Lunations and Other Cosmic Events

The first cosmic event this month is Saturn stationing direct on 2 August.  He stationed RX in your sign last March at 4:55 Sagittarius and has since backed into Scorpio from whence he came.  If your birthday is right around November 27 he stationed conjunct your natal Sun, which is usually a less than joyful experience.  Saturn is pretty-much the astrological wet blanket, oozing with responsibility, obligations and authority.  When he's doing the backstroke things often slow to a crawl as they encounter boundaries, delays and obstacles.  Considering that Saturn is the natural ruler of governments and corporations as well as authority figures, his retrograde periods which last about five months each year somewhat explain the pace at which these entities move.  Thus, things should start to move a bit better but it's also time to figure out what his message was this go-round.  Typically while RX Saturn operates at the subconscious level, stirring up something that needs to be restructured in some way.  Since he stations direct at 28:17 Scorpio, your 12th house of spirituality, enlightenment, dreams, visions, your subconscious mind, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing, that house and its matters will be involved along with something at the personal level.  For example, perhaps you've been thinking about breaking a bad habit but don't quite know why you fell into it in the first place.  Unless you uncover its origin, being rid of it permanently is less likely. 

The station direct chart has a couple obstacles in the way worth identifying.  Fellow Fire Sign, Leo, is loaded with planets including the Sun, Mercury, Jupiter and Venus retrograde.  The latter two are squaring Saturn but the good news is that if your birthday is right around December 20 they are also trining your natal Sun which will help you overcome them.  Leo is your 9th house which includes beliefs, expectations, philosophy of life, higher learning, legal matters, other cultures, and long-distance travel.  This is the house which Sag rules zodiacally and thus one for which you have a strong affinity.  Jupiter in this neighborhood encourages you to expand your horizons, be optimistic and philosophical, though this is not usually as easy when something is hitting you at the personal level.  Nonetheless, it's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. 

Venus has been retrograde since July 25 which is a time when your values and needs are often emphasized.  She rules your 11th house of friends, goals, hopes, wishes, networking, groups and organizations as well as your 6th house of work, service, health and pets.  These are thus also areas to examine in this context.  First look at your goals and determine what you're willing to give up to attain them and whether it will ultimately be worth it.  Mars is in your 8th house of transformations and giving Saturn an extra nudge, which should be useful.  Fortunately he'll be leaving Cancer on August 9.  Why is this fortunate?  Because Mars in the 8th can sometimes predispose people to taking unnecessary chances or encountering accidents.  Uranus in your 5th is trining Mercury which suggests some help being authentic and original and not trying to follow someone else's mold which simply doesn't fit.  An inspired new beginning is possible which may take you in a slightly different direction as you look a little deeper or farther into your belief system and adjust it accordingly.

The New Moon on 14 August is in Leo, bringing the energy of a new beginning or new outlook which fits in nicely with Saturn's admonition.  If your birthday is right around December 14 it will trine your natal Sun for a little extra influence.  Uranus in your 5th of creativity, ego definition, children, romance, entertainment and speculation continues to help you break free from paradigms that don't fit as your view on life moves in a slightly new direction.  Venus is still retrograde so analyzing your belief system for what you value is still a work in progress.  Jupiter and Mercury have slid into Virgo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and reputation.  This implies expansion is coming in this part of your life with new information coming your way that could potentially transform your financial situation.  Make sure you're seeing things clearly, however, because confusion or illusions are possible.

The Full Moon on 29 August is in fellow Mutable Sign, Pisces, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings.  This type of lunation usually brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  The Moon is conjunct Neptune and the Sun conjunct Jupiter, which suggests the need to balance optimism and your dreams in a practical manner.  Information or advice from a friend may be irritating at first but deserves consideration.  Venus, who's still retrograde, is conjunct Mars, both in Leo, your 9th house of beliefs and expectations and all those other things noted earlier.  Mars rules your 5th of creativity and traditionally your 12th of the subconscious while Venus rules your house of friends and goals and your 6th of work and health.  This suggests an assessment is needed of your expectations of these areas as well as any relationships involved.  Take a close look at your needs and any adjustments that might be called for to balance all these factors into a more comfortable range.
