For example, if you teach your Cappy child to look both ways when crossing the road, but then tell him or her to never cross a busy street alone, s/he may carefully look both ways, cross the street safely, then wonder why s/he gets in trouble.  I know this to be true because I did it when I was three years old.  I truly couldn't understand what all the fuss was about since I had been careful, looked both ways, and nothing bad had happened. 

This sign has a sense of humor, but you can bet that it's not silly or sophomoric.  Rather, it's quite dry, even at an early age.  Their appearance and persona is typically serious, though they enjoy just about everything other kids enjoy once they get into it.  In most cases they won't be mischievous, though they may get into trouble at the prodding of someone else showing them how it's done.  This does not come naturally to them as they seldom have trouble following the rules, provided they understand their rationale and they make sense.  If they're stupid they'll say so and probably dismiss them. 

Cappies are conscious of status and appearance and have little regard for something that isn't the best of the best.  For example, getting second place just doesn't do it; no silver metals here, it's the gold or rated as a complete failure.  It is thus important to instill in your little Cappy the concept of making progress in a methodical way.  They need to understand that in order to get to the top it takes work (which usually isn't a problem) but being number one is part of a process.  Even those people on TV who seem to accelerate to the top overnight have been working on their respective talents for years prior to being discovered.  They will tend to admire success and naturally want it for themselves.  Your challenge as a parent is to teach them how to get there because they probably won't know how as intuitively as they know what they want.

The amount of patience a little Goat has is greatly influenced by their ascendant and Moon Sign.  For the most part they won't have a problem with moving forward in a methodical way, once it's explained to them why it's necessary.  Those with other Earth Signs predominant will be even more serious about where they're going.  Taurus will give them a lot of patience and determination and Virgo will give them a critical eye and perfectionism, which can actually hinder them if they expect too much of themselves and discouraged as a result.

Capricorn is a Cardinal Sign, meaning Goats don't have trouble being in charge.  They aren't as presumptuous about it as an Aries can be, but quietly take the helm and run things as less ambitious individuals step out of their way.  There are exceptions, of course, particularly if they have strong Fire Sign influences.  Conversely, if their Sign Ruler, Saturn, is  retrograde in their birth chart this can inhibit them from stepping in and taking over, but it won't stop them from wanting to get to the top of that proverbial mountain. They'll just expect their inherent ability to be recognized by others who will reward them accordingly without them specifically asking or pursuing it.  This can work to a certain degree, but to really get what they want in life will require conscious, confident, persistent action on their part, particularly is there is strong competition.  Teach them that they have to follow the rules early in life; if you want <blank> then you need to do <blank>. 

Like their polar sign, Cancer, Cappies have a strong loyalty to their family.  However, if their family is somewhat of an embarrassment for any reason, this will bother them considerably.  They won't necessarily abandon them, but they won't exactly bring friends home to dinner, either. 

Encourage your little Goat to have fun and play.  They usually like to read or, in this day and age, surf the web, and they don't usually have any problem with being alone.  However, it's good for them to interact with other children so encourage their participation in group activities such as sports, dance, scouting or anything else in which they show an interest.  Encourage their creativity and keep an eye out for any outstanding talents that bear development.   Like all children, they thrive on love and affection but will not be as demanding in attaining it as other signs.  Reward their progress in whatever pursuit it may be and point out to them how much they've learned along the way.  Build their confidence and encourage them, even if whatever it is they are going after seems foolish to you.  They like structure, security, stability, and generally don't have a problem with rules and restrictions, provided they make sense to them. 

These are likely to be the kids who grow up and take care of you in your old age, firstly because they're likely to be successful if you do your job as a parent, and secondly because they are loyal to their family.  The one thing you want to avoid is putting them down, alienating them, or discouraging their sense of ambition.  That desire to get to the top is not going away and it's in your best interest to make sure they're headed in a good direction and know how to get there.
