The first astrological event worth noting this month is Mercury stationing retrograde on October 4.  This occurs in Scorpio, your 11th house of friends, networking, groups, associations, goals, hopes and wishes which suggests redoing or rethinking something in this part of your life.  Of course this is not the time to begin a new endeavor but rather to reconsider or rework something which may not be turning out as planned.  This is a time to go back to the drawing board, learn from your mistakes and rectify them.  Opportunities lie in this action, particularly if your birthday is right around December 24.  Eventually Mercury backs up into Libra, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status, bringing that same type of energy to that area as well, suggesting you revisit something in that part of your life as well. 

At this time a Grand Fire Trine is in effect which will last until approximately October 11.  This includes Mars in your 12th house of angels and demons which includes spirituality, enlightenment, inspiration, seclusion, confinement, institutions, the collective consciousness, your subconscious mind, hidden enemies and self-defeating behaviors.  Mars is all about action and energy and may not quite know what to do in this area.  It could possibly even bring attacks from hidden enemies though it can also be a time to take a close look at other matters included in this house.  Bear in mind that Mercury is retrograde so the rethinking energy is involved as well.  This could bring a nudge at the subconscious level to redo or reassess something you've been ignoring. 

Uranus is Aries, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings could be stirring things up in this part of your life and making it hectic and unpredictable.  This will last for a while so unfortunately you need to get used to it.  As someone who is generally organized and likes to plan ahead, this can be a major annoyance but there is something to be learned from it with regard to spontaneity.  The third component of this trio is Jupiter in Leo, your 8th house of transformations, shared resources, sex, death and rebirth, debt, intense experiences and things you suppress.  Putting these together suggests a personal transformation or important event which takes you in a new direction based on something that may be triggered in your subconscious.  With Mercury retrograde this is likely to involve something already in-work or is being redone.  Maybe it's time to go back and gather together what you need to pursue an old goal you set aside a while back. 

This Grand Trine may actually last a little longer due to the fact it's also included in the Full Moon on October 8 which is also a lunar eclipse, which increases its staying power.  Eclipses can remain in effect for quite a while, even on the order of months.  In weird cases, sometimes eclipse triggered events even occur before.  This one definitely interacts with the Grand Fire Trine with the eclipsed Moon conjunct Uranus with the Sun opposing it.  If your birthday is right around January 6 this eclipse forms a T-square with your natal Sun making it more likely that you'll notice definite effects.  The Sun forms a sextile pattern with Mars and Jupiter, bringing opportunities to bear.  Inspiration is out there to assist with whatever is going on and any rethinking, re-planning or revising may be involved.  Jupiter is squaring Saturn, your sign ruler, who has been in Scorpio for a while and helping you work hard toward your goals and aspirations.  With Jupiter in your house of transformations this suggests more responsibility or perhaps more hard work, but if you're a typical Cappy you thrive on work so while this may be a challenge, it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Those of you born right around January 2 currently have Pluto conjunct your natal Sun.  This can be a rather heavy transit which I've talked about before and am familiar with since I went through this a few years ago.  If you're struggling with it I recommend Bil Tierney's book "Alive and Well with Pluto."  In my blog section I also have something I wrote during that time which may provide some insights;  you can find it here.  It's quite metaphorical but sometimes they can operate at the subconscious level most effectively.  All I can say is been there, done that, got the T-shirt, and am better off now than before and it's likely when Pluto is done with you that you'll be able to say the same.

The New Moon on October 23 is also a solar eclipse.  It's only a partial eclipse but can be seen according to the path shown on the map you can find here in our eclipse map section (fancy that.)  This is happening in Scorpio, your 11th house of friends, groups and goals as defined earlier.  Saturn and Venus are there as well; in fact, Venus is snuggled right in there with the Sun and Moon.  She's not exactly at her best in Scorpio since it's the sign of her debility.  She can be overly passionate, jealous, perhaps obsessive and possessive.  Maybe being tenacious is exactly what you need; you decide.  This eclipse trio is trining Neptune in Pisces, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors, and local travel which should bring a nice dose of inspiration.  Mercury is STILL retrograde but will station direct only two days hence, on October 25.  Mercury stations direct squaring your Sun if your birthday is right around January 7, suggesting you look hard at ideas and information related to your career and status.  Having the courage to step forward and make some changes, even big ones, is favored as your answer, just in case you're wondering.  When Mercury stations the Moon is conjunct Saturn, throwing some emotional commitment in there to achieve what you want, even if this is the nth time you've gone after it.  It's likely to be a challenge, involve more work, yet ultimately be totally worth it.
