Lunations and Long-term Aspects

When I saw everything that's going on this month astrologically my first reaction was "Holy cow!"  Combined with a short month to get them done in time my next thought was "Holy" something else which is clearly not suitable for a family site, but you know what I mean.  This month there are three lunations again plus two retrograde stations and a direct station to say nothing of the upcoming Aries ingress, all worthy of significant comment.  So buckle up, I'll do my best to cover them in adequate detail without turning this into a dissertation-length expose.

The month starts out with not only a New Moon in Pisces but Mars stationing retrograde.  Actually, this is very convenient because the two charts are very similar even though the events occur approximately 8 hours apart.  The one thing to bear in mind is that while the New Moon only pertains until the next one occurs while the Mars station will be in effect for the entire retrograde period which lasts until May 20 with the shadow in effect until July.  You also need to read some background information on Mars RX which you can find here.  As explained in that article you'll want to mark your calendar for the Mars - Sun opposition on April 8; the station direct on May 20 and the Mars - Sun trine on May 31.  The first Mars trine mentioned in the article occurred on Valentine's day, February 14.  Think about anything of note that happened on that day because it's likely to be associated with this cycle.  So let's look at what's going on.  The fact that the New Moon is associated with this as well suggests that this will be something new coming into your life, not something that's been ongoing.

The lunation occurs in Pisces, your 2nd house of finances, income, possessions, needs, comforts and pleasures as well as what you value.  Just a quick note on that, remember that when Venus was RX during the last part of December and virtually all of January with her shadow in effect until March 5, that her mission often relates to what you value and are willing to fight for.  It's as if the planets are in some sort of retrograde relay this year which is a little unusual and worth paying attention to.  Retrograde motion internalizes the energy but in some cases will be quite effective in drawing thing to you, even if they seem similar to the feeling you get when the car in front of you suddenly slams on the brakes.\

Neptune is in wide but viable conjunction with the New Moon increasing its Piscean flavor.  This energy is often nebulous and can be everything from inspiration or delusional.  It's very other-worldly and often an illusion.  However, financial astrologer Christeen Skinner has said that Neptune is the planet that brings great wealth so on the positive side you can give that some thought.  If you're familiar with the several popular motivational speakers these days who explain how "thoughts become things" and how your subconscious drives your reality over and above what you want consciously you can see how this can work.  You have to imagine what you want and create a strong image of it in your mind, including your subconscious, in order to draw it to you.  This is an excellent time to put this concept to work.  It even has some additional help going for it from Jupiter who is trining the New Moon in the same degree and getting ready to station direction on March 6 in the same degree.  This can provide a significant boost.  Pluto is throwing some influence in there as well from your 12th house which includes your subconscious mind.  This can be extremely useful for letting go old subconscious paradigms that may be holding you back.  If you don't know how to get rid of such things it would be an excellent time to learn more about how it's done.  The link above to Robert Anthony is one option and a person I have learned a lot from.  Any links you find on this site that are NOT popups, which I do not endorse nor control, are people or businesses with whom I have done business and had a positive experience.

Mercury is now direct as of the end of February but in shadow until March 21, right about the time of the Aries ingress.  He is conjunct your natal Sun if your birthday is right around February 7 which can be of assistance to your mental acuity in figuring all this out.  Uranus in your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings and neighbors can contribute innovation and the ability to think outside the proverbial box, which Aquarians usually excel at, anyway, given he is your modern sign ruler.  Venus, ruler of your 4th house of home environment and new beginnings, is in your 12th house, also, which can be of assistance as well toward developing a new mindset.  Since so much of this energy has financial overtones, clearly this can bring in your career.  Saturn is in that house ready to help with restructuring.  He stations retrograde on March 2 with that chart also nearly the same except for the Moon going into Aries by then, but that should energize your thoughts and drive to go after what you want.

So far I haven't mentioned Mars so now let's see what's up with that retrograde.  He's in your 9th house of higher learning, other cultures, long-distance travel, legal matters and relocation.  He's in fellow Air Sign, Libra, and trines your natal Sun if your birthday is right around February 16, which will have a stronger influence.  This could mean that in order to move forward you need to consider going back to school or perhaps moving.  He's being squared by Venus in your 12th, however, which suggests you may have some self-doubts or other form of resistance to making a change in that direction.  Remember the old adage that "where there's a will, there's a way."  You're a fixed sign and don't like change particularly but unless you're entirely satisfied with the status quo then it will be required.  Another quote to mantrasize would be "If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep on getting what you've always got."  All these retrograde cycles can be very helpful in pulling all this together.

Saturn retrograde which occurs in your 10th house of career as noted earlier typically addresses restructuring something.  While retrograde this is often operating at the subconscious level which implies this phase will last well into July.  When he stations direct you should have a pretty clear picture of what needs to be done and by the time he comes out of shadow in the end of October you should be on your way.  If your birthday is right around February 12 this station squares your natal Sun and will have a stronger influence.

Jupiter stations direct on March 6 which will throw a burst of energy into your 6th house of work, health and pets.  Pay close attention to what happens at this time since it could give your confidence a boost as well as reactivate everything referred to above.  Resistance to change may continue to bite you as you get stuck on the various obstacles between you and your dreams.  Remember that this process being initiated is not one that will be accomplished overnight but be a step by step journey that proceeds over time, at least the better part of this year, until you're established on a new path.  Slow, deliberate, determined action will get you where you want to go without any uncomfortable whiplashes from a sudden change.  If your birthday is right around January 30 this station is quincunx your natal Sun which suggests a change of course or direction.

The Full Moon on March 16 is in Virgo, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death and rebirth (figurative as well as literal), things you suppress, shared resources and intense experiences.  A Full Moon typically indicates an ending or culmination which also points toward a new phase of life.  This can further support thoughts related to restructuring your career or status with your reputation and public image also possibilities for Saturn's work of restructuring.  Mars and Mercury are in cahoots which can help your think creatively toward attaining your goals and those things that will bring happiness.  A change of direction, perhaps a big one, is beckoning from the distance horizon.  It is up to you, however, to start moving toward it.

The Sun goes into Aries, marking the equinox and first day of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere and first day of Autumn in the Southern.  If your birthday is right around February 2 Venus is conjunct your natal Sun at this time which will increase your natural charm and make others receptive to you.  You may even find you look and feel better than usual which can encourage you to pursue a new idea which could also involve a new direction at work.  This is another time to make sure old demons such as a lack of confidence don't hold you back.  Inspiration related to money is possible which can also translate to visualizing what you want and, as noted above, help draw it to you.  If you don't know what you want it's not likely to simply fall in your lap.

The New Moon on March 30 is in Aries, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  Whatever this brings, especially if your birthday is right around January 29, it's likely to include both considerable innovation and possibly breaking away from something as well as a plethora of challenges to make it so.  This is when you need to remember those retrograde planets and what they're trying to tell you and direct your toward in the months to come.  If you haven't already done so, mark those dates related to Mars' retrograde trek in your calendar now and see what comes your way at that time.  Remember also that if you don't use the energy it will use you, so these are key dates to take action even if it's only at the mental level.  Consider this a time of identifying what you want and preparing to go after it.
