Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first astrological event worth noting this month is that once again Mercury will station retrograde, an event to which many of look forward with about as much joy as a root canal.  This occurs in fellow Water Sign, Scorpio, your 9th house which includes your philosophy of life, beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, general socialization, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation as well as such things as politics and religion, which of course are a subset to your beliefs.  Nonetheless, these are how you interact with the world around you along with your opinion and attitude.  Mercury RX is a time to rethink, redo and reconsider so direct these energies toward this part of your life.  The station will trine your natal Sun if your birthday is right around February 21, making its effect stronger. As always bear in mind that purchasing something that is electronic or mechanical should be avoided during this time.  Whenever you acquire something that moment has a horoscope and if Mercury is RX it's likely you're going to rethink it later.  Endeavors or projects started at this time often never come to fruition and if you happen to have a job interview during this time it's unlikely it will pan out, either.  This unfortunate state of affairs is in effect until at least October 25 with the shadow, i.e. the time while Mercury catches up to the point he went RX, lasting until November 11, which would be a better time to move forward.

Meanwhile, use this RX time as it's intended.  Mercury is trining Neptune, your modern sign ruler, suggesting insights and inspiration you may have missed before.  Take a close look at your view of the world and your expectations along with any disappointments you may have suffered for not seeing things clearly.  Pisces tends to be idealistic but our world seldom fits that description and this is where you have to live, at least for now.  There's a Grand Fire Trine in effect for roughly the first ten days of the month which can provide a lot of energy.  Mars is in Sagittarius, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status throwing a lot of drive in that direction.  Uranus in Aries, your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures, could bring some instability and surprises in this area which will in turn fire up your career ambitions.  The final party in the Grand Trine is Jupiter in Leo, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets, so you can see that all these houses seem to point toward work.  Jupiter tends to expand what he touches which of course implies lots of work.  Uranus could make it hectic.  This could even be too much of a good thing but it looks busy at the least.  Challenges lie in wait as well, perhaps additional responsibility to assume that you rather not have.  Find as much time to ponder your situation as possible to seek meaning and what the lesson is so you can learn and adapt as the Universe intends.

The Full Moon on October 8 is also a Lunar Eclipse, making its effect stronger and longer lasting.  It occurs in Aries, your 2nd house as defined above, which is where to look first for its influence. The Grand Fire Trine is still in effect so between Mercury RX and this eclipse you can expect something to be going on in this part of your life.  The lunation's position lines it up with the Grand Trine giving it extra influence with the eclipsed Moon conjunct Uranus, suggesting some surprises, and the Sun just upstream from Venus but forming a sextile pattern with Jupiter and Mars which suggests a transformational opportunity to watch for.  Pluto in your 11th house of friends, groups and goals is in a somewhat sloppy T-square suggesting the need to eliminate some activities from this part of your life which may not be easy yet required due to the increase in activity elsewhere.

The New Moon on October 23 is, you guessed it, a Solar Eclipse, which also occurs in Scorpio where Mercury stationed on October 4.  The eclipse is conjunct Venus, your exalted sign ruler, which could bring you some help.  Remember this is your 9th house of beliefs and so forth.  Saturn is in that sign as well bringing responsibility, boundaries and limitations.  Jupiter has moved into a square with Saturn, increasing this effect from your 6th house of work.  The Grand Fire Trine is gone but that doesn't mean its effects are, you may still be dealing with whatever it spawned.  Mercury RX is opposing Uranus, suggesting some sudden breakthroughs of a transformational nature which may involve your finances.  An expansion of your work opportunities, however, may be the way to navigate your way through any choppy waters.  This eclipse will be visible along the path you can see in this map.

Those of you born around February 23 - 24 have transiting Neptune on your natal Sun.  This can be a somewhat trying time, which has been in effect for a while since Neptune is another slow mover.  Trying to be focused rather than dreamy could be a challenge and a general lack of ambition is common as well.  Neptune is all about excursions to Fantasyland and this lunation and eclipse is emphasizing that even more.  This is not all bad even if it's distracting, however, because escaping a harsh reality, at least occasionally, may be necessary to maintain your mental and physical health.  The 9th house where all this activity is occurring also includes long-distance travel so this could be an excellent time to get away, clear your head from life's trials and gain a new perspective.

Mercury stations direct on October 25 but remember the shadow period before you jump on anything too quickly.  The Moon is conjunct Saturn with both squaring Jupiter at this time, suggesting the need to change some of your attitudes about work responsibilities.  The Sun and Venus are conjunct and trining Neptune, suggesting you can access some inspiration which can bring a nice dose of optimism in spite of circumstances that may be difficult.  Taking on more responsibility may be a challenge but it's likely to also bring some solutions.
