Lunations and Long-term Aspects This is a month that's loaded with cosmic activity and much of it is going to last for a while. Any New Moon brings something new but this one is further strengthened by Mars going retrograde the same day and Saturn the next. This implies that whatever new comes along is likely also to tie into those RX periods and slow things down a bit. There's been a veritable retrograde relay since late December when Venus switched directions, which lasted through January, Mercury messed with things throughout February and now Mars and Saturn are getting into the game. Retrograde periods have an important message, however, as the planets' energy is internalized, providing a time, albeit through compulsion, to sit back and think about what is going on, whether things are on track and address any changes that should be made. Saturn retrograde is notorious for obstacles and delays while Mars, the planet that rules action and drive, can definitely slow things down as well. That said, let's see what there is to look forward to. The New Moon on March 1 is in Pisces, your 6th house of work, health, daily activities and pets, suggesting something new coming your way in that part of your life. If your birthday is right around October 4 you are even more likely to experience a change of direction, need to justify your position or encounter some form of Catch-22 in this part of your life. The lunation is conjunct Neptune, ruler of Pisces, which will give it an even stronger Piscean energy which tends to be dreamy, other worldly, imaginative and inspirational. Pisces is also compassionate and your 6th house includes service so this is an excellent time to volunteer for some type of charitable work or perform a simple act of kindness for someone less fortunate than yourself. If your job requires an active imagination this can be a significant boost but it may send you off into Lalaland if your work is more in the logical realm which could make it difficult to concentrate or stay focused. Remember to use astrological energy according to what you desire so it won't have its way with you. For example, if your work does require clarity then put that Piscean energy to work outside office hours through a hobby or charitable service. If your work operates in the Neptunian realm such as photography, film, some psychological research, etc. then this will provide an excellent boost. One thing to keep in mind in that long-term Cardinal T-square between Jupiter, Pluto and Uranus. It's not going away anytime soon and is providing cosmic background noise that may or may not be influencing your daily activities at a personal level but is undoubtedly going on all around you. Libra is also a Cardinal sign so these planets square your natal Sun if your birthday is between October 3 - 8. This creates a Grand Square which can be rather challenging. Pluto is providing a transformational effect in your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings. You may also feel a compulsive or even obsessive need for control or find a tendency to engage in major cleaning frenzies, which of course are not necessarily a bad thing. Uranus in your 7th house of close relationships including your significant other, close friends and relatives, business partners and professionals, competitors and open enemies will cause numerous disruptions and surprises in this area while Jupiter in Cancer, your 10th house of career, public image, reputation and status may have been highlighting ethics or philosophical issues in that part of your life but his energy is about to change when he goes direct on March 6, but more on that later. The main thing to bear in mind is that as these planets square each other there will be conflict between them so if those parts of your life are causing considerable stress then this is likely why. Speaking of Jupiter, the lunation trines that big boy which brings his philosophical bearings into play. This can be of great assistance in a positive way so anything you do related to this New Moon will have more import. Pluto is tied into the New Moon as well in a favorable way that suggests an opportunity that could involve resolving something from your past that could relate back to your childhood or family traditions. So that's enough to think about in terms of the New Moon. Mars stations RX about 8 hours after the lunation in your sign and conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around October 21. Metaphorically that means things could grind to a screeching halt. I recommend that you go here and read more about the Mars retrograde cycle and mark the days noted on your calendar. The Sun - Mars trine noted in the article occurred on February 14, i.e. Valentines' Day, which may help you remember the situation referred to. To recap or for those of you who may not have bothered to go there, this would be something that you had a considerable amount of enthusiasm for at the time which is likely to fall flat as Mars stations. This is not necessarily a bad thing but a time of consideration. I have found that often Mars RX rehashes something that occurred the last time Mars was RX which was 26 months ago (January - February 2012 in Virgo). Perhaps an action taken at that time has repercussions or a lesson involved of which the Universe wants you to take note. In some cases it may be something you did where you now wonder what you were thinking at the time. Looking at what else is going on in this chart which is also part of the New Moon chart, your sign ruler, Venus, is squaring Mars from your 4th house of home environment and so forth. Venus also rules your 8th house of transformations. This implies that you could be embroiled in conflict of some sort on the homefront. Perhaps you were planning to take some sort of action on it which has now collapsed for some reason. This could also relate to memories or your homelife at any stage of life but the 4th is also the house of endings and new beginnings so just about anything could come under that heading. Whatever