Lunations and Long Term Aspects This month the Full Moon occurs on October 4th in your 4th House of home environment. If your birthday is within a day or so of January 1st the opposing Sun and Moon will create a T-square with your Natal Sun, which is bound to show up in your life in some way, most likely related to your home and career/reputation. It will undoubtedly be felt in these areas by most Cappies but not as dramatically as those who experience the direct Natal Chart hit. The aspects that accompany this Full Moon further define its character and what you can expect. Most noticeable is a Yod, also known as a Finger of God, that comprises Mars, Mercury, and Neptune with the asteroid, Chiron, edging in as well. Mars and Mercury are at the base of this aspect pattern and occupying your 7th House of relationships and 9th House of beliefs and expectations, respectively. Mars in the 7th will liven things up with respect to close friends and relatives, your significant other, as well as business partners and, if relevant, cliental. It can also cause some confrontations, but the energy won't necessarily be negative, even though you should note that the 7th also includes open enemies. Mercury in the 9th, a House that largely comprises the mental plane, will stimulate thoughts, ideas and movement in that venue which comprise higher learning, legal matters, relocation, long-distance travel, religion and politics as well as your core beliefs and expectations. The sextile link between these planets and houses will provide energy for some interesting and lively discussions that relate to these areas. The eye of this yod, which is primarily Neptune with some side glances from Chiron, is in your 2nd House of finances, possessions, pleasures, values and self-worth. Neptune can bring considerable peace and inspiration but you need to exercise a certain degree of caution because illusions and delusions are possible as well. Neptune tends to dissolve what he touches which you have probably witnessed in your latest stock and 401k statements. Clearly Chiron has been contributing some of his wounding effects in that part of your life as well. If you put all this together, considering that Mars and Mercury connect with Neptune/Chiron via a quincunx, which represents a Catch-22, adjustment or change of course, you can see that it's time to have some philosophical discussions about money matters with those close to you with a sprinkling of those 9th House issues thrown in to make it more interesting. Note that Mercury has a fair amount of company in the 9th that will have an influence as well. This includes Venus, who usually has a favorable effect, and Saturn, whom you can think of as a stern father or authority figure. Not to be left out, these planets are making aspects as well. Venus is forming a quincunx with Jupiter in the 9th, creating another situation that needs to be tweaked in some manner that probably comprises a positive change, given the benefic nature of these two planets. Venus rules relationships and our material possessions including money so her presence in the 9th will be upon your beliefs and expectations toward this part of your life. Jupiter tends to expand what he touches so his residence in your 2nd House of finances and possession is fairly positive as well. Thus, look for how to make a few adjustments to your beliefs about your resources and how they can result in a beneficial increase to your finances. This could even relate to returning to school, relocating, or some other 9th House issue. Saturn is a rather stuffy planet who is not only Cappy's Sign Ruler but tutors you in those hard lessons of life. His presence in the 9th will be stirring up a few of those, no doubt, but there is cause for optimism in that he's also forming a Triangle of Potential with the lunar nodes, which tend to be active when you make a major life change where something new is coming into your life. The North Node is grinding away on those of you with birthdays on or within a day or so of January 18, so if that's you, then expect something to come your way. Saturn is in the driver's seat of this aspect, putting him in control which is largely confined to those 9th House issues. Thus, your job is to figure out what exactly it is that you're supposed to do there that will take you in a new direction. All Cappies need to look at this, but it may not be as dramatic as those of you born around January 18th. Saturn is also squaring Pluto, however, which is a less-friendly connection. In fact, this hard aspect between these two bad boys could easily be considered the astrological antithesis of that friendly connection between Venus and Jupiter. Pluto is also in Capricorn and probably doing a number on those of you born right around December 22. Cappies born several days or weeks away from then can relax for a while, but Pluto's sheer presence in your 1st House is going to be felt to some degree. Pluto's function is to identify those things that are old and worn out that need to be disposed of to make room for something new in your life. Saturn is requiring that you look at them NOW and strongly implying that they relate to your beliefs, education, location, or possibly even your political or religious views. At least those are places to look for hints if you're having trouble figuring out what it might be. A square often denotes a crisis of some sort, though this could be something like an identity crisis and not necessarily on the material plane. Another aspect involved with the Full Moon is an opposition between Mercury and Uranus with Saturn glancing in that direction as well. Uranus, planet of sudden change, disruptions, and the unexpected, is camped out in Pisces, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors, and short journeys, which ties in quite well with Mercury, who rules the zodiacal 3rd House. This will definitely