Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month is loaded with astrological action which is going to set the tone for months to come.  There are three lunations, two planets stationing retrograde, one stationing direct and the Aries ingress, marking the equinox and start of a new season.  Three of those events occur within just over 34 hours which gives that timeframe considerable punch and worth paying attention to.  It starts on March 1 with the New Moon in fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 5th house of ego definition, self-expression, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Typically a New Moon brings something new into your life and whatever this is may set the tone for what's ahead.  If your birthday is right around November 3 this lunation will have even more influence as it will also involve your belief system which has been undergoing a variety of ruminations for several months.  Your sign ruler, Pluto, is lending discernment and your usual x-ray vision into the situation which will also enjoy considerable inspiration which you should listen for and seek out. 

In case you haven't noticed there has been a planetary Retrograde Relay Race in effect since late December when Venus started the race.  Her mission is usually to call attention to what you value and are willing to fight for as opposed to waiting for it to come to you.  This lasted through January then the first week of February Mercury jumped in, messing with electronics and mechanical devices as well as your thought processes until the end of the month.  Mercury typically wants you to rethink or reconsider something which if you were listening probably took you back to square one with regard to something in your life and was probably related to what Venus was trying to tell you in some way.  At this point also on March 1, a little over 8 hours after the New Moon, your traditional sign ruler, Mars, stations RX in Libra, your 12th house of dreams, visions, enlightenment, inspiration, the collective consciousness, your subconscious mind, confinement, seclusion, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  This is likely to be a bit more subtle in its effects than if there were to occur in a different house yet this is one of the most important parts of your life since it's the true driving force behind everything you do.  If something is amiss here it will leak out into your life one way or another. 

At this point you should read my article elsewhere on this website about the Mars retrograde cycle which you can find here.  Note the dates in the table at the bottom on your calendar for future reference as it will be to your benefit to ponder what's going on at that time.  The article mentions the Sun - Mars trine that occurred earlier which was February 14, i.e. Valentine's Day.  If possible, think about what may have occurred on that day that was particularly motivating because when Mars stations RX that motivation is likely to bomb out.  Venus is squaring Mars from Capricorn, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel which is where she also went RX last December.  Think about what you value in this part of your life and any inconsistencies in your behavior or priorities that relate to it.  This is where Mars accepts the baton and takes off where Venus left off. 

Running in the background of all this is that ongoing T-square between Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus which is going to last for a while longer, particularly the square between Uranus and Pluto which will last for another year.  What this configuration means to you is likely to manifest in your work, health or service in some manner.  A hectic and disruptive pace on the job is going to clash with your beliefs and thus bring out various thoughts that could turn dark.  Pluto is you modern sign ruler and his usual influence involves power, control, eliminating what you no longer need, and exposing corruption.  If your job is a trainwreck then you will want to take control one way or another but it will be necessary to balance this with sound beliefs.  Tolerance may not be one of your strong points the New Moon may actually serve to mellow you out to some degree which will be a good thing because then you'll be more receptive to what all these RX planets are trying to say.

Just short of 24 hours after Mars stations Saturn will, too.  Saturn RX has some typical characteristics such as instituting delays and obstacles as well as an acute awareness of boundaries and limitations.  Clearly this is not fun, especially if you're on a bit of a power trip, even if only to control your own life.  As they say, no man is an island and doing so is always easier said than done.  Saturn is in your sign and parked on your unfortunate natal Sun if your birthday is right around November 16.  Saturn RX stirs up your subconscious as well about something that needs to be restructured but you may not know what it was all about until he goes direct July 21.  However, with Mars in that part of your horoscope where you subconscious resides, maybe you'll know, especially since you're quite discerning by nature.  When Saturn goes direct you'll know for sure, if not before, and with luck you should have everything taken care of by your birthday or close to it. 

A few hints regarding what Saturn might be up to may come from the square from Mercury.  He's in Aquarius and still in his RX shadow within your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  Whatever he may have been directing you toward rethinking or reconsidering is likely to relate to Saturn's restructuring in some way.  With your 4th house involved this could pertain to your actual home or a new endeavor under consideration or perhaps both.  Drawing from inspiration is still favored plus Saturn's RX chart has the benefit of an Aries Moon which can help provide some emotional energy.  However, this could also express as anger and may not be good for your blood pressure in your 6th house of work and health.  It's very possible that whatever you're dealing with may drag on much longer than you'd prefer so do your best to accept that and avoid frustration as much as possible.  If you're obsessing on something, especially likely if Pluto is getting out of hand (those of you born right around November 6 should look out for that) then you aren't going to like it when things don't go according to plan.  Arguing with the planets, however, is an exercise in futility so making every effort to avail yourself of that inspirational energy and go with the flow is highly advised.

Come March 6 Jupiter stations direct and as you may recall he's part of that T-square described above.  While RX Jupiter tends to be introspective, philosophical and ruminate on ethics issues but this is about to change.  While Jupiter is often considered a benefic or friendly planet in reality he's actually pretty much neutral.  What he does is expand and inflate what he touches which can be lucky when the other planet and aspect is favorable but he can just as easily increase things that aren't so good and he's in hard aspect with two planets that don't have the best reputation.  With Uranus the ruler of explosions and Pluto ruler of the Underworld and hidden crap in general, the results here may not be pretty.  Your job, service activities or health may be in the line of fire so pay attention and do everything you can be draw from your inner strength and any inspiration out there, even if it means some escapism to get through it all.  Saving your sanity by whatever means necessary is not usually a bad thing. 

The Full Moon on March 16 is in Virgo, your 11th house of goals, friends, hopes, wishes, groups, organizations and networking.  A Full Moon usually brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  This chart has three quincunxes, an aspect that indicates the need for a change of course, adjustments, to justify your position or sometimes a Catch-22.  It is uncomfortable, unstable, and hard to predict other than recognizing that something needs to change.  Given all those RX planets and what they've been up to, it's not surprising that changes are required and moving toward them is likely to come about at this time.

The Sun goes into Aries on March 20.  There's usually a substantial energy shift as the Sun leaves dreamy Pisces for warrior Aries.  Many unpleasant and violent events occur when the Sun is in Aries which I won't enumerate but you can find easily enough in places like Wikipedia.  That ominous T-square is in full operation with all the planets involved in forward motion.  Inspiration is still possible but make sure it's not delusional.  A change of course is likely which could simply involve your attitude toward something going on at home or perhaps some other fresh start you're pursuing.  Ingress charts are used in mundane astrology, i.e. astrology's influence on world events, and also relevant with forecasting weather.  Mark your calendar for this day and see what happens.

The New Moon on March 30 is in Aries conjunct Uranus which means it activates that T-square.  No telling what that could bring.  Use your imagination and be creative in seeking solutions which are going to also tie back to what Saturn is trying to get you to restructure.  Inspiration may come through someone close to you as well.  There are definite challenges at this time but also an easy flow of energy to find solutions and discover what the Universe is trying to tell you.
