Lunations and Long-Term Aspects

This month's New Moon on December 13 is in Sagittarius, your 6th house of work, service, health and pets.  This suggests something new coming your way in this part of your life as well as an excellent time to start a new endeavor in one of these areas.  Mercury is also in this sign which will help facilitate the thought process, data gathering and communications.  Mercury is opposing Jupiter which is in debility in Gemini but this is somewhat mitigated by being in mutual reception with Mercury, a condition that comes about when two planets are in the sign the other rules, creating a correspondence between them.  In this case they are both in debility but the reception will help smooth out any of the problems associated with that.  Gemini is your 12th house of imagination, dreams, spirituality, visions, enlightenment, collective consciousness, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  Jupiter is also retrograde which internalizes his philosophical energy and often turns toward issues related to ethics.  With Mercury in your house of work and service, this suggests there may be something going on there that deserves consideration.

Jupiter is also a component in the one major aspect associated with this lunation, a yod that began last month with the lunar eclipse.  This aspect pattern will persist until around the end of December, giving you some time to sort things out.  Jupiter in Gemini is great for data gathering, though sometimes this results in too much information.  Thus, if you feel somewhat bombarded this could be the reason.  In your 12th house this could also feel as if your intuition is being bombarded.  Jupiter is at the point or eye of the yod which can represent the end result or in other cases what kicks off the sextile at the base, an aspect that often indicates an opportunity.  It could go either way so bear that in mind that the sequence of events could begin or end with Jupiter in your house of spirituality, etc.

The base of the yod comprises Saturn in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio and Pluto in polar sign, Capricorn.  This yod is a bit sloppy with the New Moon in that the planets aren't lined up exactly but all three will be in the same degree of their respective signs on that infamous date we've heard so much about lately, i.e. 21 December 2012, the date when the Mayan long-count calendar supposedly ends.  So I'm going to diverge for a moment and talk about that a bit since it has gotten so much attention.  This chart (shown below) has none of the expected aspects for an apocalyptic event.  There's potential for a consciousness change or revelation, but it certainly doesn't look too ominous.  I've seen much worse charts for hurricanes and tornadoes, so if a massive solar flare or asteroid strike is imminent it doesn't show up in this chart.  This is not to say that won't happen eventually, only that it doesn't look as if that's what's in store at this time.

So, back to the New Moon and what to watch for this month.  Working with Jupiter one way or another are Saturn and Pluto, as noted above.  Saturn is in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Saturn isn't exactly a happy-go-lucky fellow which is rather obvious when you consider he's sometimes referred to as the lord of karma.  He is also related to responsibility, boundaries, delays, structure and authority figures.  His presence in this house could deliver a measure of seriousness to this house which may not be any more than hard work on a creative endeavor, taking a serious look at responsibility with regard to children or romance or something along those lines.

Pluto a sextile away in Capricorn, your polar sign and 7th house of relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals and competitors, could be stirring things up a bit in this part of your life.  Pluto and Saturn are in mutual reception as well further tying together your 5th and 7th houses which could relate to a romantic interest moving to the next level (and possibly a karmic relationship at that), a balance of responsibility in taking care of the kids, or perhaps finding a business partner to promote that creative endeavor you've been working on.  Pluto in the 7th can also bring out the need to transform a relationship or even give someone in your life the boot who is not longer serving a positive purpose in your life.  You might encounter a few surprises at work but don't necessarily believe everything you hear, either, without confirmation.

The Full Moon on December 28 continues the above described yod until the end of the month so those energies are still in force.  The three planets involved are all outer planets which move rather slowly, thus keeping it in place longer than many others.  This also suggests this to be not a single event but a process.  The Full Moon occurs in your sign and is on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around June 29.  With the Sun in Capricorn and edging in with the yod he could help illuminate any relationship issues that need attention and may relate to the yod's message.

Mars and Neptune are both unaspected.  Mars is currently in Aquarius, your 8th house, which bears watching since it can sometimes predispose you to accidents.  Be careful around anything that represents a hazard of any description and avoid unnecessary chances.  Neptune is in your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, legal matters, higher learning, religion, politics, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation, bringing his dreamy energy to this part of your life, especially in Pisces where he's quite at home as its ruler.  This could bring some inspirational experiences in this part of your life as well as new insights into your beliefs.
