Long-Term Aspects and Trends There are quite a few interesting things going on that have long-term influences that you should know about. This is like taking really good notes during class so that the final is a piece of cake somewhere down the road. If you know where something is heading, it has a lot more meaning and is less likely to be considered a random event. Scorpios have a tremendous amount of discernment, but it never hurts to have a context to work with. If nothing else, forewarned is forearmed, making you even more formidable and less likely to make mistakes. First of all, your Sign Ruler, Pluto is now settled into Capricorn, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, short journeys, and neighborhood. You and Pluto should be good friends and you handle his influence like Achilles handled a sword. Talk about formidable, I would bet dollars to donuts that this is what this presence will do for you. You already can practically read other people's minds. This will take you even deeper, but in this case into your own thoughts and ideas. Since neighbors also reside in this astrological house, you'll have an instinctive awareness of what's going on around you as well. If you're formulating a plan of some kind, trying to impress your boss, starting a business, or virtually any endeavor that requires some thought (and the few that don't I won't go into since this is a family website), this will give you a tremendous advantage. Some people of other astrological signs are weeping and wailing and gnashing their teeth because Pluto will be in Capricorn until November 2024; conversely, you have great cause for celebration. The rest of the world has plenty to fear, but certainly not you. The only way you could fail with this placement would be if you just aren't paying attention. Another aspect to keep an eye on this month is that Lunar Eclipse attached to the Full Moon on February 9th. This occurs in your 10th House of career, reputation and public image, which should stir something up in this area of your life. The Solar Eclipse companion to this eclipse already occurred on January 26 in Aquarius, your 4th House of home environment. Eclipses have a personality of their own and this one is predicted to be of gentle character that will shift our group association either by travel or a shift in our thoughts and could also trigger increased commitment in a relationship. With these eclipses across your home/career house axis, the most likely effect will be in your career. Bear in mind that your career and day job are different and covered by different houses, i.e. the 10th and 6th, respectively. Starving artists working in a job where the most intelligent thing they say all day is "Do you want fries with that?" may be brilliant authors or musicians. Their creative efforts are where their heart is and where they'll leave their mark on the world, i.e. what they'll be remembered by. Handing out bags of fast food at the pickup window is their day job and that's it. Some people are fortunate enough that they are one and the same, but most of us are not that lucky. Meanwhile if you're having an eclipse in your 10th House, who knows? Maybe that big break is coming down the pike. Solar eclipses, which usually stir up events, can be in effect for as long as a year and lunar eclipses, which represent the emotional reaction or component, can last as long as six months. Some eclipses are never felt at all. If your birthday falls a few days on either side of October 30 or November 14, then this one of these will square your Natal Sun and probably be noticeable. Watch for the effects and give credit where credit's due. The last thing to ponder over the next month or so is that opposition between Saturn and Uranus, which will be in effect until mid-March. The principles of these two planets are as diametrically opposed as warrior Mars and peaceful Neptune in that Saturn is all about structure, boundaries, responsibility, obligations, and delays while Uranus represent sudden change, rebellion, unexpected events, and freedom from oppression. Thus, this aspect is about breaking free of restrictive boundaries that are keeping you from something. Saturn is in your 11th House of friends, groups, associations, coworkers, and hopes and wishes. As a fixed sign it's possible that you haven't changed any of these things in a long time and it's highly likely it's holding you back in some way. Uranus is in your 5th House of creativity, children, romance, entertainment and ego expression, urging spontaneity, disruption, and change. One possibility out of many with this aspect is that someone in your circle of friends may cross the boundary and become a lover. Of further interest is the fact that Saturn is retrograde. This inevitably encapsulates something that needs to be restructured and is running in the background like the processor on your computer. Until mid-March Uranus will be planting the seed of change while Saturn works at creating the infrastructure required. This may be entirely off your radar (though that's pretty unlikely for a Scorpio) until May 16, when Saturn goes direct. At that time you'll be fully away of what's going on and should start steps to take care of business. Provided you do so, by mid to late August, it should be all taken care of. As this months events transpire, give them some of that deep, Pluto-enhanced