Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The first notable cosmic event this month is Mercury stationing retrograde on October 4.  As you may already be aware this can be a frustrating time if you try to resist the prevailing energy which is to rethink, redo, reconsider, revise, re-plan, edit and so forth.  In other words, don't try to move forward but instead turn around and fix anything that you may have messed up the first time.  Don't buy anything that is electronic, mechanical or related to communications during this time which lasts until at least October 25 with it better to wait until November 11 or later which is when Mercury finally gets back to where he threw it in reverse.  These things are ruled by Mercury and while they're prone to breaking down during this time it is definitely NOT the time to replace them.  Repairs and maintenance are okay and suitable activities but buying a replacement is a bad idea unless you want it to be a lemon.

If your birthday is right around June 24 the station trines your natal Sun, giving it more impact.  The station occurs in Scorpio, your 5th house of creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation as well as ego definition.  Thus, look to this part of your life if you're wondering what you should be rethinking.  Mercury eventually backs ups into Libra, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, bringing this to the table for reconsideration in some way as well.  This is not a favorable time to begin a new endeavor, rather a time to clean up, change, perfect or modify existing ones.

During the first week or so of the month there is also a Grand Fire Trine in effect.  This involves Uranus in Aries, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status; Jupiter in Leo, your 2nd house of income, finances, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures; and Mars in Sagittarius, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets.  This constitutes a lot of energy being exchanged in these areas and could also provide a few hints on what Mercury has in mind for redoing or revising.  Since these houses all relate to work in one way or another that is the first place you may want to look.  Uranus in your 10th is a time when breaking away from your current career or status is likely to occur.  Jupiter in your 2nd house certainly implies increasing your income and Mars in Sagittarius, your house of work, suggests taking action in that department.  However, don't forget that Mercury is retrograde so this is the time to think about your current plan and decide if it's suitable or not.  It's not the time to take action.  If you do there's a fairly high probability that you will be retracing your steps later or that it will be an exercise in futility.

Now consider that on October 8 while this Grand Trine is in full bloom, there's a Full Moon which is also a Lunar Eclipse which further emphasizes it.  The eclipsed Moon is conjunct Uranus with the Sun opposing it.  If your birthday is right around July 7 you are more likely to feel this since it forms a T-square with your natal Sun.  Eclipses have a lot more strength and staying power than the usual lunation.  Thus, you may not see this immediately.  The Sun is forming a sextile pattern with Jupiter and Mars, further enhancing the Grand Trine with some opportunities which relate to home or a new beginning.  Actually, Full Moons and Lunar Eclipses can also bring an ending so that is what to consider at this point since starting out on something new with Mercury doing the backstroke is ill-advised.

If you're totally confused the good news is that Mercury is trining Neptune in your 9th house of higher learning, philosophy of life, beliefs, expectations, long distance travel, other cultures and relocation which can help bring some inspiration your way, perhaps as you delve into your current belief system and see if it still fits where you are in life at this time.  Sometimes you may tend to drag along old beliefs which no longer apply such as those that may have been imposed on you as a child but life has shown don't apply to you or how you see life at this point.  Unless you are deliriously happy with the status quo it will be worth your time to give due thought and consideration to these things.  If you are entirely satisfied then you might want to give some thought to how you got there and show appropriate gratitude for the fact you accomplished what you did.

The New Moon on October 23 is a Solar Eclipse that occurs in Scorpio, your 5th house as described earlier which includes romance and children.  Venus is conjunct the eclipse, throwing her energy in there as well, though she's in debility in Scorpio and slightly less friendly.  Rather she may tend to be possessive, passionate, jealous or even obsessive which may or may not be a good thing.  Saturn is hanging out in that sign and has been for a while which suggests restructuring in that part of your life which at this time may have some throwbacks to your income in some way.  This is only a partial eclipse, by the way, but will be visible in several parts of the USA and Canada.  You can see a map of its path of visibility on the eclipse map page here.  If your birthday is right around June 22 it will trine your natal Sun and thus have a stronger effect, perhaps bringing something new and exciting into this part of your life.  If you're single and trolling for a romantic relationship this could be a nice boost.

Mercury stations direct on October 25 in fellow Cardinal Sign, Libra, your 4th house of home, memories, endings and new beginnings as noted previously.  If your birthday is right around July 8 this will be even stronger, plus, you may have felt that Lunar Eclipse as well.  This is quite a double whammy so it will probably be hard to miss unless you're unaffected.  On the other hand, there can be a delay with eclipses' effects so it may yet show up.  Take a look at what's going on in your life to see how it manifests.  It may not be earthshattering but could simply fit into the normal flow of life but it's likely to be there somewhere.
