Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month the New Moon on September 5 is in Virgo, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets, suggesting something new coming your way in this part of your life.  The lunation is part of two closed loop patterns which lend clues to where this will also show up or influence.  First of all, there is a trine to Pluto which is common to both patterns.  Pluto continues on his long trek through Capricorn, your 10th house of career, public image, status and reputation where he is slowly yet steadily transforming this part of your life.  Remember that Pluto is about getting rid of those things you no longer need, taking control, and putting one thing out of your life to allow yourself to heal and move on to something new.  The trine from this New Moon to Pluto suggests you can get a glimpse of what you need to do in order to remain on track for what the cosmos has in store for you. 

Next in this triad is Uranus, squaring Pluto on and off for several years, the last of which will be 2015.  Uranus, as you may already know, is in Aries, your 1st house of personality, and is conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around April 1.  He's retrograde, meaning he's already been over your Natal Sun once and is now backing over it again, reemphasizing something you may have missed the first time.  The square with Pluto suggests a number of things.  Perhaps you will encounter numerous surprises or disruptions, calling attention to something that needs to change with your career.  If there is something about that part of your life that is unsatisfactory now is the time to pay attention and identify it because until you know what the problem is it's not likely you can solve it.  The final aspect, tying Uranus back to the New Moon, is a quincunx, an aspect that typically indicates a change of direction, adjustment or the need to justify your current position.  Putting these together isn't exactly rocket science.  Pay attention to what's going on around you, particularly any new developments that point the way toward changes which can take you in a new direction with your work and career.

The other closed loop has a name, i.e. a "Triangle of Potential" which includes an opposition mitigated by a trine and sextile.  The New Moon is at the apex and thus the key to taking control and handling a situation that probably involves your home or family as represented by Jupiter in Cancer, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  The opposition with Pluto implies you may be stuck, unable to let go of something and move forward.  This aspect typically calls for balance, not see-saw motion.  Jupiter is in exaltation in Cancer which expands and inflates his energy even more.  Jupiter is usually a benefic planet but sometimes his expansive nature can be overwhelming.  Conflicts between home and career are common, needless to say, but that is what one message of this aspect could be.  If you've been a workaholic and focusing too much on career maybe it's time to shift some of that attention back to your homelife.  Or if you've been feeling stuck yet not quite able to let go of a secure position, then consider what the cost may be of refusing to let go.  The good news is that the New Moon is mitigating this opposition and suggests that perhaps a new job opportunity may be coming your way which can allow you to achieve greater balance between these two important areas of your life.  One of the messages of astrology and the 12 houses which define different areas of your life is that you should recognize that each is important in its own way and deserves an appropriate amount of attention.

The T-square between Uranus, Jupiter and Pluto further emphasizes that need for change to achieve balance and that it won't necessarily be easy.  However, in my experience, no one thrives on a challenge better than a Ram.  Your sign ruler, Mars, is squaring Saturn which introduces some more tension.  If your birthday is right around March 26 Mars is trining your Natal Sun from your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, speculation and entertainment, which can definitely help you know what you want.  The square to Saturn, however, in your 8th house of transformations, debt, shared resources, sex, death and regeneration, intense experiences and things you suppress, indicates a variety of responsibilities or perhaps karma is in your way.  Not surprisingly, this aspect also ties into a closed loop with Neptune in Pisces, your 12th house of inspiration, enlightenment, institutions, confinement, seclusion, hidden enemies and self-undoing, but it appears that some deep, spiritual introspection may be able to help you figure out how to deal with finding some joy in life along with meeting your responsibilities.  Remember that taking a break to enjoy yourself is allowed.  Regardless of your circumstances there are a variety of ways you can accomplish this that don't cost the proverbial arm and leg or a four week cruise to accomplish.  Use your imagination, relax and concentrate on seeing things through different eyes and you may find yourself looking at the world entirely differently than before.

The Full Moon on September 19 is in Pisces, your 12th house of spirituality and such as described above.  Remember that this type of lunation typically brings a culmination, ending or shift to a new phase and thus suggests you can achieve those insights you need.  Mars, Saturn and Uranus are connected in a way that again suggests change and adjustments even though going after what you want will still get some flack from your responsibilities.  Nonetheless, Saturn, natural ruler of such things, is conjunct both Venus and the North Node which suggests something new coming into your life in a surprising manner which has the potential for being life-changing.  You may get some flack from someone close to you about all this but this is where you need to assert yourself and look out for your own interests, especially if you've been squelching them for some time.  Transformation of your status continues to be emphasized with a change of course something you should consider.

September 22 the Sun goes into Libra, your polar sign and 7th house of relationships which include your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, competitors and open enemies.  This is known as the Libra Ingress and marks the autumnal equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and vernal equinox in the Southern.  If you happen to be born right around March 21 this has even more punch since it is also your solar opposition, when you are forced to look at yourself, perhaps through the eyes of someone close to you.  When the Sun goes into a Cardinal Sign it marks the change of seasons and the thrust of energy for the coming three months.  These charts are used for such things as weather prediction as well as geopolitical and mundane astrology.  It may also introduce the theme for the coming quarter for individuals as well, so based on that possibility I'm going to mention a few things to watch for.  As always, feedback is always welcome.  The Moon is in Taurus, your 2nd house of income, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures where she is exalted.  This placement reaffirms the fact you may have been working too hard and need to take better care of yourself.  Not surprisingly, the Moon is opposing Saturn (responsibilities) and Venus (relationships) and squaring Mars, resulting in a T-square of tension that pits your needs, what you want, and your responsibilities against each other.  If your birthday is right around April 6 you will have some extra assistance is pursuing what you want.

Pluto is mitigating the opposition between the Moon and the Saturn/Venus conjunction which suggests transformation of your status or career is one way to resolve the problem.  Saturn and Venus are quincunx Uranus, indicating sudden change or something unexpected intervening and forcing the issue.  Venus is trining Jupiter, indicating a favorable flow of energy related to bringing family and relationships into a more comfortable position, even though it's likely that some of the people in your life may not be as supportive as you'd like.  Thus, it appears that these are issues you will be dealing with over the next few months.  Whether or not this is the case time will tell and I'd love to hear from you one way or the other.  Until I do I won't know if I'm blowing smoke or if these ingress charts set the theme for individuals as much as they do the world at large.
