| NEW MOON This month's New Moon is in Aquarius, which really loads up that sign. The 8 planets besides Earth and the two luminaries, i.e. Sun and Moon, are what constitute the basis of Western Astrology, for a total of 10. Consider that six of them are hanging out in Aquarius for this lunation. Their placement around the zodiac is lopsided as well with only four signs occupied by one of these planets or luminaries. Aquarius represents the 11th house which includes such things as friends, associates, organizations, groups, networking, goals, hopes, wishes, and big gains. So what do you think a lot of energy in that domain might bring? At the most basic level it brings a lot of attention to groups. With Jupiter and Venus in close conjunction, it could bring an expansion of your social circle and/or increased interaction with others. As a New Moon, perhaps you'll get involved with a new group of some sort. Also consider that this huge bundle of cosmic energy is in a specific house of your chart as noted above. If you know your ascendant, then you should check that sign's horoscope as well. The implications are that this group activity will relate some how to that house. For example, in the 2nd house it could relate to taking care of yourself, i.e. your needs and pleasures. In the 3rd it could relate to getting together with your siblings or neighbors. In the 6th it could mean more meetings related to your job, etc. This sounds all nice and friendly, if you'll excuse the convoluted pun, but several of these are in a square from Mars in Taurus. Mars is in debility in Taurus, but that doesn't mean he's weak or taking a vacation. Rather, he operates more like a bulldozer. His usual impulsive inclinations are replaced with persistence. He is squaring the lunation as well as Mercury retrograde, which implies anything new you're trying to pursue will encounter resistance of some sort or may come to naught, mostly because anything started when Mercury is retrograde usually flops. On the other hand, if you're trying to use that retrograde energy to redo or reconsider, there may be a lot of resistance to that as well. Mars is sextile Neptune, which leans toward taking action based on too much idealism or perhaps deception. With Mars tying the New Moon, Mercury RX, and Neptune together the result could be taking ill-conceived action on something, which is not likely to turn out as expected. If, perchance, you're trying to undo something, you might have better luck, that may fare a little better, but resistance is still likely. Uranus and Saturn, both slow-movers, have been squared off for quite a while and that is going to continue until late summer. The "poster child," if you will, of this aspect is easily illustrated by a political climate where efforts to break free from the status quo and long-standing tradition are clashing. Both Aquarius and Taurus are fixed signs so it's not likely either is going to give in any time soon. MERCURY STATIONS DIRECT Mercury stations direct on 20 February. The Sun has gone into Pisces, but Saturn, Mercury, Jupiter, and Venus are still in Aquarius, fueling that group-oriented energy. Mercury is conjunct Saturn and thus joining him in squaring Uranus. Whatever has been reconsidered or reversed during the retrograde is likely to add fuel to the conflict. Mars is trining Pluto, suggesting a power play of some description, while his square with Venus doesn't bode well for relationships. Furthermore, Venus is semisextile Pluto, suggesting an annoyance or friction that is not in Uranus' favor. The Moon is in logical and data-oriented Gemini and squaring Neptune, perhaps calling him out on any deception or illusions. The Moon is conjunct the North Node, implying a significant change and new direction, which will be significant, expecially with Jupiter trining them. FULL MOON The Full Moon on 27 February is in Virgo. At this point Venus and the Sun have left Aquarius and are now in Pisces where he joins Neptune and the asteroid, Wuhan, which has revealed various interesting insights into the pandemic. Speaking of which, Wuhan is currently "at the bendings", which means it's forming a T-square with the lunar nodes. The lunar nodes are important and typically indicate an important change where one thing goes away to make room for something new. With Wuhan involved, we can always hope that this insidious COVID-19 debacle will soon come to an end. Jupiter is forming a triangle of potential with the nodes, which implies he will influence the outcome in a positive way. His semisextile to Wuhan suggests friction, which could indicate we may be free at last. Remember that semisextile can operate like a cloud with a silver lining. We can always hope. The Saturn - Uranus square, which already got hit by Mercury stationing the previous week, is getting some interference from the lunation as well. The Sun is extending an opportunity toward Uranus and irritating Saturn, but Pisces is an illusive sign that can't always be trusted. There's also the "silver lining" factor with this aspect as well. There are two aspect patterns involved, a triangle of potential and a course adjustment loop. The triangle of potential involves the sextile between Uranus and the Sun and a trine between Uranus and the Moon. A Full Moon tends to indicate an ending or shift to a new phase, so something is brewing. Looks as if a combination of inspiration and facts will influence whatever Uranus is trying to disrupt. The course adjustment loop involves the Moon, Saturn, and Uranus. The usual interpretation of this aspect pattern is that something isn't working until an adjustment or compromise is made. With the Moon in Virgo, this looks like a practical decision based on details that could bring some progress in this ongoing conflict.
