Review of Steven Forrest's "The Book Of Neptune"

"If you feel as if you've lost your footing, are sinking in quicksand or adrift on a large body of water with no land in sight, there's a good chance that Neptune is involved.  If that's the case, I can't recommend this book highly enough." --Whobeda
LUNATION SUMMARY
NEW MOON
(Brings something new into your life)
FULL MOON
(Ending, culmination, or shift to a new phase)
Date: 5 April 2019 Date: 19 April 2019
Position: 15:17 Aries (Strongest effects if your birthday is ~8 December) Position: 29:07 Libra (Strongest influence for those born ~21 December)
Natural House: 5th Natural House: 11th
Influences of the 5th house include your ego definition/self-image, children, romantic interests, entertainment, speculation, creativity, and self-expression. This lunation suggests something new coming into this part of your life.  It's therefore an excellent time to start a new endeavor that fits into one or more of those categories. This house is generally considered favorable and is sometimes referred to as the "Fun House." You may discover something new about yourself or see yourself in a new way. Influences of the 11th house include friends, groups, organizations, goals, networking, hopes and wishes. Some consider this to be the house of big gains. If you've felt stuck as far as your progress is concerned on a specific goal, this could bring an opportunity to move forward at last, finish something up, or be done with it entirely. If its message for you is to shift to a new phase, then it's an excellent month for getting out to meet new people, joining a new group, or getting back in touch with old friends.
This is going to be another interesting month. For starters, note that the Full Moon occurs in the same house as it did last month, giving it a double whammy. Again, it's an anaretic degree. Last month it was at 0 Libra, this time at 29 Libra. The first and last degrees are strong, but for slightly different reasons. Zero degrees is a major jump into a new sign and energy, which can bring a bit of a jolt. The 29th degree is strong because the Sun, Moon, planet, or whatever has been in the sign for a long time and accumulated a lot of that sign's energy, which is why there's such a big jolt when it goes into the next sign. Three outer planets go retrograde this month, after getting a rest for a while.

I don't know about you, but for me March's Mercury retrograde was one of the worst I'd ever experienced. It's station conjunct Neptune in Pisces, the sign where Mercury is in fall, brought some of the most messed up days I'd ever seen. Indeed there were days I felt as if I were being attacked by the kraken. The shadow lasts until 16 April and I, for one, will be celebrating when that is over. So let's see what's in store for April.

NEW MOON

The New Moon on 5 April is in Aries, the first sign of the zodiac and beginning of the cosmic year. There were some ingresses last month, i.e. the Sun went into Cardinal Aries marking an equinox, and Uranus entered Taurus while Mars went into Gemini on 1 April, which is going to stir up some action on your thoughts and ideas. Mercury is still miserable in Pisces and still conjunct his nemesis, Neptune, so clarity of thought remains elusive. Your energy, at least at the mental level, is likely to be a bit compromised as well. This certainly doesn't combine well with Mars in Gemini, who may be generated all sorts of motivation on things that you can't seem to get a grip on. The one thing Pisces has going for it, though, is being dreamy, visionary, and inspired, so if your thoughts are related to anything in that category, you might be okay. Mercury is getting some help from Saturn in Capricorn, which might help get them organized enough to develop a plan. Just don't let Mars convince you to jump the gun on anything until it has been adequately thought through. In other words, this combination could make you inclined to take action on any crazy thing that comes to mind, in other words going off half-cocked. On the positive side, Venus is in Pisces, sign of her exaltation until 21 April. This could bring some good to all that dreamy energy, perhaps shades of idealistic, unconditional love.

With the lunation squaring Saturn, even though the orb is rather wide, this could further promote impulsive action and discourage practicality. When the Sun is in Aries, impulsive action is common. It's usually riddled with nasty weather in the form of tornadoes as well as other types of violence. It's a time to celebrate the onset of spring but use a bit of caution, though there isn't a whole lot of cosmic help out there unless Mars in Gemini stops to think before taking action. More on Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto below since they station retrograde this month.

