Sign Ruler Mode Element House Aspect

Cancer Moon Cardinal Water 4th Signs are quincunx, which suggests the need for adjustments. Their modes are somewhat compatible, but elements aren't.
Sagittarius Jupiter Mutable Fire 9th
What you like about each other:  Cancer emotional warmth and security, Sag philosophical depths, aspirations and curiosity.

What drives you crazy:  Cancer lack of interest in worldly pursuits, Sag boredom with mundane challenges and daily issues.

This is a somewhat unlikely pair. As I pondered possible couples I've known that might fit this sign pattern, one came to mind far too easily. At first I rejected it, but as I thought about it further I realized that my astrological intuition is better sometimes than I give it credit for. Most of you probably know these two as well as I do. I assure you that I have no insider knowledge that these signs are correct, but the characters seems to fit. And that couple is Al and Peg Bundy.

Think about it. Picture a Cancer who has many moods, is very wrapped up in her family, particularly her children, and is really not that unhappy with the way life is. Then picture a Sag who had great aspirations once in life, almost reached the pinnacle one time in that high school football game, then circumstances intervened and took it all away. I'm not going to elaborate any further on this infamous couple since you're either familiar with them or you're not. If you are, no further explanation is necessary; if you're not, no explanation is sufficient. Suffice it to say that the Bundy family would fit the description of "No life is ever wasted. You can always serve as a bad example."

So that's the bad news. Let's ponder how things may have turned out differently. Let's assume that Al got that football scholarship and went to college. Peg encouraged him and waited faithfully while he took six years to finish his degree in geography. After graduation, they married and for their honeymoon traveled to Europe, where they both became enchanted with Italy. They extended their stay so Peg could do some shopping in Rome. One thing led to another and by the time they returned to the good ol' USA, Al had exclusive rights to an Italian shoe distributorship. They returned home, opened up their first store, and then Al proceeded to open up additional ones across the continental United States. He loved the work because it always reminded him of their honeymoon, so he continued to run his original store, taking trips abroad several times a year to line up new product. He and Peg had two wonderful children who grew up in a jet set environment centered around the Italian fashion industry. Kelly went on to be an international model and Bud eventually took over the family business when Al retired.

And there you have what is known as an alternative ending. While it certainly fits more of the Cancer/Sag coupling you'd expect, it really isn't that far removed from the sitcom we watched for years, lamenting Al's predicament. The irony lies in the fact that in both scenarios he was a shoe salesman, but in the latter he got to fulfill his Sagittarian aspirations. The moral to this story is that if a Sag has to settle for less than he thinks he's worth, it is not a pretty sight. While a Crab may be happy with humble surroundings, a Sag probably won't be. So it's up to the Crab to use all its inherent nurturing skills to get that Sag where s/he needs to go. That done, they can both live happily ever after.
