Lunations and Long Term Aspects

First of all, you need to take note of the fact that Mercury, your Sign Ruler, is going to be retrograde from May 6 - 30.  That means that another one of those annoying periods is on the way when anything electronic or mechanical tends to go on the fritz.  Anything that governs or facilitates movement of any kind, whether it's data, thoughts, human communications, machinery, cars, or traffic signals, is not going to be up to snuff.  Cell phones, computers, TV's, appliances, and ideas are especially vulnerable.  Since you're prone to perfectionism, these little annoyances are more bothersome than major disasters, but since you also like to plan, consider the fact that forewarned is forearmed.  Factor in additional time to get anything accomplished (which may not be much) and be sure to definitely schedule more down time to de-stress.  You're probably going to need it.  And, as always, remember not to purchase anything during this time that fits one of those Mercury-ruled categories.  In other words, things like food, furniture and garden tools are okay as long as they don't have any mechanical elements.  For example, I wouldn't buy a recliner at this time but a couch or table should be fine.

During this time Mercury is transiting your 10th House of career and reputation and around mid-May will back into your 9th House of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, and long distance travel.  These are the areas in which you will see the most effects personally.  This time period is actually good for something, believe it or not, and you may as well take advantage of it any way you can.  Since you tend to want to move forward as quickly as possible (and so does Gemini, who is also ruled by Mercury), in its infinite wisdom the Universe provides three times a year when you need to revisit what you're doing.  This is when you go back and check your work, so to speak, and edit, revise, rethink, and re-plan to make sure you're on the right track.  I know you don't like to admit that you ever make mistakes, so look upon it as your cosmological assistant to make sure you get as close to perfection as possible.  Making forward progress will be an uphill battle all the way, but success is almost assured in taking a break to review your path.  For this cycle, take a look at your career goals and aspirations early in the month and then in the second half scrutinize your beliefs, any contracts your considering, your education and any travel or relocation plans you're considering.  Avoid moving forward in any of these areas until after the 30th.

The Full Moon on May 8th is in Scorpio, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, and short journeys.  A Full Moon usually brings a culmination of some description, so something on your mental landscape should draw to a conclusion or enter a new phase.  This is a pretty broad venue, so the specific thought may be discerned by looking at the other aspects in effect during this lunation.  Most of these are long-term involving the outer planets and will persist for the New Moon as well; in fact, in some cases, beyond that into late summer.  There are some definite trends in place that are worth noting.  First of all, both Mars and Venus are in Aries, your 8th House of transformations, sex, death and regeneration, and other people's money, a.k.a. debt.  This is a house of obvious intensity and while Mars is there you need to be extra careful and not take any unnecessary chances since accidents are likely at this time.  With both Venus and Mars in the house that comprises sex, there is probably something going on in that part of your life.  I'm not going to go there, for obvious reasons, but if you've noted any changes or shifts in that part of your life, this could be the reason.

Saturn has been retrograde in Virgo since New Years Eve.  Thank heavens this will end on May 16th, at least the sense of being stuck in reverse.  With this going on in your 1st House you are being prodded to restructure something related to yourself personally.  This could be your attitude or any number of things.  Since Virgos strive for perfection, this should ultimately come out well for you.  If your birthday falls between September 5 - 15th, possibly give or take a day, this will have had an even stronger effect.   As Saturn goes direct he'll contact the Natal Sun for these folks again over the next several months, at which time you'll have no doubt what needs to be done.  If you'd had the feeling of being stuck in reverse since the first part of the year, this could easily explain it.  These personal changes stand a good chance of having a transformational effect on you.  Remember what I said about Mars in the 8th House, however.  You don't want this to come as the result of an accident!

Pluto is still chugging away in Capricorn, your 5th House of ego expression, children, romance, creativity, entertainment and speculation.  At the time of the Full Moon give some consideration to any appropriate adjustments that are needed in that area, particularly if you've been neglecting them or perhaps the opposite, giving them more time and attention than they deserve, such as a frivolous hobby.  I'm sure your significant other will be able to help you with this one.

The most interesting aspect out there for the Full Moon which also persists for the New Moon and until mid-August is a stellium in Aquarius, your 6th House of work, health, and small animals.  The 6th House is particularly important to Virgos since this is the zodiacal House that Virgo rules.  These are elements that are very important to you and are part of your essence.  Typically you have a very strong work-ethic and like to stay busy.  You're health-conscious and are more aware of most of nutrition; most of you will have a cabinet full of herb and mineral supplements.  Animals are also something you enjoy, probably because they're easier to get along with and are less critical than most people.  A stellium, in case you're wondering, is a grouping of three or more planets in the same sign or house.  In this case there's a trio of astrological entities (remember they're not all planets) that comprise Jupiter, Neptune, and the asteroid, Chiron.  Let's see what they may be up to, especially since they're not only in the same house but close enough together by degree that they represent a very tight conjunction, blending their energies together in a very intense manner.

