Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there's another eclipse, but this time it's solar whereas on New Years Eve/Day it was of the lunar persuasion.  Both of them are part of the 12 North family of the Saros Series which tends to bring additional responsibility into your life due to someone else failing to do so.  The usual difference between their effects is that lunar eclipses tend to affect you more on the internal or emotional level whereas the solar version can bring events and situations your way that affect you, regardless of whether or not you had anything to do with creating them.  Rest assured, however, that there are no coincidences and anything that comes your way was in the process of evolving astrologically, even if you weren't aware of it.  The solar eclipse on January 15 occurs in fellow Earth Sign, Capricorn, your 9th House of beliefs and expectations, higher learning, legal matters, interactions with other cultures, relocation and long-distance travel.  There are numerous planets in Capricorn at the time, giving this even more energy.  For one thing, Venus, your Sign Ruler, is conjunct the Sun/Moon pair, which should have a favorable effect.  Those of you with birthdays between May 13 - 19 will feel this even stronger as the trio throws a nice, harmonious trine to your Natal Sun, implying whatever going on in that part of your life is likely to have a favorable outcome.

Another indicator of something good coming your way is the fact that the eclipse trio is sextile Uranus in Pisces, your 11th House of groups, friends, organizations, goals, hopes and wishes.  A sextile usually denotes an opportunity and with Uranus involved it is likely to come out of the blue and tie in with the primary focus of the eclipse, which is one or more of those 9th House matters noted earlier.  Perhaps a friend will lend a helping hand, or something that occurs will contribute in a positive way to one of your goals.  The Lunar North Node is also in fairly close proximity, indicating something new is coming your way.  Bear in mind that this may be something on the mental plane and simply relate to your beliefs, expectations, or philosophy of life.

Pluto and Mercury are conjunct for the eclipse, also in Capricorn, with Mercury stationing, which means he's slowing down and getting ready to come out of retrograde.  Mercury RX is a time to be rethinking and reconsidering, which will have related to those 9th House issues and started the day after Christmas.  Moving forward during that time is typically like pulling teeth, but serves a useful purpose as it implies that something isn't quite right and needs to be rearranged.  In cahoots with Pluto, figuring out what that is should be a piece of cake since Pluto flushes out hidden information and helps dig below the surface to those things that have been buried or in this case even old beliefs and expectations for which you'll gain new insights during this time.

Pluto and Mercury are both square Saturn, also retrograde, in Libra, your 6th House of work, service and health.  During Saturn RX periods, our subconscious is activated regarding something that needs restructuring.  You are often unaware of this during the entire RX period with the realization of what it is surfacing when Saturn goes direct, which in this case will be the end of May.  You may feel burdened, depressed or weighted down during this time and not know why.  If so, look to this part of your life for the reason and consider anything you need to change in this part of your life.  This eclipse will infuse that process with the potential for extremely deep understanding of your beliefs and expectations toward that area of your life, which will help you figure out what needs to be done.  While this may be a challenging or even difficult time, rest assured that the end result is going to be positive.  Undoing old habits isn't easy, but if they're holding you back it's well worth the effort.

Another influence active with this eclipse is Mars, also retrograde, in fellow Fixed Sign Leo, your 4th House of home environment.  Mars RX works on unresolved issues that were buried, procrastinated, ignored or left unfinished in that part of your life.  This will be particularly strong for those of you with birthdays within a day or so of May 6, though the influence will be directed at those of you with birthdays between April 21 - May 11 at some time or another during the RX period.  Undoubtedly all of these aspects will work together and help take care of various issues or situations over the months to come.

The Full Moon on January 30 will further drive Mars' mission due to being in close conjunction to his position; those of you born right around April 30 will feel this stronger than others.  Adjustments that involve an expansion to your goals or perhaps your social circle are also likely and will relate somehow to that restructuring in progress with your work or health.  This implies that networking would be beneficial if the restructuring in your 6th House of work involves finding a different job.  It also carries implications for a change of course with regard to providing service through an organization of some sort.  All of this, in turn, could result from a complete overhaul of your beliefs and expectations.  I can't begin to guess specifically what those may be, but I'm sure you will know if you give it some thought.

Remember that a Full Moon denotes an ending, culmination or phase shift, which is most likely to involve your home environment.  This can be as simple as an attitude change though it can manifest on a more physical level.  There are numerous planets in Aquarius, your 10th House of career, reputation, status, and public image that suggest a fair amount of action in that part of your life as well.  "Status" is a slightly vague term but involves those things where a label or title is frequently involved.  For example, getting married or divorced, graduating from school, obtaining a license, getting a promotion or conversely, getting fired, buying property, and so forth.  Since Aquarius is square Taurus, these may bring a challenge, especially for those of you born around April 30th, so be prepared.  Consider all those other aspects and the changes they imply, however.  As a Fixed Sign change is difficult for Taurus, but it's futile to argue with the Universe.  There are some long-term aspects out there to help you move at a pace that is reasonably comfortable, but ignoring it completely is not going to bring a result that you will like when all is said and done.

Daily and Short-term Aspects

January 4 - 5:  During this time consider a new approach to something you have in-work at this time that relates to higher learning, a legal matter, a relocation, other cultures or even something as fundamental as your philosophy of life as defined by your beliefs and expectations.

January 7 - 8:  What unresolved issue or unfinished project at home needs attention?  What can you see and understand with a new perspective versus when the situation first came up?

January 11:  This has all the makings of a very good day.  Put it to work for you however you see fit.

January 13:  Expect the unexpected, particularly with regard to your friends, organizational ties, or even your goals.  An opportunity is likely, so follow your hunches.  Saturn goes retrograde today and starts grinding away on something that needs to be restructured with regard to your work, service, or health.

January 15:  New Moon/Solar Eclipse as defined above.  Mercury also goes direct today, allowing you to move forward with regard to something that may have seemed stuck for the past three weeks, perhaps due to the holidays.

January 18:  Your Sign Ruler, Venus, enters Aquarius today, bringing her blessings to your 10th House of career and status.  Jupiter also enters Pisces, your 11th House of friends, coworkers, group associations in general, as well as your goals, hopes and wishes.  This indicates the possibility for expansion in this area so put it to work for your benefit.

January 20:  The Sun goes into Aquarius, further emphasizing your career and status.

January 22 - 24:  Something good is going on with regard to your work and career at this time, even if it's behind the scenes.  If you've been considering changing fields, this is a favorable time to give that serious consideration.

January 25:  What adjustments or course changes are required to take care of any unfinished business on the homefront?  Information should be out there today to help you decide.

January 26 - 29:  Considerations involving home and career are active today.  Think about those unresolved issues some more and how they're affecting your status or reputation.

January 30:  Full Moon as described above.

January 31:  That Saturn - Pluto square is exact today, but will linger for several months due to retrograde motion on the part of both planets.  Remember that this relates to restructuring your work, service or health and something going on with regard to your education, a legal matter, relocation, or perhaps no more than your beliefs and expectations.  Expect to be examining these closely in the months to come.