FULL MOON

As noted above, the Full Moon is in Libra two months in a row, both in anaretic degrees. Thus, the energy is hitting the same house twice. Anything you didn't finish up in March, this gives you another chance. Venus is still in Pisces for the event, forming a quincunx with the Moon, showing a change of direction. This is a rather nice emotional energy that could have a positive effect on personal relationships. The Sun in the last degree of Aries is trining Jupiter in dignity in Sagittarius, implying expansion, though Jupiter is retrograde by this time. Jupiter retrograde tends to focus on ethics issues, and there's certainly a target-rich environment for that these days. Jupiter is squaring Venus, which suggests a potential lack of compassion in these matters, which is more likely appropriate, depending on the circumstances.

Thank heaven by this time Mercury has gone into Aries. I suspect he's going to be in a rather bad mood and ready to roll after being nearly drowned out of existence during his sojourn in Pisces. He's semisextile Uranus, implying this could bring about some rebellion as well as all the confusion becomes clear. This looks like a variety of fiery arguments. Remember that semisextiles are those clouds with a silver lining, that with some effort put forth on your part can turn an annoyance to your advantage. Note there is a semisextile between the Sun and Venus as well, so if something really has your panties in a wad, try to place yourself in the other person's shoes and act as civilized as possible.

OTHER COSMIC EVENTS

Jupiter stations retrograde on 10 April. He's in dignity in Sagittarius, which he rules, so he's operating on all cylinders, even in reverse, and as noted above, he's going to focus on ethics issues. His opposition to the Moon in Gemini implies a balance between facts and their philosophical implications. The trine to the Sun in Aries suggests the full light of day and definitive action on these matters. The Moon's quincunx to Pluto suggests a change of course based on previously hidden and possibly corrupt information coming to light that has a huge emotional impact. The Sun is squaring Saturn, which is a big power play with the Sun exalted in Aries and Saturn in dignity in his home base of Capricorn. Saturn represents authority figures and hey are likely to be in conflict with some of these actions. Pluto, the planet that represents power and control, is also squaring the Sun, so those two big boys are tromping on the Sun as it tries to draw arguments from Jupiter that may or may not have validity. The T-square, which tends to represent significant tension, is formed by Mercury who is squaring both Jupiter and the Moon. Mercury is still in Pisces at this time, suggesting this information is likely to be confusing, cloudy, or downright deceptive. This looks like quite a pig's breakfast all around, so brace yourselves. Venus is conjunct Neptune, a very idealistic combination trying to mediate what otherwise looks like a rather fiery time.

Pluto stations 24 April in Capricorn. He has been there a while and isn't leaving for a while, especially with this retrograde. He's in a semisextile to Jupiter, which was noted above, showing friction between power and control issues and philosophical or ethical matters. Another big surprise, right? The Moon is in Capricorn, making her cold and practical, and she's squaring Mercury in Aries, which tends to be argumentative. This implies that no matter how much noise you make, no one will be impressed, at least the one who can do anything about the issue.  Venus has gone into Aries, where she's nothing like she was in Pisces. If anything, she'll be somewhat aggressive and vocal about what she wants and her sextile with the Taurus Sun means she won't give up very easily. Mars in Gemini is still wanting to take action on ideas and information but his square with Neptune is going to muddy that up a bit, as if we didn't have enough confusion the past month or so.

Saturn station 29 April, so in three weeks time we have three outer stations to contend with. Saturn is conjunct the Lunar South Node, which throws some interesting possibilities in the mix. The South Node tends to represent your comfort zone, which you need to leave behind to reach for your higher self. Saturn representing authority figures being stuck doesn't sound much like progress. Saturn is quincunx Mars in Gemini, implying the need for an adjustment or perhaps this will be a Catch-22. This quincunx is part of a closed loop aspect that also involves a sextile between Mars and Mercury, implying a loud argument based on facts, but the square from Mercury back to Saturn doesn't show much hope of it being accepted. Mercury is also squaring Pluto, so these arguments are also hitting a wall there as well. Meanwhile, Neptune is still squaring Mars adding to the confusion. Considering the political scene of late, it looks like there's going to be plenty of fireworks. Keep the popcorn on hand and remember that politics and religion are verboten subjects for a reason.