Jupiter is the largest known planet who is generally viewed as lucky.  He expands and enlarges what he touches, but this can sometimes result in over-confidence or exaggeration.  Neptune, King of the Deep, is the master of illusion and delusion.  He tends to dissolve what he touches, or at least put it behind a heavy filter that masks reality.  He is also prone to extreme idealism, though this can be expressed in a positive manner through charity and compassion.  Chiron, the wounded healer, is about injuries of all kinds.  Where he's placed in your birth chart determines the area of your life where you'll experience painful experiences from which you should derive wisdom and compassion, then use to assist others similarly afflicted.  For example, if you had a learning disability as a child, you may be prone to become a special education teacher.  Put these three together in your house of work, health, and pets and I suspect it will result in a surge of volunteer activity, which would be a very positive way to use this energy.  It could also result in inflated, unrealistic expectations regarding a dream of yours that's not based on reality, the pursuit of which will bite you in the butt.  Since Virgos are practical Earth Signs, this shouldn't be too much of a problem for you, but you never know.  If the shoe fits, wear it.

The New Moon on the 24th contains these same aspects, but the implication is that these areas are headed in a new direction by then.  It's also interesting to note that the stellium is intensified by the fact that all three elements are in the same degree, making it a very tight conjunction.  Mercury is still retrograde for another week, but at least by then Saturn is direct.  The New Moon itself occurs in Gemini, your 10th House of career and reputation.  Perhaps all these ruminations in your House of work noted above tie into your career in some way.  Remember that the 6th House of work and occupation is not necessarily the same as your 10th House of career.  For example, your work may comprise saying "Do you want fries with that?" while you are actually a gifted musician who spends your off-hours composing, which will be what people remember you for and for which you may ultimately become famous.  The lucky ones, or perhaps those with vision and the courage to take a chance, are able to tie these two together to attain the satisfaction they desire in spending the bulk of their time and earning their living doing what they love.  So these are all things you need to think about, not only this month but in the months to come.

Short Term Aspects

The daily aspects are what provide the stepping stones along the path of change as dictated by the outer planets.  Think of them as similar to what you see on Google Earth when you're looking at an aerial view.  What you see on the ground when you click on one of those little cameras would be similar to the daily influences.  The first week of May Venus will square Pluto, which is likely to have something to do with that sex issue, if there is one.  It could also relate to your children in some way, or even tie back to your hobbies or means of self-expression.  Right around May 5th, take some time to give your core beliefs some thought.  If you've been thinking of pursuing a long trip, furthering your education, signing a contract, or relocating, this is also a good time to give them some attention as well.  The next day Mercury goes retrograde, so then you can reconsider and research whatever you come up with until the end of the month.  The Full Moon occurs on the 8th, bringing the culmination of something.

On the 11th, a Catch-22 or adjustment will be required, perhaps simply in your attitude.  A few days later, on the 16th, Saturn goes direct, which should feel as if you've released the emergency brake on your car as you attempt to move forward.  At this same time, something will draw attention to whatever it is you should be pursuing relative to your work.  This may come as the result of a very good suggestion from someone close to you that gets you thinking in that direction.  An opportunity is there, so pay attention.  More information or ideas will come along on the 18th, though remember this may also be simply revisions or things you missed the first time through since Mercury is retrograde.  Between now and the 20th, even more information will come out on that work matter, with the potential for more personal adjustments of a transformational nature.

The Sun goes into Gemini on May 21st, bringing light and emphasis to your 10th House of career and reputation.  Previously it was in your 9th House of beliefs and so forth, so now is when you apply what you believe to what you do.  Adjustments to the situation with your children or love interests may arise around the 23rd, though these may also pertain to your ego or self-expression.  The Moon occurs on the 24th, then on the 26th the motivation will come regarding moving forward with that volunteer project or pursuing that inspiration, whichever it might be.  Hang on for a few more days, then on May 30 when Mercury goes direct, you should be able to start making progress in that direct.

This is a very complex and meaningful month for you with a lot going on everywhere from your bedroom to your hobbies and perhaps your life's work.  If your life is currently everything you want it to be, there's a good chance that the Universe doesn't agree and is going to nudge you in a different direction.  If you know you're not on target, then this should help you figure out which direction to go.  Making direct progress isn't likely this month with Saturn retrograde until May 16 and Mercury RX until the 30th, but re-planning and rethinking are favored such that when the month is through you can definitely get to it.
