Lunations and Long-term Aspects There's another eclipse this month on the 15th but this time it's of the solar variety. It's a member of the 12 North family in the Saros Series like its lunar counterpart on New Years Eve/Day, depending on where you live, with the general theme of bringing more responsibility into your life, often as the result of someone else no longer being able to fulfill them. Lunar eclipses usually affect you on the internal or emotional level while solar eclipses are more likely to bring events or situations your way that you seemingly had nothing to do with, yet will affect you in some way or require action. Rest assured that those circumstances have been evolving astrologically whether or not you were aware of them; there are no coincidences. Scorpios have a well-developed 6th sense, however, so chances are you have smelled something coming even if you didn't know exactly what it would be. This eclipse occurs in Capricorn, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and short journeys, which includes all that running around you do on a regular basis. If your birthday is within a few days of November 18 this will have an even stronger effect. Venus is conjunct the eclipse Sun/Moon which suggests it will have a positive effect, perhaps appearing in your 7th House of close relationships or 12th House of spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, institutions, confinement and hidden enemies, which are ruled by Venus. The Lunar North Node is in close proximity as well, which indicates something (or someone) new coming into your life that relates to your 3rd House. This could even be a new idea related to making money or meeting someone. Since the 3rd includes your mental plane, just about any thought or idea can be affected. The eclipse trio is also sextile Uranus in Pisces, your 5th House of ego expression, creativity, children, romance, speculation and entertainment, providing an unexpected or surprise opportunity in that part of your life. This is a very unique and powerful aspect so put it to good use! Your Sign Ruler, Pluto is conjunct Mercury for the eclipse, though Mercury is stationing direct, meaning it's nearly standing still as it prepares to return to forward motion after being retrograde since the day after Christmas. When these two get together, especially in your 3rd House of thought, you are going to be blessed with the ability to think far deeper than usual, which for a Scorpio puts you in the extreme subterranean range. Mercury RX drives us to rethink, revise, reconsider and re-plan and with Pluto involved you'll be able to uncover facts and information in such a way that others will think you have x-ray vision or psychic abilities far beyond the norm. These two planets are square Saturn, also retrograde since January 13, who's in Libra, your 12th House of spirituality and such as noted above. Saturn RX will be in effect until the end of May while he's restructuring something in this part of your life. Pay particular attention to any area where you have self-defeating behaviors that you would do well to ditch. While the 12th House includes inspiration and enlightenment it also includes hidden enemies and self-undoing, so if you have anything in those areas that you should fix, now is the time to do so. Saturn RX works on the unconscious level so you may not be aware of what is going on, though as a Scorpio you might. You'll definitely know by the end of May, but for now it's possible you'll simply feel restless or slightly bummed out without knowing why. Pluto will be square Saturn for quite a while due to retrograde motion on the part of both planets giving you plenty of time to figure it out. Saturn is a stern taskmaster who is often considered the Lord of Karma. If you have broken any rules or laws, he will see to it that you ultimately pay the price for these actions. He rules responsibility, obligations, authority, delays, restrictions and boundaries. For example, if you have unpaid traffic tickets and wind up in jail, don't pay your bills and wind up with bad credit that precludes you from getting what you want, or are generally irresponsible and wind up with a bad reputation, these are all the work of Saturn. You may have thought some of these things were sufficiently buried or hidden, but in cahoots with Pluto, those things are going to surface. This can be for or against you, depending on your past behavior and depending on how you use the energy. It could be extremely inspiring or less than enchanting. Another planet to keep an eye on is Mars, especially since he's your Ancient Sign Ruler. He's retrograde as well in fellow Fixed Sign, Leo, your 10th House of career, reputation, public image and status. Status is a somewhat vague term that applies to those things that are often expressed by a title or label. For example, if you get married or divorced, graduate from school, obtain a license of some sort, purchase property, or encounter anything else of this nature, these are all status-related items that will show up in your 10th House. Mars RX works at uncovering unresolved issues, those things that you swept beneath the rug and tried to forget but should have taken action on. Think of anything unfinished in this area as well. Mars will be retrograde until March 10, giving you a chance to identify what this unresolved or unfinished item is, then you have until mid-May to get it taken care of once and for all so you can move forward unencumbered. During this retrograde period, which is obviously fairly lengthy, sooner or later he is going to be hitting the majority of Scorpios, i.e. those born anywhere between October 24 - November 13. This month those of you born between November 1 - 12 will be the primary targets with those born earlier than that coming up in February and March. If the solar eclipse doesn't give you a sufficient kick in the butt to get that issue taken care of once and for all, the Full Moon on January 30 will probably finish the job since it is conjunct Mars RX. Those of you born the first week of November are most likely to feel that in no uncertain terms. Remember that a Full Moon indicates an ending or culmination, which is sometimes the shifting to a new phase, which is going to affect your career or reputation or status in some way. Other things to watch for with this lunation include a course change or adjustment with regard to your children, ego, romantic interests, or speculations. This is likely to be an expansion in this area as a result of deep and possibly profound insights or enlightenment that comes from restructuring your spiritual views or taking more responsibility for that part of your life. Annoying information or news pertaining to a female in your home environment or perhaps a financial issue is possible as well. Daily and Short-Term Aspects January 4 - 5: This is an excellent time for rethinking and reconsidering just about anything. You may be so deluged with ideas that you should probably write them down for future reference. It's also a good time for running errands and taking care of things you may have put off or neglected. January 7 - 8: Be aware of anything you need to do to take care of an old issue or situation that may have had an unfavorable affect on your reputation or may be holding you back in your career. Make it priority to take care of any unfinished business or projects. January 11: This is a very favorable day for money making ideas, meeting with siblings or neighbors, or running errands. January 13: Saturn goes retrograde today, thus starting the rumination process with regard to something that may be holding you back. If you feel somewhat bummed out but don't know why, this is probably the reason. On the positive side, it's an excellent day for coming up with innovative ideas of a creative nature. Your children or romantic interests may throw a surprise or two your way as well. January 15: New Moon/Solar Eclipse as described above. Mercury goes direct, marking the time to move forward again with any ideas. This is also the time where purchasing anything of an electronic or mechanical nature is okay again. If you picked up anything in those after-Christmas sales that fits that description and it turned out to not function as expected, now is the time to return it. Doing so before this will result in more of the same. January 18: Venus enters fellow Fixed Sign, Aquarius, bringing her blessings to your home environment. Interactions with family members should be favorable with the possibility of money luck in there as well. If anyone close to you owes you money, now is a good time to collect. Jupiter enters fellow Water Sign, Pisces, today as well, bringing luck and expansion to your creative side, romantic interests, or possibly your ego. January 20: The Sun enters Aquarius, highlighting your home environment even more for the next month. January 22 - 24: An excellent day for improving things around the house, but primarily with respect to relationships. What can you do to make things more pleasant and reflect your true feelings for your loved ones? January 25: If you didn't already know what unfinished business or project you need to address, today is a good one to figure that out. January 26 - 29: If you need more money to take proper care of your household, think long and hard about those unfinished projects or unresolved issues that are affecting your career or public image in some way. January 30: Full Moon today as described above. January 31: That Saturn - Pluto square is exact today, so be on the lookout for deep and profound insights and inspiration that provide the understanding you need to unfetter yourself from an self-defeating behaviors.
