Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there's a lot of cosmic activity, much of which is going to have a bearing on several months to come.  There are three lunations, two planets stationing retrograde, one stationing direct and the Aries ingress marking the equinox and a new season.  There has been a regular relay of retrograde planets since Venus did the backstroke from the end of December through January, Mercury barely went direct the end of February and now Mars and Saturn are poised to take their turn.  The New Moon and Mars retrograde station both occur on March 1 which gives it a considerable amount of punch.  A New Moon typically is only in effect until the next one occurs, or perhaps as some astrologers believe, until a Full Moon occurs in the same sign about six months later.  I've never investigated that so don't know whether or not it is true but you might want to think about it.  However, assuming that it usually only lasts for a month, at least as far as it's ability to institute something new is concerned, Mars' station chart will essentially be in effect for the entire retrograde period which lasts until 20 May and actually 22 July when the shadow period is over. 

So whatever Mars RX has in store for you, the New Moon is going to kick it off in fellow Water Sign, Pisces, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, long-distance travel, other cultures, religion, politics and relocation.  Thus, this could be something that occurs exclusively on the mental plane or could involve something as dramatic as going back to school or some other 9th house endeavor.  The lunation is conjunct Neptune, providing additional Piscean energy which tends to be dreamy, undefined, nebulous and other worldly though of course this can also be inspirational.  It is trining Jupiter in your sign and if your birthday is right around July 3 this big boy is conjunct your natal Sun, making it even more personal and likely to be apparent.  In fact, I just talked to one of my granddaughters a moment ago who was born on that date and she just got some wonderful news about an educational opportunity coming her way, which certainly fits.

Since Mars stations RX the same day about 8 hours later the charts are nearly identical so bear in mind the lunation started something new that Mars will now influence as well.  Mars rules fellow Cardinal Sign, Aries, your 10th house of career, reputation, public image and status and is the traditional ruler of Scorpio, another Water Sign and your 5th house of creativity, children, romance, entertainment and speculation.  Mars is doing is RX gig in Libra, your 4th house of home environment, memories, cultural roots, endings and new beginnings, so any and all of these areas are likely to be involved.  At this point in order to understand Mars RX it would be helpful if you go here to learn more about this cycle that only occurs approximately every 26 months.  At the bottom is a table of dates that I recommend noting on your calendar.  Remember that the cosmic energy is out there and if you don't use it, it will use you so you'll want to take note of what days to pay attention to and take action as appropriate.  The first Sun - Mars trine is not included but occurred on February 14, i.e. Valentine's Day.  Think back, if you can, to that day to anything you may have been enthusiastic about which could turn out to be the main focus of this RX period, particularly if on March 1 there is some sort of reversal with what occurred at that time.  Check your 4th house first and then the 5th and 10th which are defined above if nothing immediately comes to mind.

Venus is squaring Mars from your 7th house of relationships which includes not only your significant other but close friends and relatives, business partners, business professionals, competitors and open enemies.  Venus rules your 4th and also your 11th of friends, groups and goals, which helps explain why you are prone to being nurturing and affectionate with family and friends.  Remember that Venus just came out of retrograde and the message she often bears is to identify what you value and care about enough to fight for, if necessary.  Thus this aspect suggests a possible conflict or challenge between either home or some activity you want to start and a close relationship. 

Now hold that thought as I move to Saturn stationing RX the next day on March 2.  Again, this chart is very similar except the Moon, your sign ruler, has moved into Aries, which gives it some emotional drive and energy which will come in handy in the weeks and months to come.  Saturn retrograde is notorious for instituting delays and obstacles.  He is in your 5ht house of creativity, ego definition, entertainment, children, romance and speculation which suggests what can best be described as a wet blanket effect on this part of your life.  When Saturn goes retrograde it usually stirs something up in your subconscious related to the house where he resides.  You probably won't be aware of what this might be other than perhaps a vague sense of restlessness.  When he stations direct on July 21 (right about when Mars comes out of his RX shadow) you are likely to figure out what this is and by the time Saturn is out of his RX shadow you should have the situation resolved, which will be toward the end of October.  This implies a connection between whatever Mars is up to in your 4th and restructuring something that could involve your ego in your 5th.  This all going to be operating for the next few months.

Jupiter stations direct on March 6.  As noted earlier, he's parked on your natal Sun if your birthday is July 3 and can bring a very pleasant burst of optimism and inspiration your way.  While RX he often relates to philosophical or ethics issues but his expansive and often lucky nature will return at this time.  His trine to Neptune and the Sun in Pisces will bring inspiration your way and also allow access to your subconscious which can help you get a hint or two regarding what Saturn might be stirring up.  Opportunities to transform a relationship are evident, perhaps as the result of something unexpected related to your career or status, but this aspect has been ongoing for a while though things may change slightly now that Jupiter has gone direct.  Another potential challenge has an emotional element to it, may involve your friends or goals, ties in Saturn's work with your ego or creative expression and also news or information that could have a transformational effect.  And all this within the first week of the month.

The Full Moon on March 16 is in Virgo, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  Typically a Full Moon brings an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase.  This one is loaded with quincunxes, an aspect that calls for an adjustment, change of course, or a need to justify your position.  They are uncomfortable and often unstable with an obviously solution unlikely.  Using your head, heart and instincts is favored in figuring it out, but don't be surprised if it has a strong or even profound impact on you and how you see the world. It is likely to even tie back to what Mars is up to, a work in progress that may still not be entirely evident.

The Sun goes into Aries on March 20 marking the beginning of a new season and the equinox when day and night are of equal length.  Overtones of a Cardinal Ingress chart are likely to be playing in the background for the entire season and are often significant in world events and even weather.  This one looks as if it holds some major surprises but another direct line to some inspiration to navigate them effectively.  Expect some important changes that have an emotional impact possibly on this day or perhaps spread over the coming three months.

The New Moon on March 30 is in Aries, your 10th house of career, status, reputation and public image suggesting new developments there which could be a surprise.  Your mental acuity should be strong and help with any decisions at this time and may also relate to whatever Saturn is remodeling in your 5th house of ego and creativity and all those other fun things included in this house.  Mars RX is likely to be evident in some important ways as well as Saturn, both of which have a positive feel in spite of any challenges or surprises.  If your birthday is right around July 1 this lunation is likely to have a stronger influence.  If you haven't already done so, be sure to go here to check out the particulars of Mars RX and mark those dates on your calendar for future reference and a few clues regarding what is going on if you don't already know.
