Lunations and Long-term Aspects

This month there is only one lunation to report on since February is a short month and January had three.  The Full Moon occurs on February 14, Valentines' Day in much of the world, but I'll get to that after covering the upcoming Mercury retrograde which begins February 6.  The station occurs at 03:20 Pisces and trines you natal Moon if your birthday is right around June 25, giving it stronger impact.  Mercury RX gets a lot of bad press, much of it from me, but there really is something to be said for it.  It's always good to take some time to ponder and rethink certain things and for Crabs those just might relate to your 9th house of beliefs, expectations, higher learning, legal matters, long-distance travel, religion, politics, or relocation.  Mercury is in a state known as debilitated as well as in fall in Pisces where his logical tendencies get fogged over.  You would think that between that and being retrograde that rational thinking is as good as gone and that is one possible way it could manifest, especially with Mercury conjunct Neptune as well.  However, the positive manifestation of Neptune and Pisces is related to inspiration, insight, enlightenment and accessing your subconscious mind.  As a Water Sign you are already fairly intuitive, so this placement could provide an excellent environment for you to wax philosophical and decide whether any of your long-held beliefs could stand some tweaking based on new information and experiences.

Venus went direct the end of January so now her retrograde message begins to surface as well.  She spent her entire RX period in Capricorn, your polar sign and 7th house of close relationships which include your significant other, business partners, business professionals, close friends and relatives and competitors.  Two of the most fundamental messages Venus leans toward while RX include a close assessment of what you value as well as putting on your armor and fighting for what you want.  Put that into the context of your 7th house and see what it brings.  if your birthday is right around July 4 Venus opposes your natal Sun for the Mercury station which will emphasize her message as well and could help target where that inspiration and reconsideration needs to be directed.  Pluto is in your house of relationships as well which will last for years.  During this time you can expect to see many of your relationships go through a major transformation.  This could be particularly emphasized at this time for those of you born around July 2.  Jupiter is in your neighborhood as well and conjunct the Sun of those born right around July 3.  More on this under the Full Moon as well but the rethinking portion of Mercury RX is likely to be directed toward these areas.

Your sign ruler, the Moon, is in Taurus for the Mercury Station, your 11th house of friends, groups, organizations, networking, goals, hopes and wishes and trining Venus in your 7th.  Considering Venus' message this could indicate something like someone who has heretofore been a casual friend becoming closer and more important in your life.  There are some challenges with this station including the need to make some important life-changes.  These won't necessarily be easy and will probably also require an extra shot of discipline and maturity.  If you have some special project you want to work on it could also involve bringing in someone to partner with you that could be a blocked in some way by your ego.  Mercury will be retrograde the rest of the month and be in the post-retrograde shadow period until March 21.

The Full Moon, which typically indicates an ending, culmination or shift to a new phase, occurs on February 14 which has some interesting implications for Valentine's Day.  Some possibilities include for one that your significant other disappoints you so much you give him or her the heave-ho.  Another one is that what has been a casual relationship becomes more serious and committed.  It could also trigger a conversation about responsibility and obligations that could result in some challenges to meet.  Taking action on a new beginning is favored and is going to involve rethinking the situation and making a few changes, perhaps big ones.  By this time Venus is opposing your Sun if your birthday is right around July 10.  More challenges could come from disruptions or a hectic pace that relates to your career or status and makes it more difficult to balance important relationships.  Jupiter is still in your sign and those born July 3 are still under the most influence.  Jupiter in your 1st house can be quite lucky and a time to pursue what you want.  It can open you to new experiences and opportunities as well as seeing yourself in a new, expansive way.  There are numerous challenges out there which will benefit greatly from careful consideration which Mercury is well-suited to provided.
