Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there is much more astrological activity than usual, some of which is going to be in effect for quite a while.  These effects are usually subtle on a day to day basis yet often discernible if you look for them.  This month there are three lunations, two planets stations retrograde, one stations direct plus there's the Aries ingress, marking the equinox and beginning of a new season which many are more than ready for.  Three of these events are clustered within a span of just over 34 hours, lending considerable punch to the aspects in effect at that time.  Station charts are powerful because when a planet is stationery its energy is focused in a certain degree of the zodiac for much longer than the usual run-of-the-mill transit.  If this interacts with your natal, progressed or solar return chart you are highly likely to feel it.

There has been a planetary Retrograde Relay Race since late December when Venus went RX in Capricorn which lasted until the end of January.  Her mission is usually to call attention to what you value and give you the boot you need to go after what you want rather than waiting for it to come to you.  She was followed in February by Mercury who managed to pretty much mess up that month with all sorts of computer glitches, car repairs, and muddled brain power though his usual theme is to rethink, reconsider and revise something.  Mars is next in line but first things first.

The New Moon on March 1 kicks things off from Pisces, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  Of course a New Moon in the house of new beginnings has a certain resonance so see what develops.  This one is conjunct Neptune, ruler of Pisces, which gives it even more of a dreamy, other-worldly nature.  This is not to say you'll have an encounter with a UFO or something but you never know, especially since your sign ruler, Jupiter, is putting in his two bits worth from your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth, things you suppress, debt, intense experiences and shared resources.  Not to be left out, Pluto is contributing as well from your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures which could hint at an improvement in that area, perhaps as a result of taking better control of your spending, which Venus probably reminded you of during her RX gig.  This lunation will be most noticeable if your birthday is right around December 3.

A little over 8 hours after the New Moon Mars takes the baton and stations RX in Libra, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, networking, hopes, wishes and goals.  This could have the effect of slamming situations in that part of your life into reverse.  At this point I recommend that you read my article on the Mars RX cycle here and mark the dates given there on your calendar for future reference.  The pre-station Sun-Mars trine referred to there occurred on February 14, i.e. Valentine's Day, which may help jog your memory.  Think about whether you may have had a brainstorm of some sort about that time that you were enthusiastic about.  If so, it may go flat about the time Mars stations RX.  Looking at the station chart which only differs slightly from the New Moon chart, Venus is squaring Mars which once again brings in the money theme.  If you had some grandiose plans that involved your finances you may find it necessary to reconsider at this time.  This is not necessarily a bad thing.  If your birthday is right around December 19 you should definitely watch for an opportunity to come out of this in some way.  Marks those dates and see what develops.  Remember to use that astrological energy or it will use you.  Think about what's going on and how to take advantage of it.

Just 4 minutes short of a day later Saturn stations RX in Scorpio, your 12th house of spirituality, visions, dreams, inspiration, enlightenment, confinement, seclusion, institutions, your subconscious mind, the collective consciousness, hidden enemies and self-undoing.  Saturn RX typically operates at the subconscious level which of course is a no-brainer when he's in your 12th house.  His mission is to eventually bring your attention to something that needs to be restructured.  What this suggests is that you may have something lurking in your subconscious that is holding you back and should be addressed.  There are plenty of motivational speakers these days who help with that very thing such as Dr. Robert Anthony (see link above), Joe Vitale, Mike Dooley and various others, any of which I have listened to and can say they do a good job.  If you feel as if you can never get ahead then maybe it's time to figure out what is holding you back.  Your conscious thoughts or perhaps ideas coming at you from someone close to you, whether it's your significant other or a business partner, may not exactly be helping this situation or perhaps you're simply in the wrong career field to meet your financial goals.

Running in the background of all this for quite a while now and yet into the future is a T-square worth mentioning.  It's been there so long it may seem somewhat like background noise, perhaps of the kind when your noisy redneck neighbors have a beer bust and fail to invite you.  This triad involves Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter, your sign ruler, who goes direct on March 6.  Pluto in your 2nd house can have a variety of effects that you should monitor closely.  His forte is power, control, eliminating what you don't need and exposing corruption.  As noted earlier, if you don't use the prevailing cosmic energies they will use you so if you are not controlling your finances and what you need then who is?  Pluto transits bring about transformations and you can make this a good one if you handle it properly.  However, there is quite a bit of opposition, which you've undoubtedly already noticed. 

Uranus is in fellow Fire Sign, Aries, your 5th house of ego definition, creative expression, children, romance, entertainment and speculation and trining your natal Sun if your birthday is right around the aforementioned December 3.  Uranus is full of surprises and disruptions but also is innovative, original, freedom loving and rebellious.  What has that been doing in your house of ego and how has it impacted your wallet?  Last but not least is your sign ruler in Cancer, your 8th house of transformations, things you suppress, death and rebirth, sex, debt and shared resources as well as intense experiences.  Jupiter has been retrograde which directs  his energy toward ruminations about ethics and philosophical topics which probably clash with much of what's been going on. 

This is all going to change on March 6 when Jupiter stations direct.  While most consider him a benefic or friendly planet, this is not necessarily the case.  He expands and inflates what he touches and that's not necessarily favorable, especially in this case where he's in hard aspect with Uranus and Pluto who are seldom what you could call friendly.  Mark this on your calendar for sure and make sure you don't make any impulsive decisions at this time that are going to bite you.  Don't believe everything and verify all information. 

The Full Moon on March 16 is in Virgo, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status.  A Full Moon typically denotes an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  This lunation forms a T-square with your natal Sun if your birthday is right around December 18.  This chart has three quincunxes, an aspect that calls for an adjustment, change of course, justifying your position or brings a Catch-22 situation.  It is uncomfortable and unstable such that it is difficult to predict other than the fact things are going to change.  This, again, can be at your volition or set upon you by outside forces.  More than likely the changes also relate to the retrograde relay race in some way, which is not going to be completed for several months.  It would definitely be in your best interest to identify what they are about so that you can work with them rather than against them.

The Sun enters Aries on March 20 which will also bring a significant energy shift.  You can relate to this as a fellow Fire Sign and it may bring some ideas your way that are considerably useful.  Inspiration toward home situations or new beginnings is available in a big way so be sure to encourage it and draw from it for direction.  Your intuition should serve you well at this time.

The New Moon on March 30 is also in Aries, your 5th house of ego and such as defined above.  The lunation is conjunct Uranus which should give it a surprise element, especially since that also means it activates that T-square.  Major changes and new directions are highly likely and are likely to tip the hands of Mars and Saturn with regard to their respective agendas.  Recognize that various wheels are in motion but it's doubtful anything will be finalized for several months.  When Mars trines the Sun at the end of May it's likely something will come about but Saturn's work at the subconscious level may not be complete until the end of October.  Increasing your awareness of what is going on around you and connecting with inspiration which is readily available is your best bet to navigate this period which should be interesting at best and perhaps a bit rocky at worst.