it is, the Universe is calling a Timeout. When the Universe speaks it's best to listen or you may regret it later. Then on March 2 Saturn, your exalted ruler, goes retrograde in nextdoor neighboring sign, Scorpio. This is your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, finances and pleasures which, by the way is ruled by Mars while Saturn rules your 4th of home environment so you can see how all this is tying together. The basic dynamics of Saturn RX are that he stirs things up in your subconscious with regard to something that needs to be restructured. You may not even be aware of what it is at this point. By the time he stations direct, which will be 21 July, you will know what it is and by the time he's out of shadow the end of October you'll probably have it taken care of. Looking at the RX chart's aspect for clues regarding this RX gig, Mercury, who is still a bit sluggish because he's still in his RX shadow, is squaring Saturn from your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation. Mercury is the natural ruler of thoughts and ideas and rules your 9th of beliefs and 12th of your subconscious mind. Now is a time to think long and hard about how you earn your living, your spending habits and what you value. This brings to mind the fact that Venus' RX trek in the December - January timeframe specialized in identifying what you value and what you're willing to fight for, so it should be relatively easy to put you finger on that. If there's a conflict of some sort, then all of this internalized energy will help you sort things out over the next few months and figure out which way to go. Libras like to be fair and balanced in their decisions so this gives you the time you need to gather information and sort through it. Particularly look for any sort of incompatibility between your core beliefs and your job or career. If you don't love your job figure out why. If you feel as if you're not headed in the right direction seek out a new course. Jupiter stations direct on March 6 which will allow his usual expansive nature to resume. However, as part of that T-square described above, this may not be particularly welcome. While Jupiter is generally considered a benefic or lucky planet, he's actually somewhat neutral and simply expands what he touches for good or ill. For example, he's often involved in massive storms and tornados and also frequently appears in death charts, though in some cases death is a very positive thing. At any rate, in cahoots with Uranus and Pluto there's no telling what could result. Some sort of explosion, figurative or otherwise, is likely to get your attention at that time which is going to also relate to all this other activity so pay attention. The Full Moon on March 16 is in Virgo, your 12th house of inspiration, dreams, visions, enlightenment, spirituality, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing and suggests an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase related to something in that part of your life. This chart has three quincunxes, an aspect that calls for an adjustment, change of course or justifying your position. It can also indicate a Catch-22 situation. It is often uncomfortable and unpredictable the main consistency that something has to give, one way or the other. This could bring the energy you need to figure what much of this time is about for you. Retrograde planets tend to encourage some sort of change of direction by their very nature so these quincunxes reinforce that theme. The fact the lunation is in your 12th house is very useful since much of this is operating at the subconscious level. The Sun enters Aries on March 20 which will bring what should be a noticeable energy shift compared to Pisces. The concept of changing direction is present again and an unexpected opportunity may come your way through someone you know well at this time, even though it will present a bit of a challenge. This is not necessarily a bad thing since even positive change has an element of tension involved. Mercury and Neptune are conjunct which provides inspiration but rational thought may be in short supply. This is a time to listen to your intuition instead of going strictly with logic. The New Moon on March 30 is in your polar sign, Aries, and 7th house of relationships. The lunation is conjunct Uranus which will provide a surprise element of sorts with this also emphasizing that ongoing Cardinal T-square. There is a fair amount of intensity implied but there are positive energy flows as well so look beyond anything that resembles or actually is a crisis for the proverbial silver lining. Accept the fact the next few months are not likely to show the kind of progress you'd like to see outwardly but this is going to be a good thing as you discover a new and better way to proceed during this thought-provoking time. |

Do you ever wonder... Why you act or feel a certain way? Where a certain talent came from? Why you feel driven to pursue something? For me, I always wondered why I was so driven to write. From the time I was barely old enough to hold a pencil I wanted to write stories. My natal chart gave a few hints but they weren't really that clear. However, years later, even after I'd been into astrology for quite a long time, I discovered the answer: Kalliope, muse of writing, was sitting on my Ascendant with a huge grin on her face. Kalliope is an asteroid and a fairly obscure one at that, yet she solved a mystery about myself I'd wondered about for years. As an astrologer I'd learned early on that asteroids fine-tune your personality and reveal details the usual natal reading of the planets and luminaries miss. While you may have something in common with those who share you Sun Sign you know that everyone is a distinct individual. The Moon and planets help define you but still leave a lot to be discovered. Asteroids get personal. There are thousands of them, making that possible. What will the asteroids reveal about YOU? Find out with an Asteroids Report Sample Report Sale: $9.95 $12.95 reg. |
