Lunations and Long-term Aspects The New Moon this month is in fellow Fire Sign, Sagittarius, your 5th house of ego definition, romance, children, creativity, entertainment and speculation, making it a favorable time to initiate something new in one of those areas. This is the house that Leo rules in the zodiac and thus a comfortable place comprising things that mean a lot to you. Mercury is in Sag as well, facilitating thoughts and conversations in this domain as well. Mercury is in wide but viable opposition to Jupiter in Gemini which is favorable for both planets even though they're each in the sign of their debility because they are also in a condition known as mutual reception which occurs when two planets are in the sign the other rules, setting up an energy correspondence that brings additional synergy between them. Gemini is your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, goals, networking, hopes and wishes which implies that Jupiter will be lending his expansive effects to that part of your life. He's retrograde, however, which internalizes the energy which often brings out ethics issues. This might be a time when you're considering your own personal progression versus that of some of the people you associate with, possibly making a few changes. Jupiter is also at the eye of a yod which
began last month and was part of the Full Moon the end of November. It
faded for a while and has now returned, even though it's a bit sloppy for the
New Moon with each planet in a different degree within their respective signs.
They will all be in the same degree, however, on no other than that infamous
day, 21 December 2012, the supposed end to the Mayan calendar, when numerous
individuals have predicted all sorts of dire occurrences. I'm going to
digress for a moment here to make a few points about the chart for that date,
which includes the Winter Solstice (in the Northern Hemisphere; Summer Solstice
in the Southern) or what is known in astrological circles as the Capricorn
Ingress, i.e. when the Sun enters that sign. As you can see below if you
know a little about astrology, this is not a particularly ominous looking chart.
I've seen those which were much worse that included hurricanes and tornadoes so
this one hardly looks as if that day will include a solar flare that takes out
the power grid or an asteroid impact that takes life out as we know it.
This is not to say those things won't occur, but it's not very likely they'll
happen on December 21. Rather it looks as if it relates to a shift in
consciousness or revelation of some sort. So, back to the New Moon and that yod, let's see how it might relate to you. Jupiter at the eye can either mean that it represents the end result or perhaps it triggers the sextile base, an aspect that often brings opportunity. The base comprises Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn, two planets that are also in mutual reception. That placement is fairly rare as it is and even more so to have two sets of planets in that condition, giving the chart more clarity and energy true to the planets involved. Scorpio is another Fixed Sign like Leo and your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings. Saturn represents stability, discipline, responsibility, delays, boundaries and authority figures as well as sometimes considered to be the lord of karma. This is pretty serious stuff lurking in your home environment, but not necessarily unpleasant. It may indicate some hard work but it will have a favorable outcome. This may indicate a time to bring more stability to this part of your life, either your physical home or with regard to your past and memories. This is supported by the sextile to Pluto in Capricorn, your 6th house of work, health, service and pets. Pluto does an excellent job of delving deep into a situation and finding its hidden meaning. He also is helpful for eliminating those things you no longer need or unearthing corruption. This could be in a literal or figurative sense. If you're less than thrilled with your current work situation now is a favorable time to figure out what needs to change. Note that the 6th house also includes your health so if you have some hidden issue this can be helpful in identifying it and taking appropriate action to mitigate it. Other implications suggest that resolving any work issues will foster greater home stability as one possibility. Jupiter could bring someone your way to assist with these shifts or perhaps come as the result of so doing. Mars is unaspected in the 6th which could stir things up on the job or give you a whole lot of energy to get your ducks in a row for whatever purpose. Mars is exalted in Capricorn where all that energy is directed in a structured and organized manner, allowing you to accomplish a lot. Expect some surprises which could change how you see the world and further motivate any changes that need to be made. Inspiration is possible but don't be too idealistic or you could set yourself up for disappointment. On the other hand defining and maintaining a vision of where you want to go is a good thing because that is the only way to get there. This is also a time to think about anything you may be suppressing and confronting it openly. The Full Moon on December 28 is in Cancer, your 12th house of dreams, visions, spirituality, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies, the collective consciousness and self-undoing or what I usually consider the angels and demons house. The Sun is in Capricorn which may help illuminate the lesson related to your job or perhaps any possible health issues. Emotional commitment to make any needed changes is there as well. The yod discussed above is in effect until the end of the month, giving you plenty of time to figure out how this all applies to you. The start of a new year is always a good time to initiate change, even more so when it's also the beginning of a new galactic cycle as suggested by the Mayans. |
