Sign Ruler Mode Element House Aspect

Aries Mars Cardinal Fire 1st Signs are in square with both Cardinal Signs who like to be in charge. Both are represented by horned animals, so there's no telling which one has the harder head.
Capricorn Saturn Cardinal Earth 10th
What you like about each other:  Strong work ethics, decisive, Ram energy/Goat stability, Ram wit/Goat dry sense of humor.

What drives you crazy:  Trying to figure out who's in charge, full frontal attack versus more methodical tactics; too impulsive/too reserved, temper tantrums/emotional coolness, need for adventure/need for security.

These two signs are in square, all right, and they are probably about as different as two people can get, being as they both are a bit of an extreme in their own particular world.  Let's start with the fundamentals.  First of all, they're both Cardinal signs and represented by horned animals.  This should tell you something right there, perhaps enough to run, not walk, in the opposite direction.  Add to that their ruling planets, neither of which has a single friendly vibe associated with it.  Mars is energy and aggression while Saturn is delays, hard work, ambition, responsibility, and all sorts of other onerous stuff we won't go into here.  Then we have Fire and Earth, which are not exactly naturally compatible, either, at least not like Fire and Air or Earth and Water, explosions and quicksand notwithstanding. So what do these two see in each other in the first place?  Good question.

If these two meet when they're quite young, they probably won't even talk to one another. Aries will be considered impulsive, rash, and far too aggressive among other less complimentary traits while Cappy will be considered too serious, boring, and probably in need of a good...   Well, this is supposed to be a family website, so you know what I mean.  Aries loves a good challenge, but I don't think that would even come into play there. As always, compatible Ascendants and Moon Signs can work wonders, however, so I'm not going to say never. However, as time goes on and they mature, progress into different signs and learn a bit about life, then maybe something could develop between these two.  For one thing, there are definitely some complementary traits and if our Ram and Goat have learned anything as they've gotten older, it's that the other has some characteristics they'd do well to adopt.

This is where natural House placements may possibly have a bearing. Aries lives in the 1st House of drive and personality and Cappy in the 10th of community status and recognition.  Maybe a marginal similarity there, except Aries wants very personal attention and to be a hero, while the Goat wants recognition for accomplishments, which are slightly different.  However, as these two mature, they both realize that to get what they really want, whether its personal kudos or community standing, they may need to develop some different traits to get there.  And this is where they might be able to use the other as a mentor, as a start, at least.  These two could make very good business partners, provided they both understand their areas of expertise and where the boundaries are for their respective duties.

Aries has a strong sense of adventure and thrives on new experiences.  The goat, on the other hand, is happy to climb the same mountain day after day. It's important to find a joint activity that you both enjoy that will provide this stimulation, or it can cause trouble later. It's also important for the goat to realize that Aries as an archetype is all about new beginnings, and if things ever are too complicated in a relationship to hold a Ram's interest, they have no problem disappearing into the sunset in search of new conquests.

However, regardless of how their intellects blend, their communication styles will still not be in synch, particularly on emotional issues.  When the Ram gets mad (which is often) the volume goes up and this is when the Goat will head for the hills. Aries sees this as cowardice and gets angrier. Cappy sees this lack of control as cretin and probably won't want to talk about any of it. If they care enough about each other to work on this, then there's hope. And as always, compatible Ascendants and Moon Signs can work wonders, as well as Mercury in compatible signs, but it's going to be a challenge, regardless.  Fortunately, both Rams and Goats thrive on a good challenge.