thought to see which of these themes it fits into. Some may even overlap. Nonetheless, understanding where they're going will give you more insight into how to handle them. Daily and Short-term Aspects For most of February, or at least until the 18th, the Sun is in Aquarius, your 4th House of home environment, which will bring emphasis to that part of your life. The Sun is far from alone over there, with it looking a lot like a planetary Grand Central Station. Jupiter is there all month, further expanding some element of your family or home, whether it's adding a new family member or remodeling. Neptune has been there for a long time, and he can be inspiring or deceptive as he works to dissolve the conventional boundaries associated with "home." During the course of the month, your ancient sign ruler, Mars, will arrive on February 4th, bringing drive and the courage to try something new. This could also increase the energy level in a way that increases arguments. Mercury enters Aquarius on the 14th, which will enhance communications in that area, if nothing else. Venus enters Aries, your 6th House of work, health and pets, on February 3rd and a few days later she and the Sun will connect with a rather large burst of energy. Venus in your 6th is quite favorable all around. It will enhance your natural charm and others on the job will perceive you in a favorable way. One way you'll be able to impress your coworkers and your boss will be by exercising that power boost Pluto is providing in your thoughts. You'll be able to go right to any hidden flaw in any plan or perceive things they never thought of in their wildest dreams. Combine that with that eclipse in your 10th House of career and there's no telling what can happen. If someone in your household tries to fool you about something, woe unto them, because you'll see through the deception as easily as glass. This is likely to cause an argument but there's little doubt who'll come out on top. Nonetheless, it will contribute to some changes of plan and whatever Saturn is up to over there in your House of friends. Expect a surprise of something unexpected on the 9th and remember that's also the day of that Lunar Eclipse in your House of career. On the 11th another breakthrough at home will add even more fuel to Saturn's work relative to your responsibilities. Another annoyance on the home front is coming on the 12th, whether it's another disturbance from your children or some other hassle or frustration. This may drive you to want to escape it all for a while. If that's the case, do so responsibly, if you know what I mean. Conversely, you may be in an exceptionally benevolent mood that day and be able to empathize with others to an amazing degree. On the 14th, Mercury goes into Aquarius, enhancing communications around home. On the 15th be careful that you don't expect too much of someone such that they disappoint you; your expectations were probably unrealistic in the first place. On the other hand, if someone was trying to deceive you in some way, the truth will come out the next day and confirm what your Scorpio instincts already told you. This is a favorable time to be spiffing up your home. You'll have a lot of energy, especially on the 17th, and you'll get a lot of satisfaction out of your efforts, then enjoy them for a long time to come. On the 18th the Sun goes into Pisces, your 5th House of creativity, children, romance and such, shifting emphasis to this area of your life. That same day getting along with the opposite sex will go well and it's also an excellent day to work around your home. Entertaining your friends is another possibility, to show off all the work you've done. On the 20th more unexpected news or disruptions from your children or romantic interest and again, if there are any secrets involved anywhere, you're going to be on them like white on rice. Your ability to understand others and their point of view will be greatly enhanced on the 24th - 25th, so this would be a good day to discuss any issues that have been causing friction; your ability to remember how much you care about the person will also help dissipate any residual anger. The New Moon comes along on the 25th as well, bringing something new (or possibly a new start) to your dealings with your children, love life, or creative efforts. The last few days of the month your buddy, Pluto, will be your personal assistant once more to help you discern information regarding your home or family members. This is not necessarily a problem with a person but could be some mysterious malfunction or pending repair that no one has been about to troubleshoot. By the end of the month you'll be able to figure out, even if no one else can. This will result in a new approach to the problem or alternate plan. This is going to be a very dynamic month with a lot going on at home. Activities with children or romantic interests will be full of surprises, and it's also a good time to look after your health. It's a little past New Years for resolutions, but it's never too late to get on a fitness plan. Your Scorpio radar is stronger than ever, which will help you solve just about anything, up to and including the mysteries of life. New insights will come your way and deepen your understanding of those around you and life in general. It should be an interesting and generally good month. What does 2009 hold for you?
