Lunations and Long-term Aspects First order of business this month is to mention that Venus goes retrograde in fellow Air Sign, Gemini, on May 15. If your birthday is within a day or so of February 13 she will station retrograde in a trine with your natal Sun. Gemini is your 5th house, sometimes referred to as the "Fun House" since it comprises a variety of rather pleasant things such as your ego definition, creativity, self-expression, entertainment, lovers, children, and speculation. Venus retrograde typically relates to what you value which is commonly love and money which will in turn tie in with something in your 5th with some influence on your 4th house of home environment, memories and endings and 9th house of beliefs and expectations. I know it gets complicating tying all those houses together but they are all likely to have some part of them involved. For example, maybe you've been spending too much money on something in this part of your life whether it's your children, speculative ventures or having fun which in turn impacts your home in some way as well as your beliefs and expectations. This won't necessarily be a difficult transit, but it will definitely highlight something going on in this part of your life such that you reconsider a few things related to it. More information about what you can expect from Venus retrograde can be found here. Also note that sometimes retrograde planets bring something to your attention which you need to reconsider. This frequently will relate to something that occurred about two years ago when Venus was retrograde the last time which was between October - November 2010, so look to there for anything that is recurring from that time. The Full Moon on May 5th is in fellow Fixed Sign, Scorpio, your 10th house of career, reputation, status and public image. Watch for something to end, culminate or shift to a new phase in this part of your life, remembering that "status" is a pretty broad category which comprises anything that might appear in the public record (including Facebook) or newspaper. The Sun is in Taurus, bringing your 4th house of home and family into it as well. With the Sun conjunct one of the numerous Lilith entities you could find some of her characteristics in there as well, such as a borderline obsession with independence or getting your way though this could also reflect in someone you encounter with those traits as well. One of the aspect patterns associated with this lunation is a triangle of potential comprising Venus, Mercury and Saturn. Venus, as noted earlier, is in Gemini, your 5th house of self-expression and so forth. Mercury is in Aries, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, neighbors and siblings and Saturn is in Libra, your 9th house of higher learning, beliefs, expectations, legal matters, other cultures, long-distance travel, relocation, religion and politics. Venus is at the apex and thus the way to mitigate and balance the other two which suggest news or information of your own or through a neighbor or sibling which creates some sort of situation with regard to your beliefs or other 9th house matter. Thus the key to balancing this challenge lies with Venus, who like Nationwide insurance, is on your side, for this lunation. This is a clear signal to take matters into your own hands and make the best possible decision, though when Venus goes retrograde a week or so later you may reverse that decision. Hahaha, sorry, but that's the way it is with planets and their various vicissitudes. (Along those lines, I, personally, have a bone to pick with Mars about some rather expensive items I bought during his retrograde period in 2010 that I now find myself wishing I'd never attained.) Another interesting aspect pattern involves Mars, Pluto and Uranus. Mars just came out of retrograde in Virgo, your 8th house of transformations, death and regeneration, sex, debt, shared resources, and intense experiences. You might think about whether you recently encountered something from your past, i.e. around December 2009 through early March 2010 which you had to readdress. (Also remember that Mars in the 8th can sometimes predispose you to accidents so be a little more careful than usual during this time which will last until early July.) Pluto is in Capricorn, your 12th house of angels and demons which includes transcendence, enlightenment, inspiration, dreams, seclusion, confinement, institutions, hidden enemies and self-undoing as well as the collective consciousness. The implications between Mars and Pluto are certainly fairly favorable in that you are likely to unearth some inspiration or "Aha!" moment that relates to that transformation or other 8th house matter. The final planet in this grouping is Uranus who's in Aries, your 3rd house of thoughts and ideas as noted earlier. Tying these three together suggests that a sudden thought or idea is going to undergo a change of direction based on something from your past or perhaps you'll have a different take on something due to new valuable insights. Mercury and Saturn are in opposition suggesting the need to balance something that relates to a current idea or perhaps a neighbor or sibling and ties in with your beliefs and expectations. This could mean that someone disappoints you and puts you back to the drawing board with regard to what you expected versus what you got. The New Moon on May 20 is also a solar eclipse, giving it additional punch with both its affect and duration; an eclipse's effects can manifest a long as a year or longer after it occurs which makes it a real challenge to track. This one occurs in Gemini, your 5th house again, and thus is in cahoots with Venus retrograde. Now is the time to think about all those 5th house matters noted in the first paragraph and then keep a close watch on them. Venus is in favorable aspect with Saturn in your 9th house of beliefs and expectations which shows a positive correlation. Jupiter and Mercury are in Taurus, your 4th house of home environment, memories and endings which suggest important news in that part of your life which will also impact your beliefs and expectations such that they may change a bit. Be cautious with your money, however, because if you're too indulgent some of it may do a real disappearing act. Nonetheless, a lucky break at work could manifest which has a favorable impact on your view of the world. |
