The first cosmic event of note this month is Mercury stationing retrograde on October 4.  This occurs in fellow Fixed Sign, Scorpio, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, so look to this part of your life to see any effects.  If your birthday is right around July 25 this station will square your natal Sun and probably have a stronger influence.  Mercury RX is a time to rethink, redo, reconsider, rework and so forth.  It's not a time to move forward, it's a time to look back and rectify anything that went astray.  Mercury rules such things as communications, electronics and mechanical objects which often don't function properly during this time.  This includes the internet, your cell phone, automobile and plain old communications since your brain not be playing with a full deck, either.  While those devices may tend to break down during this time, repairs and maintenance are okay but don't buy a new one.  Whenever you acquire a new item it has a "birthchart" that captures the moment and if it's contrary to optimum operation then you'll have a device, or heaven forbid, a car, that's a real lemon.  Rent if you have to, but don't buy.  While the RX period ends on October 25 that doesn't mean you're out of the woods just yet.  It's better than when he's retrograde but until he gets back to where he threw it in reverse, which will be November 11, you're operating in what's known as the "shadow period" and iffy at best.  So consider yourself warned.

Also coming into its own during this same time is a Grand Fire Trine which will last for about the first week of the month plus a few days.  This is a lot of energy but don't forget that Mercury is telling you to hold off on starting anything just yet.  You have homework to do first.  Thus, ideas that come may be reversed later unless you're rethinking as noted earlier.  Since Leo is a Fire Sign you'll have a particular interest in this Grand Trine.  Jupiter is in your sign and on your natal Sun if your birthday is right around August 9.  If this is you then this Grand Trine is going to have a stronger influence.  Jupiter is all about expansion and exaggeration which could inflate your ego, which is not always a good thing.  It's great if you're feeling good about yourself and feel omniscient but bear in mind the rest of the world is not likely to see you that way.  Mars is in Sagittarius, your 5th house of creativity, children, romance, ego definition, entertainment and speculation.  Mars is all about taking action, but remember that need to wait for a while until you get your ducks in a row. 

The third component is Uranus in Aries, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, long-distance travel, relocation, philosophy of life, religion, politics and so forth.  Uranus is a quirky, unpredictable planet which can really stir things up.  He causes surprises, rebellion, disruptions, explosions, breakthroughs and is innovative and original as well.  This placement could cause you to break away from old beliefs or adopt new ones which are off-the-wall.  The combination of this trio in your house of personality, ego, and beliefs is likely to stir up a whole lot of activity.  Just remember that as this occurs that Mercury is retrograde which suggests rethinking or even redoing anything that may fit this description as opposed to starting something new.  If you don't already know what this might be then do the mix and match routine of the different things contained in those three houses and see if anything sounds familiar.

Now it gets even better.  On October 8 the Full Moon is also a Lunar Eclipse, which has a stronger impact and more staying power than the usual lunation.  If your birthday is around August 8 this could bring something rather significant your way.  The eclipse itself is conjunct Uranus, firing up his energy even more, with the Sun opposing him.  The Grand Fire Trine is still in effect so all that energy is given a boost as well.  Mercury is trining Neptune which offers easy access to inspiration and insight so use it if needed.  Pay attention to your thoughts and ideas because what comes to mind at this time is likely to be important.

On October 23 the New Moon is a Solar Eclipse.  It's only a partial eclipse but visible across several areas of the USA which you can see in the eclipse map shown here.  It occurs in Scorpio, the same sign where Mercury went retrograde, i.e. your 4th house of home environment, endings and new beginnings.  With the Sun, Moon, Venus and Saturn in that venue there's a lot of energy to deal with.  Neptune is still willing to help with insights, though.  The Grand Trine is gone, but only sorta, since it was zapped by the Lunar Eclipse which as noted can make the effects linger.  Mercury RX is currently in Libra, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors, so be rethinking something related to this part of your life.  Or perhaps a sibling or neighbor can help you rethink something.

Mercury stations direct on October 25 but remember the shadow period is in effect until November 11.  There's a lot going on this month which will have the most impact on those with the birthdates noted.  The rest of you may not see it as clearly but that energy is out there so use it the best you can.
