Lunations and Long-term Aspects This month is loaded with cosmic activity including two New Moons, one Full Moon, two planets stationing retrograde, one stationing direct and the Aries Ingress, marking the equinox and beginning of a new season, which many of you are more than ready for. With the New Moon, Mars RX station and Saturn RX station within a day of each other the aspects in force at that time receive a triple whammy that is going to increase the longevity of their influence. A New Moon may only last until the next one a month later (though some astrologers have said that it lasts until a Full Moon occurs in the same sign six months later, something I haven't monitored enough to have an opinion on). Retrograde station charts, however, define the mission of that cycle and are thus in force for a fairly long time. Thus, you may want to hang onto this month's horo for future reference because my various prognostications are not all going to occur this month but will spread out over what could be much of the year. With a New Moon involved kicking things off it's likely that much of this is going to relate to new situations, events and conditions or at least a new approach to old ones. The New Moon on March 1 is in Pisces, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, neighbors, siblings and local travel and sextile your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 2. This is likely to be a particularly dreamy or perhaps even other-worldly lunation with it conjunct Neptune, ruler of Pisces with that further emphasized by Jupiter trining them all from Cancer, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships. This house is more than just your significant other but also includes business partners, business professionals, competitors and open enemies. Jupiter in that house suggests an expansion in this part of your life which may increase even more when Jupiter goes direct in a few days, but more on that a bit later. This triple trine may indicate some significant daydreaming about those you know well or perhaps one person in particular. It's a fairly friendly aspect which is certainly welcome. Pluto is also tied into the New Moon from your sign which provides a hint toward some transformational action at a personal level as a result of this situation but with a positive spin. Pluto is conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 4. If that is you, then you're probably already embroiled in change and a transformation process that lasts for a few years. It has been said that few ever die of a Pluto transit but you may want to. They are not fun as I found out personally a few years ago. You entire life is likely to change but when you get on the other side it's usually a good thing, for whatever that's worth. If Pluto is not parked on your Sun or in the process of a triple pass due to his retrograde gigs then his presence in your 1st house will be must more subtle but still influential. Wanting to take control of your life, cleaning frenzies or even seeking out intense experiences are some possible effects. At any rate, take a look around you for how this may fit because it's likely to be around for awhile. Mars stations RX about 8 hours after the New Moon. At this point you may want to diverge and read more about the mechanics of Mars RX here. Mark the dates shown at the bottom of that page on your calendar so you can remember to note what occurs those days. Also remember that if you don't use the energy out there then it will use you, perhaps in a way you don't particularly like. If you're aware and identify a positive way to direct the vibes you will like the outcome considerably more. I would assume that would be why you're reading this in the first place, to understand what is going on around you and to utilize it to advantage wherever possible. While that article mentions the preceding Sun - Mars trine, it does NOT give you the date. If you're wondering it was February 14, i.e. Valentines' Day. This may make it a little easier to connect with as far as anything that may have happened at that time, particularly if it involved someone close to you. Supposedly that was a day when a burst of energy may have occurred which may diminish quite a bit when the RX station occurs. The RX station chart is virtually the same as the New Moon chart other than some slight movement on the part of the Sun and Moon. So take the information about about the lunation and add what follows with the realization it's going to be in effect until at least 20 May. I should point out that all this may not be obvious or earthshattering but will influence you life in some way. If you know your ascendant you might want to read that horo as well for more information. Mars stations while being squared by Venus, an aspect that automatically conjures up images of conflict between the sexes. As if that ever happens, right? Mars is in Libra, sign of his debility, and your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status. Mars is usually inclined toward unilateral action but in Libra he is held back somewhat due to the need to consider others as well as alternative actions. Since this placement is pointing toward career it's possible that the relationship implied may be a business-related one, but not necessarily. Venus is in Capricorn where she will come out of her retrograde shadow in a few days. She was retrograde from late December through January, a cycle which often calls attention to what you value and what you're willing to do to preserve or obtain it. In fact, there is quite a relay race of sorts with retrograde planets going on since that time. Mercury was RX during February, an admonition to rethink, reconsider and re-plan. Now Mars is pausing to consider past actions and what to do next. By the way, Venus in your 1st house tends to have a rather complimentary effect and make others quite receptive to you so put that to maximum use. If your birthday is right around January 18 that means YOU and also strengthens the effects of this Mars - Venus square. The square with Mars, however, may have other implications when you look at rulerships. Mars rules Aries, your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings and is the traditional ruler of Scorpio, your 11th house of groups, friends, organizations, hopes, wishes and goals. So putting this all together yields an ending or new beginning in your career goals or perhaps a different work group. Venus rules Taurus, your 5th house of ego definition, creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation as well as Libra, your aforementioned 10th. Considering that a square aspect implies conflict or challenge, it looks as if you may not get what you want or may encounter a major challenge with a creative endeavor. Lurking behind all this like dissonant background music is that ongoing Cardinal T-square between Pluto, Uranus and Jupiter. Look for internal rumblings of dissatisfaction or a need for change coupled with family issues that are presenting various challenges. This may or may not relate to the major theme of the retrogrades at this time, but it will be there and that is the source. So we had