Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month brings the second and possibly better half of that lunar eclipse that marked New Years Eve (or day, depending where you live).  This one is the solar component and takes place on January 15 in fellow Cardinal Sign, Capricorn, your 4th House of home environment; if your birthday is within a few days of October 19 this will have the strongest influence.  While lunar eclipses usually operate on the internal or emotional level, solar eclipses can bring events and circumstances our way that we may had nothing to do with.  Rest assured, however, that they were evolving astrologically, even if they weren't on your personal radar; there are no coincidences.  Like its lunar component, this eclipse is also a member of the 12 North family in the Saros Series, which typically brings additional responsibilities, often because someone else is no longer able to carry them.  With this occurring in your 4th House of home environment, this would most likely involve a family member or someone in your household.  Since Venus is conjunct the eclipse Sun/Moon pair, this implies this individual would be female.  Venus has multiple interpretations, however, so it could also imply simply a loved one or even involve money.  Uranus is tied into things from your 6th House of work, health and service, indicating an unexpected opportunity from that direction, though a sudden opportunity for work or service may not be exactly what you had in mind.

Capricorn is loaded with numerous planets as well as the North Lunar Node, all of which will bring a lot of energy to this part of your life.  The Lunar North Node usually brings something new into your life.  Pluto, of course, is there to stay for a long, long time, which is going to stir things up a bit.  Expect to see power struggles and also a weeding out of those things that no longer serve a useful purpose, whether it's cleaning out the attic and garage or ridding yourself of other things around the house (including dysfunctional relationships) that are obsolete.  Pluto is conjunct Mercury for the eclipse with the latter stationing direct, in other words getting ready to come out of retrograde a few hours after the eclipse occurs.  While Mercury is retrograde you seldom make forward progress in the area he's affecting.  Rather it's a time to reconsider, rethink and re-plan, but once he goes direct you can progress again.  Mercury rules information and communication so his partnership with Pluto will bring out previously hidden information.

This conjunct pair also happens to be squaring Saturn, also retrograde, in your own sign of Libra.  If your birthday is right around September 27 you are already feeling Saturn, which is not exactly a transit worth celebrating.  Saturn is all about responsibility, obligation, boundaries, restrictions, delays, and those hard lessons that come our way from time to time.  Saturn retrograde is often subtle as he works subconsciously for the most part, stirring things up for internal rumination which eventually break the surface to your consciousness about the time he goes direct, which will be the end of May.  However, you may be feeling discontented and restless or even depressed without knowing why since he frequently has the effect of a cosmic wet blanket.  His square to Pluto is going to be in force for several months due to retrograde motion on the part of both planets.  This transit will target your responsibilities as they relate to your homelife and also help you clean house, so to speak, regarding those extraneous activities that upset your priorities.  Another issue that may demand attention during this time is whether or not home responsibilities are equally balanced.  If one family member is shouldering the bulk of the load, now is the time to look at setting appropriate boundaries.

Another factor in this eclipse is retrograde Mars who's in Leo, your 11th House of friends, coworkers, group associations, organizations and goals, hopes and wishes.  Mars RX will flush out an unresolved issues in this area, those things you should have taken action on but didn't, preferring to ignore it or sweep it under the proverbial rug.  Libras don't like confrontations or contention so this is something you do more than you realize.  However, some issues simply fester or rot when ignored so Mars will stir things up and give you the opportunity to take care of business.  Since this is also the house of goals, hopes and wishes, if you left anything unfinished or ignored in that area this will also relate to that.  For example, if you quit school, now may be the time when you realize you need to go back.

The Full Moon on January 30 is also in Leo and conjunct Mars, further emphasizing any unfinished business in this part of your life.  A Full Moon brings endings and culminations, though these can sometimes be an attitude adjustment as opposed to actual events.  In concert with Mars it could be saying it's time to get with the program and do what you need to do.  Saturn hasn't moved much, so is still squaring Pluto, but Jupiter has gotten into the game.  Jupiter is typically a lucky, expansive planet and he has recently moved into Pisces, your 6th House of work and service.  He is sextile Pluto, again suggesting a potential opportunity which ties back to those responsibility and home issues, though it could simply mean even more work.  Adjustments to your responsibilities are also indicated by all this, which makes sense, particularly if the balance of responsibility is one of the issues you're dealing with.

Your Sign Ruler, Venus, is in your 5th House of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation, which is usually a pleasant placement, but there are indications that those home issues are going to cause irritations in this area, possibly by keeping you away from those things you'd prefer to be doing.  This should also serve as a reminder to take care of yourself during this time, which is likely to be challenging.  If you wind up with an emotional dead battery you won't be able to help anyone, so bear in mind that your needs are important, too.

Short-term and Daily Aspects

January 4 - 5:  Expect news to come to light with respect to home that will suggest you need to go back to the drawing board.  Don't resist as this will turn out to be a good thing and bring benefits your way, perhaps by bringing you closer to a loved one.

January 7 - 8:    An adjustment or change of course due to some unresolved issue will get your attention today.  If all your relationships are going well, give your home finances a reality check.

January 11:  Today you are likely to realize how much you care about your family.  If possible, plan something enjoyable that will bring you closer together.

January 13:  Saturn goes retrograde today which will internalize his energy and start you ruminating on something that needs to be restructured in some way.  Self-discipline is another target area for this transit which will last until the end of May.  An opportunity for work or service is also likely to come your way.

January 15:  New Moon/Solar Eclipse today as described above.  Mercury goes direct, allowing household plans and activities to move forward more easily.

January 18:  Venus enters Aquarius, giving your ego a boost and bringing favor to your interactions with your children or romantic partner.  It also bodes well for enjoying yourself or speculations.  Jupiter enters Pisces, implying an expansion of your work or service activities.

January 20:  The Sun joins Venus in Aquarius, further highlighting the areas noted for the 18th.

January 22 - 24:  While you're feeling good about yourself, take a look at those things you need to do in order to eliminate some of your self-defeating behaviors.  If you tend to let people walk all over you and be a people pleaser, think about what you can do to say "No" in a friendly but firm way.

January 25:  News or information regarding something at home is going to require an adjustment that is likely to involve an unresolved issue, either with one of your group associations or friends or alternatively one of your goals.

January 26 - 29:  If you haven't figured out what that unresolved issue is yet, you should be able to do so today.  If you already have, it will be more apparent or perhaps you'll hit the jackpot and discover another one.

January 30:  Full Moon today as described above.

January 31:  That Saturn - Pluto square is exact today, making it a good day to clean out the attic or garage or think about areas where more discipline is required.