be further stimulating your thoughts in this area and is probably also making for a busy and hectic pace with regard to lots of errands and disruptions related to your siblings or neighbors. An opposition isn't exactly a friendly aspect, but it does establish a dialog, albeit tug-o-war, for us to consider both sides. Mars is trining Uranus, which hopefully is positive, but these two planets are also considered "bad boys" as a rule so their combined energy in a harmonious trine isn't always a good thing. However, you can do your best to bend it that way, though it could mean a lot of rather forceful input in the form of opinions and ideas from those close to you, particularly siblings or neighbors, that may not be especially welcome. Listen nonetheless, however, because there is likely to be some good ideas worth considering even if you don't care for the person or means by which they're delivered. And that pretty well does it for the Full Moon. The New Moon on October 18 occurs in Libra, your 10th House of career, reputation and community status, implying something new is coming in this area of your life. If your birthday is within a day or so of January 16 this will have additional punch with its most likely effect occurring in that 10th House in some way or another. Career is fairly obvious, as is reputation, but "status" has a multitude of meanings. For example, if you get married or divorced, become a parent, are recognized in some manner (positive or negative), are arrested, or retire, these all count within the realm of "status" changes. There are some friendly as well as challenging aspects associated with this lunation that you'll want to take note of. On the challenging side, both Saturn and Venus are squaring Pluto though Saturn is in your 9th House discussed in detail with the Full Moon while Venus has moved into your 10th, which is a rather favorable place for the Goddess of Love. That square to Pluto, who as also noted earlier is working hard at cleaning out the basement, attic and garage of your personality, will thus overlap with your beliefs and such and career. The implications in all this are ultimately positive, though getting there probably won't be painless. Something is likely to happen to force the issue and you may yelp in protest, yet when all the dust settles you'll be better off. Mars is quincunx Pluto and Mars has also moved into another sign at this point, in this case Leo, your 8th House of transformations, which is Pluto's zodiacal home. Thus, an adjustment, course change or Catch-22 will also have an effect on you at the personal level. One warning with Mars in the 8th House is appropriate, however. This is a time when you need to exercise extreme caution since this placement can incline you toward accidents and various other unpleasantries, though not necessarily. It is a possibility nonetheless. The last time Mars was in Leo was during May - June 2008, so think back to that time for possible clues of how this could manifest for you. The 8th House represents transformations, sex, death, and shared resources and represented by Scorpio on the zodiacal level. This means that it is ruled by Pluto and also Mars, who ruled it before Pluto's discovery. These two planets connecting in a quincunx that implies an adjustment or course change between you, personally, and your House of transformation bears watching. Don't overreact to the "death" part of the 8th House because this is most often in the figurative sense, i.e. getting rid of something so something else can take its place as noted earlier. But I still recommend you not take any unnecessary chances and proceed carefully in all endeavors. This is a lot of energy that is often hard to control unless done so consciously. Think about those things that need to change then use that planetary impetus to move forward in a methodical and deliberate, fully aware, manner. The New Moon, which comprises a conjunction between the Sun and Moon, is quincunx Uranus, further implying a change of course, perhaps a sudden or unexpected one. This could be due to an innovative brainstorm, a neighborhood event, or something to do with one of your siblings and may or may not be related to those transformational changes referred to above. You'll be relieved to know, however, that there are some positive aspects associated with this lunation as well. There's a wide but viable trine between Mercury and Jupiter which should bring financial benefits your way from your career, perhaps due to a new idea or thought on your part or something there. There is also a trine between the New Moon and Neptune, which should throw in some inspiration or a new vision for this part of your life. The trine to Chiron I tend to look at with a touch of skepticism, even though it also doesn't look horribly threatening. As the wounded healer you never know how he'll show up. Sometimes it's an injury and other times it's a healing experience that either you or someone else facilitates on your behalf. You may be able to assist someone else who's suffering as you have in the past or they may do the same for you. Chiron also represents disappointments, which are emotional injuries, but this could also indicate something finally comes through that you've been longing for. Of course us Cappies tend to be of the mind to expect nothing so that we'll never be disappointed, but you can always cross your fingers behind your back and hope for the best, which is what I'll be doing as a member of the Cappy Club of Gloom and Doom. And that pretty well does it for this month's lunations. Short Term Aspects October 1: Expect or even initiate some lively discussions with those close to you, perhaps even financial advisors, regarding the course you need to assume. Make sure the advice is sound and don't do anything contrary to your instincts. Nonetheless, if you've been having problems with your finances