:  Listen carefully to what someone close to you has to say today, especially with respect to your finances.  Their advise has an opportunity in there, but you're going to have to make a few adjustments or course changes to get there.

August 20:  New Moon today as described above.

August 21 - 23:  Keep thinking outside the box and ditch your fears.  The Sun goes into Virgo, your 9th House of beliefs on the 22nd, helping you see things more clearly.  Keep soliciting input from your trusted friends and associates.  You have some changing to do regarding how you see the world but the result will be positive.  Maybe it's time to ditch any gloom and doom you've been toting around.

August 25 - 26:  Mercury goes into Libra, your 10th House of career, reputation and status, stimulating information in this regard on the 25th and Mars goes into Cancer, your 7th House of relationships, which could introduce some conflict.  On the 26th Venus goes into Leo, your 8th House of transformations, sex, death, debt, and other people's resources.  This should have a positive effect on this part of your life and implies any changes you're in the process of making are positive.  However, she is no longer enhancing those relationships and Mars has taken her place, so all those nice, cozy and friendly conversations are going to shift to being more argumentative.  You may feel as if you're under attack or conversely be more assertive or even aggressive yourself.  Be aware and maintain your cool.

August 27:  Personal transformations are favored today due to your willingness to shift directions.

August 28:  News or information pertaining to your career aspirations, reputation or status will have a favorable effect on you at a deep and transformational level.  It could also bring good news regarding a loan or shared investment.