the New Moon and suggestions relating to a new relationship plus Mars throwing it into reverse careerwise and possibly inhibiting your creativity or some other 5th house issue. Now for the third hit which is your sign ruler, Saturn, stationing RX on March 2. The most significant difference with this chart is the Moon moving into Aries. This is probably a good thing since it provides a lot more emotional drive and energy than it did in Pisces which is Daydream Central. Saturn is in Scorpio, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, networking, goals, hopes and wishes. Saturn RX usually involves the need to restructure something which is going to probably involve something that resides in this house and/or whatever house it is in your natal chart. Saturn RX is notorious for delays and obstacles which will be more apparent that what needs to be redone. Typically Saturn RX digs around in your subconscious and you don't necessarily know what's going on other than feeling a little restless without knowing why. Then when he goes direct on 21 July you may figure it out and have things taken care of by the end of October when Saturn exits his shadow period. At least that's usually how it plays out. So that's the basics of Saturn RX but the station chart is likely to reveal a little more which may help you figure out a little sooner what is going on. Mercury, which is still in his shadow period, is squaring Saturn, even though it's a bit wide, from Aquarius, your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures. If something in this part of your life has been going backwards lately this is likely to be the cause. The square with Saturn suggests the need for some major restructuring and new goals for this part of your life while Mercury in that house should help stimulate your mental processes such that you can come up with some good ideas. The sextile between the Sun and Pluto implies that eliminating fluff or any extravagances may help as well as a general increased sense of frugality whether it's clipping coupons for the grocery store, making less trips there or carpooling to save gas, etc. Then on March 6 Jupiter stations direct in Cancer, your 7th house of close relationships and opposite your natal Sun if your birthday is right around January 1. Remember also that Jupiter is part of that annoying background music so it will affect that as well. Jupiter RX tends to address ethics and philosophical issues but when he goes direct his more normal expansive nature will come into play. While Jupiter is usually thought of as lucky, this is not necessarily so. He is really somewhat neutral, like Mercury, and simply expands what he touches for good or ill. So since he's in hard aspect with two malefics, this may not be a good thing. That background music may suddenly hit 60 decibels and have the annoyance factor of your redneck neighbors having a beer bust that goes into the wee hours of the night with the next day a workday. All may not be lost, however, since Jupiter is also trining the midpoint between Neptune and the Sun in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors. This can bring some inspiration regarding how to handle matters or perhaps bring out some useful information from the past. The Full Moon on March 16 is in fellow Earth Sign, Virgo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, politics, religion, legal matters, long-distance travel and relocation which suggests and ending, culmination or shift to a new phase of something in this part of your life. This chart has three quincunxes, an aspect that is also known as an inconjunct and as the name implies is somewhat uncomfortable and unstable. It demands an adjustment or change of course which is often hard to predict. Areas that could be affected include your finances, which looks as if it would be a favorable change, some upleveling in your expectations based on new information and perhaps some new ideas related to Mars RX and thus your career or status. The Sun enters fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries, on March 20. A change of direction or perhaps the need to defend your position financially to someone close to you is possible with some opportunity for a significant change. Mercury and Neptune are both in Pisces which is good for inspiration but Mercury is in debility and fall in that sign where his hardline logic gets pretty soggy in that other-worldly environment. The results look generally positive, however, so using your imagination is encouraged. I feel safe saying that to Capricorns who I don't have to worry too much about as far as using common sense. The New Moon on March 30 is in Aries and squares your natal Sun if your birthday is right around December 31. This occurs in your 4th house of home environment, endings and new beginnings and is conjunct Uranus which brings in the potential for a few surprises. These may even be big surprises given that it's also in range of that annoying background music and may stir things up there as well. Being receptive to inspiration is advised here as well. By this time Mars and Venus are in trine, which should bring some favorable financial news or ideas. Mars is still retrograde but his work related to your financial goals may be enhanced. Saturn is squaring Venus so restructuring is likely to be required or have some meaning to the situation even though it is likely to represent a considerable challenge. Information gathering and inspiration are available, however, so listen to your intuition. As you can see if you've made it this far, this is a very busy month astrologically with a lot going on that is going to set the stage for the coming months. With Mars and Saturn both retrograde progress is likely to be slow and frustrating. Sometimes it's a good thing to slow down, take a good look around at what is going on and make some changes and adjustments and that planets are definitely encouraging that. If you can't beat 'em, join 'em. |

Do you ever wonder... Why you act or feel a certain way? Where a certain talent came from? Why you feel driven to pursue something? For me, I always wondered why I was so driven to write. From the time I was barely old enough to hold a pencil I wanted to write stories. My natal chart gave a few hints but they weren't really that clear. However, years later, even after I'd been into astrology for quite a long time, I discovered the answer: Kalliope, muse of writing, was sitting on my Ascendant with a huge grin on her face. Kalliope is an asteroid and a fairly obscure one at that, yet she solved a mystery about myself I'd wondered about for years. As an astrologer I'd learned early on that asteroids fine-tune your personality and reveal details the usual natal reading of the planets and luminaries miss. While you may have something in common with those who share you Sun Sign you know that everyone is a distinct individual. The Moon and planets help define you but still leave a lot to be discovered. Asteroids get personal. There are thousands of them, making that possible. What will the asteroids reveal about YOU? Find out with an Asteroids Report Sample Report Sale: $9.95 $12.95 reg. |
