Lunations and Long-term Aspects On January 15 the second half of that 12 North eclipse in the Saros Series, this time the solar component, will be upon us. While lunar eclipses tend to affect us on the internal or emotional level, solar eclipses are prone to trigger events that impact us in some way. Realize, of course, that these events have been evolving astrologically for a long time, they're just been beneath your radar and conscious awareness, but rest assured that there are no coincidences. The theme of this family of eclipses is to introduce additional responsibility into our lives, often because someone else is no longer able to perform them. While this can be a bit unsettling, the ultimate result is positive in that you discover your capabilities, expand your experience base, and build self-esteem. This eclipse occurs in Capricorn, your 6th House of work, service, health and pets. If your birthday is within a day or so of August 18 this is likely to have an even stronger impact which will necessitate an adjustment or change of course in this part of your life. This location also implies that those additional responsibilities will hail from that area, perhaps because someone quits, retires, is dismissed or leaves due to some other reason, such as a promotion or another job. There is also the chance that any additional obligations will be self-imposed. There are several planets as well as the North Lunar Node in Capricorn for this eclipse which will give this one its unique flavor along with its other aspects. Pluto, retrograde Mercury, the North Node, Sun, Moon and Venus are all is residence, adding their respective energies to this part of your life. Venus is conjunct the eclipse, which should sweeten its flavor, perhaps by bringing more money your way, should this be involved with your job. Also involved in this conjunction is Saturn, also retrograde, and squaring them both. Saturn is in Libra, your 3rd House of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings, and short journeys, which include all those errands you run. Saturn RX, which starts on January 13 and lasts until the end of May, is helping you to restructure something in this part of your life. Saturn represents responsibility, authority figures, restrictions, boundaries, delays, and structure and imposes harsh consequences if you ignore them. For example, if you don't pay your bills, then your credit suffers and Saturn makes sure you can't buy that new car or house you want so badly until you rectify the past. In your 3rd House he would be working on your thoughts, ideas, and perhaps situations or circumstances tied to your neighbors or siblings. Of course everything we ever do or accomplish starts out as a thought or idea, so if they've been out of whack and not leading you toward your destiny, Saturn, the ultimate tutor, is going to do what he can to get you on track. That square to Pluto/Mercury could be telling you that it's time to move on to something more challenging, even though you are quite comfortable where you are. This is not a change that is going to be a cakewalk but you will definitely benefit by listening. Uranus, planet of disruptions, sudden change, the unexpected, rebellion and the unconventional, is in your 8th House of transformations, sex, death, shared resources and other people's money where he is sextile the eclipse with its Venusian sidekick, implying an opportunity may arise suddenly, perhaps through something like an inheritance or possibly simply through a personal transformation. Keep an eye out for this, which could come up to a few weeks before the actual eclipse or within several weeks or even months following. There's quite a bit going on between 21 - 29 degrees, so if your birthday is between August 13 - 24 this may be a real humdinger that is going to involves one or more close relationship as well. A Full Moon brings a culmination or shift to a new phase, which is sometimes no more than a change in your attitude, though actual events can accompany it as well. This may bring an entirely new view of whatever is unresolved, helping you commit yourself to take care of it once and for all. Retrograde Saturn is still grinding away on your thoughts, ideas and perhaps your neighbors and siblings, but he is also quincunx Jupiter, who slips into Pisces on January 18. A quincunx denotes an adjustment or change of course and with Jupiter involved this may be a big one, particularly since Pisces is your 8th House of transformations and so forth. In the simplest terms, restructuring your thoughts could bring about a major change in you. Jupiter is sextile Pluto, indicating that some of this transformational change will come as a result of whatever is going on at work as far as seeing things you hadn't seen before. Speaking of work, there are likely to be a few annoyances there as well, more than likely news from a woman you work with closely or know well. This time the bulk of the planets is in Aquarius, your 7th House of close relationships, so you can expect things to be hopping there as well. Short-term Aspects January 4 - 5: Your ideas, especially as they pertain to work, can draw a lot of attention during this time and be viewed very favorably. January 7 - 8: That personal attention at work may be enough to set you off in a slightly different direction by building your confidence. This will help you move forward on those unresolved issues. Note that this could even be something you started but never finished that affects your personally. January 11: Expect more favorable attention at work today and put it to good use. If you need to make a presentation, meet someone for the first time, or do anything where you especially need to be perceived in a positive way, this is the day. January 13: Saturn goes retrograde today and starts grinding away on whatever that is resident in your thoughts, ideas, neighborhood or circle of siblings that needs to be restructured. You may not know what this is for several months and it could nag at you subconsciously to the point where you know something is bugging you but you don't know what it is. Expect the unexpected today, which is going to bring an opportunity along. January 15: New Moon/Solar Eclipse as described above. Mercury goes direct today which will help you move forward with your work or current project. January 18: Venus goes into Aquarius, your polar sign and 7th House of relationships, which should bode well for that part of your life. Jupiter goes into Pisces today as well, which will help your expand your horizons and move toward that transformation that is undoubtedly coming your way. January 20: The Sun goes into Aquarius today, bringing his light and warmth to your relationships as well. There will be an emphasis on these individuals for the next month which include your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, competitors, and any professionals you interact with on a one-on-one basis. January 22 - 24: Restructuring your ideas will benefit you on the job. Displaying a humble attitude and not assuming more authority than you actually have will be to your advantage. This applies to any interactions with neighbors or your siblings as well. January 25: News or information in the workplace is going to push you toward an adjustment or change of course, perhaps with regard to that unresolved issue. For example, if you didn't finish school, you may realize that your job isn't taking you anywhere and it's time to finish up. January 26 - 29: One or more people in your inner circle may be very complimentary today and distract you from that unresolved issue you should be pursuing. Recognize them for what they are without being distracted from what you have to do. For example, if you've decided to go back to school don't be surprised if your boss tries to talk you out of it. January 30: Full Moon today as described above. January 31: Retrograde Saturn squares Pluto today, an aspect that will be in effect on and off for several months. This is a hard aspect between two heavy-duty planets. Their influence is going to be working on your thoughts and ideas and how they clash with those things you're finding out at work. If you have a project you're working on, you may need to restructure you approach.
