Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there is only one lunation to report on, a Full Moon on February 14, Valentine's Day in numerous parts of the world which gives it some interesting implications given this lunar phase typically indicates an ending, culmination or beginning of a new phase.  February gets short-changed thanks to the egos of various ancient Roman emperors and the like who "stole" days from February to beef up the number of days in their own namesake month such as July (Julius Caesar) and August (Caesar Augustus).  Some have speculated that the problem with the world today is its illogical approach to the calendar which certainly can't be argued much given the state of things but certainly isn't why you're reading this, philosophical soul though you may be.

I'll get to the Full Moon a bit later, first wanting to talk a bit about the Mercury retrograde station on February 6 since the station chart often lends clues to what this particular cosmic event is trying to say.  The station occurs at 03:20 Pisces which is in your 4th house of home environment, cultural roots, memories, endings and new beginnings.  If your birthday is right around November 26 then this station squares your natal Sun and will have additional meaning.  Bear in mind that Mercury retrograde spells typically indicate a time to rethink, reconsider and re-plan something that is not currently heading in the right direction.  Mercury is in debility as well as fall in Pisces where his usual hardline logic and fact-based energy is lost in a world that promotes intuition, imagination and visions which are antithetical to his nature.  Add retrograde to that and there's no telling what the result could be.  Either Mercury will be forced to see things from another dimension and receive an infusion of inspiration or be lost in space. 

Sometimes it's a good thing to set logic aside, especially if you tend to make decisions based on your head instead of your heart.  This is usually dependent on your Moon sign.  Since your heart is hardwired to your intuition it will usually guide you more effectively, even though there is certainly a place for logic as well.  The more effective tool is to learn to use them together.  This station might bring a blast of inspiration that leaves you somewhat amazed, perhaps to the point you tend to ignore it as delusion.  Maybe it is, maybe it's not, but whatever you do don't ignore it.  During this retrograde gig Mercury will eventually back up into Aquarius again, a nice, logical Air Sign that is also known for detachment and thus objectivity which can help you sort through it all and eventually figure it out.

As you may recall, Venus just came out of retrograde which occurred in your 2nd house of income, possessions, finances, needs, comforts and pleasures where her mission was to help you determine what you value most.  Once that's accomplished she can assist you with putting on your armor and going after what you want, even if it involves a fight.  When Venus goes retrograde she rises before the Sun, thus becoming what the ancients recognized as the Goddess of War.  With regard to the Mercury RX station chart she is in favorable aspect with the Moon in Taurus, your 6th house of work, health, daily activities and pets.  Seems to me a favorable aspect between your house of income and house of work is a good thing.  The Moon rules emotions and this looks as if pursuing something close to your heart in the work or project category will bring benefits of either a financial or emotional nature.  However, this won't necessarily be easy and will involve a variety of challenges.  Some of them will still be around for the Full Moon so I'll cover them below.  The challenges inherent in this one could involve a conflict between your subconscious, beliefs, incoming data and something related to work or health.  Now is a good time to examine your belief system for anything that needs to be changed due to new information or insights which certainly ties in nicely with the whole point of Mercury retrograde.  Following your heart is important so listen to what it has to say.

The Full Moon on February 14 is in fellow Fire Sign, Leo, your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, philosophy of life, other cultures, long-distance travel and relocation.  With this lunar phase associated with an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase it makes sense that you'll be making some changes to this part of your life.  These may be motivated by something in your subconscious or perhaps being held back from that venue.  The good news is that any incoming inspiration from Mercury RX may help you access your subconscious so you can confront it and deal with it, one way or the other.  By now Mercury RX is in your 3rd house of thought allowing logic to reign but hopefully incorporating any inspiration as well.  A mitigating factor could come from a friend or group association but could involve a goal as well.  Mars is in this venue which indicates taking action.  Being in Libra, this won't be unilateral but involve the cooperation or assistance from someone else.  This can also help get you past those other conflicts.  Perhaps a new friend has introduced you to some new information which will strongly influence those other ruminations.  if your birthday is right around December 18 your natal Sun is in favorable aspect to both the Sun and Moon which will give you the leverage you need to work through it.

That long-term T-square that is also present in the Mercury RX station chart involves your sign ruler, Jupiter, Uranus and Pluto.  While this T-square looks ominous as a transit, the fact of the matter is that for Fire Signs such as yourself it's not nearly as ominous.  If your birthday is right around December 3 then Uranus is trining your natal Sun from your 5th house of creativity, romance, ego definition, children, speculation and entertainment.  Uranus can be tremendously disruptive but he is also the ruler of innovation, breakthroughs and uniqueness which can certainly have a positive influence in this part of your life.  Jupiter is quincunx your Sun if your birthday is right around December 4.  This aspect calls for an adjustment or change of course which is often not what you expect.  Jupiter is in Cancer, sign of his exaltation and your 8th house of transformations, things you suppress and intense experiences.  This suggests something important is going to influence your life in an important way.  Pluto in your house of income, which will be long-lasting, is transforming this part of your life and this is part of this overall influence.  You are in the process of changing at a deep and lasting way which will bring some challenges but ultimately have beneficial results and have the potential to redefine your attitude and philosophy of life.  It's important to be open minded and as objective as possible to events and information coming you way which will assist you in this evolutionary journey.