or perhaps even your priorities in life, this is the time to address it and make any needed adjustments to get on target. October 4: Full Moon today, as described with adequate gory detail above. October 8: Give considerable thought to any plans you have or should have relative to such things as furthering your education, moving, legal issues or even political or religious affiliations. It's also a time to take a solemn look at your core beliefs and expectations. October 9: Thinking outside the proverbial box could pay significant dividends today. Inspiration is out there so find some quiet time to listen to what the Universe is trying to tell you. Consider all the pros and cons with an open and optimistic mind. Mercury moves into Libra today, your 10th House of career, reputation and status, which will help facilitate communications and ideas in that part of your life so exploit it for all its worth. October 10: Pay attention to what is going on in your career and with your public image and look for financial opportunities or some other benefit to your material situation. Take a few moments to consider what you value most as well and whether you actions are in synch. Deep introspection regarding where you are and where you're going is worth your time today, so again find some time to give it serious thought. October 12 - 13: Watch for opportunities to network with someone to put together or execute some plans or redefine your beliefs or expectations with respect to some part of your life. Optimism is appropriate at this time and will make your hard work satisfying and fruitful. October 14 - 15: Venus goes into Libra, your 10th House of career and so forth, on the 14th, bringing her blessings to this part of your life. This transit, which will last until November 8, will enhance your public image and make others receptive to you in a favorable way. Keep your eyes open for opportunities in this part of your life and don't be afraid to leave something behind in so doing. October 16: Mars goes into Leo, your 8th House. Reread the cautions for this transit above. I hate to tell you this, but this transit is going to be in effect for a long time due to retrograde motion. Put it on your calendar not to take any unnecessary chances until June 8, 2010. Sorry. :-( HOWEVER, this could obviously be considered contrary to all the aspects that imply changes of direction and adjustments. As a practical Earth Sign you should know the difference between being foolish, impulsive or careless versus planned, motivated, deliberate transformational change. Just don't be stupid, particularly with such things as driving or other physical activities where you could be physically hurt. If you can't figure this out then check your birth certificate to make sure you're a Cappy. This day has the potential to be pivotal. Pay attention to everything going on around you, including the ideas and thoughts that cross your mind. Be open to inspiration. If you know intuitively that it's time for change, a big one, then take steps in that direction. Just don't be impulsive or careless. Take control of that energy from Mars and put it to work the way you choose. If you ignore it consider it the same as letting go of the steering wheel while traveling at 70 mph. October 18: New Moon today as described above. This should further emphasize the thoughts and events that occurred on the 16th. October 20: Big ideas that could have an expansive effect on your finances are possible today. Pursue them with an eye out for opportunities. October 23: The Sun goes into Scorpio today at 1:43 am CDT. That is your 11th House of groups, coworkers, organizations, friends, and hopes, wishes, and goals. During the next month direct your attention to this part of your life. This may not be convenient as you may prefer to cloister yourself and work on those new ideas and plans, which is fine as it pertains to pursuing your goals, but there's a reason you need to get out and talk with others as well. Strive for balance. Networking, feedback, and ideas from others could be the edge you need to succeed. October 24: As you scrutinize those goals or discuss them with others you'll start to see some of the changes you need to make. Don't be defensive about any behaviors you need to leave behind. To quote Nike, "Just do it." Changing your mindset and attitude is favored so listen up. Seek inspiration and it will find you. October 28: Mercury goes into Scorpio, enhancing communications with others and bringing ideas on how to achieve your goals. More financial benefits are out there as well. Continue to work on those attitude adjustments and seeing things differently. "If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got." I don't know who said that, but it makes sense. October 29: Cappy's Sign Ruler, Saturn, goes into Libra today. This is a good thing. Saturn is all about discipline and responsibility and his tutelage is what give Cappy's their strong work ethic and ambition. You can persevere and work harder the most others to achieve your goals and attain what you want. With him in your 10th House of career and reputation, he will give you what it takes to get where you want to be. This transit lasts until April 7, at which time Saturn will be back in Virgo due to retrograde motion. This retrograde period actually starts January 13. This is a time for reconsiderations and fully identifying those things in your life that need to change, particularly as they relate to your career/reputation and later your beliefs and expectations. In July 2010 when he once more enters Libra, you'll have an even better sense of where you need to go and able to make serious progress come September 2010. Patience is thus called for during the next year. Take care to not be discouraged if things are not progressing as you'd like. Put down that horned, Cappy head and proceed up that mountain.
