Lunations and Long Term Aspects

The New Moon this month on December 13 is in fellow Fire Sign, Sagittarius, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, religion, higher learning, politics, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation.  If your birthday is right around April 11 this lunation will trine your natal Sun and thus have a bit more personal impact.  This is a favorable time to start a new endeavor in one of these areas, particularly with Mercury also hanging out in Sag, promoting thoughts, ideas and communications about such things.  Jupiter, Sag's ruler, is in opposing sign, Gemini, where his debility is slightly mitigated by being in mutual reception with Mercury, which occurs when two planets are in the sign the other rules, allowing their energies to be synergistic.  Jupiter in Gemini will allow you to gather lots of information while Mercury will help you assess it at a higher level than mere thought.  Bear in mind that thoughts not only become things but ultimately congeal into opinions, thus illustrating the flow from the 3rd house of thoughts to the 9th that comprises your view of life.

One of the yods that began last month and was described in your November horo, i.e. the one comprising Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto, is more active than other though the planets forming conjunctions with Pluto and Saturn have since moved on.  All three planets in this yod will be in the same degree of their respective signs on no other date than the infamous December 21, 2012, day of the Winter Solstice or, in astrologese, the Capricorn Ingress.  There has certainly been enough discussion of this date with respect to being the end of the Mayan calendar with all sorts of apocalyptic predictions associated with it.  One would expect that if such were going to be the case then the chart for that day would reflect it, but quite honestly I have seen much worse charts for tornadoes and hurricanes than this one, shown below.

The general theme of the ingress chart appears to be more applicable to some sort of revelation or influx of information which, admittedly, could be transformational in nature, but doesn't appear to be world destruction.

Back to the New Moon and that persistent yod, which is going to last until roughly the end of December, bear in mind that such a long-lasting aspect pattern does not typically show results immediately.  Jupiter at the eye, as noted earlier, is in Gemini, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  Jupiter's expansive nature suggests that you may be overwhelmed with a preponderance of something originating in this house, but Jupiter being retrograde also implies a certain degree of internalization of this information, perhaps even a minor crisis of understanding or sorting through events and data which could have an ethical spin.

Pluto and Saturn in sextile at the base, an aspect that often indicates an opportunity or at the least a compatible correspondence of energies, will be pushing you toward this evolution of thought.  This is not necessarily a big deal so when looking for its affect in your life don't neglect the little things while remembering the old adage "great oaks from little acorns grow."  Saturn is in Scorpio, your 8th house of transformations, intense experiences, unresolved or issues you've not confronted, sex, death and rebirth, debt, inheritances and so forth.  Saturn, which is sometimes referred to as the lord of karma, may be dredging up something from your past which needs attention.

Pluto, modern ruler of Scorpio, is in Capricorn so again we have two planets in mutual reception, making this sextile even stronger as these two planets with rather serious natures work together.  Capricorn is your 10th house of career, public image, reputation, and status and also relates to such things as authority figures.  If you've been a rebel at heart, which wouldn't be especially unusual for an Aries, this may give you a new view of such people in your life.  New information or understanding may come your way which will change your thinking in some way.  A trine connecting Uranus, planet of surprises, freedom, disturbances and innovation with Mercury could be the trigger for this, which could be an event or situation or perhaps simply a brainstorm or sudden flash of understanding.  Make sure you're not imagining things, however, because it's possible you may not be seeing things clearly or, another possibility, is that you will resist this information and not want to believe it.  There's enough energy in the mental houses to harness, however, so that you can get the facts together and process them in an appropriate way.

The Full Moon on December 28 is in Cancer and if your birthday is right around March 28 you are most likely to notice this lunation.  The yod is still in effect and if you haven't figured it out by this time the Sun's presence in Capricorn is likely to help illuminate the issue, which could be related to your home life, memories or cultural roots in some way.  It may also simply be a time for a significant change and beginning a new cycle.  With this occurring a few days after the Christmas holidays perhaps old memories of times past or interactions with family, past or present, good or bad, will be the catalyst for new perspectives.
