The 6th House Diet

Find easy substitutes for when you're too tired to cook, e.g. soup and salad, low calorie frozen dinners, ingredients for low fat veggie wraps, etc. 

Replace your favorite no-no foods with healthy substitutes.  For example, if you have a sweet tooth eat a bowl of fresh fruit topped with a dab of yogurt.  If you like salty snacks, try those mini-bags of microwave popcorn.

Being too extreme in what you allow yourself to eat and eventually falling off the health food wagon.

Being too strict about exercise and either getting bored or burning yourself out.

Capricorn:  Practical, sensible and disciplined.

Virgo:  Attention to detail comes naturally as well as interest in good health and nutrition.

Cancer:  This is a diet where the entire family can eat the same food and be better off for it.

Pisces:  Comfortable with self-denial.

If you're dieting because you're a perfectionist about your appearance or because you're concerned about your health, these both relate to the 6th House.  The 6th House rules our work ethic, health and pets and is the throne of perceived inadequacies and self-flagellation for personal imperfections.  If this is where you're coming from you'll want to initiate your diet when there is significant astrological activity in your Natal or Natural 6th House.  Your Natal 6th House depends on what time you were born and is shown on your Natal Chart.  If you don't have one and are too cheap to buy one, then you can get some help from your Natural House, which you can determine from the chart at the bottom of the page.

Fad diets may give you a jump-start, but obviously keeping the weight off once you get to your goal weight requires permanent changes to the eating and exercise habits that made you store all that fat in the first place.  The good news is that approaching your diet through this House has the highest likelihood of success.

Personality traits related to the 6th House are also reflected in the Sun Sign, Virgo.  As we all know discipline, details and determination are all required to change your eating habits, initiate an exercise regimen and then stick to it religiously enough to shed those pounds.  All of these traits are related to the 6th House and will help pay attention to those details that can make a difference, e.g. keeping a list of everything you eat, counting calories/carbs/fat grams and to track your weight.

*Be aware that some aspects may actually be contrary to losing weight, especially if they involve Venus or Neptune, which can make you lazy or delusional respectively.  This pair is likely to make you think you can take off that flab by eating nothing but chocolate as long as you watch Oprah everyday.  Currently Neptune is in Aquarius, which doesn't bode well for Virgos.  To overcome this particular problem, try using the good feelings these planets emanate to visualize yourself the way you'd like to be when you lose that weight and then use your Virgo detail-oriented, critical attitude to stick to your diet and exercise regimen as if your life depended on it. Since Venus moves fairly quickly and doesn't stay in any sign too long (except when retrograde, in which case she could be there roughly four months, give or take) she shouldn't be too much of a problem, especially in the 6th House since the love goddess may help you love yourself a little more and thus help motivate you to mind your health and fitness.
