Lunations and Long-term Aspects

The Full Moon on March 8 is in Virgo, your 8th house of transformations, sex, death, intense experiences, debt and other people's money.  If your birthday is right around February 8 this lunation will provide a nudge in a slightly different direction, perhaps in a rather obvious manner.  Given that the Sun is in Pisces, your 2nd house of finances, possessions, values, comforts, needs and pleasures this part of your life is likely to combine with the 8th to effect some sort of adjustment.  These could go either way, favorable or challenging, with a quincunx.  For those of you born right around January 24 your sign ruler, Uranus, is sextile your natal Sun which could bring some surprise opportunities, perhaps in the form of an idea.  A sibling or neighbor may also be involved.  Uranus can bring all sorts of surprises and hopefully it will be of the pleasant variety with a sextile.  Personally I've had Uranus squaring my natal Sun and the results have been rather disruptive, which is pretty typical for that planet.

There is a Grand Earth Trine in effect all month which involves Jupiter, retrograde Mars and Pluto and may bring resolution of something your way.  These planets are occupying your 4th, 8th and 12th houses respectively which are known as the "endings" houses or as Stephen Arroyo calls them, the "psychic trinity."  Growing experiences at the emotional and soul level are encouraged but such energy.  Your 4th house comprises your home environment, past and present, as well as memories and cultural roots.  Jupiter in that environment will have an expansive effect, perhaps making you more aware of something related to this part of your life.  Jupiter rules your 11th house of friends and goals so this area may be involved as well.  The 8th is defined above.  Mars retrograde in that venue calls for a bit of caution since Mars in the 8th can predispose you to accidents.  In Virgo these are likely to involve mechanical failures so make sure you car is well-maintained as well as anything else with moving parts which could cause injury.  Be especially careful if you deal with such things as saws or knives.  The 12th is the "angels and demons" house which represents everything from inspiration dreams, and enlightenment to self-defeating behaviors and hidden enemies.  Seclusion, confinement and institutions reside there as well.  Pluto in that environment established by Capricorn will affect your very foundation in that part of your life. 

An example of how this Grand Trine could operate could involve getting involved in researching your genealogy and discovering something about one of your progenitors which has a deep and lasting effect upon you to the point of attaining a deep and profound understanding of yourself or perhaps someone else.  A Grand Trine represents harmonious energy between the planets but does not necessarily mean that it will manifest in an overly favorable manner.  With two malefics in this triad, i.e. Mars and Pluto, it's a bit of a crap shoot how it will turn out.  Nonetheless its affect is likely to be profound and potentially life-changing, at least at the emotional level.  Sudden or unexpected news or information which relates to something formerly hidden could come your way at this time which will precipitate this process.  Bear in mind that the most fundamental purpose of a Full Moon is to designate a culmination, ending or shift to a new phase and in your 8th this indicates some sort of transformation.

This lunation also comprises a Triangle of Potential which may also relate to the Grand Trine though it could just as easily represent an entirely separate event or situation.  This aspect pattern comprises an opposition which is mediated by a planet in a location which creates a sextile and trine with the two planets.  The opposition involves Venus in Taurus, your 4th house of home environment and so forth, and Saturn, retrograde in fellow Air Sign, Libra, your 9th house of higher learning, legal matters, beliefs and expectations, philosophy of life, long-distance travel and relocation.  Venus is in dignity in Taurus, allowing her energy to manifest in a manner which could bring additional material security to your home life or perception of your past.  Her placement in your 4th along with Jupiter should bring good things your way in this part of your life.  The opposition to Saturn, in the sign of his exaltation, suggests a restructuring is in progress with regard to your beliefs or something else related to your 9th house.  Sometimes these two matters will be fighting against each other or perhaps simply competing for your time and attention.  Maybe you are tied up with obligations related to the 9th while you would really prefer to spend more time with family.  Neptune, now established in Pisces, sign of his rulership for the long-haul, is in your 2nd house of finances, income, comforts and so forth and provides the outlet or means to resolve the conflict.  Neptune provides inspiration but avoid being too idealistic.  All of these planets are in a sign where they can operate very well and manifest their energy in an uninhibited manner which suggests you'll be able to figure this out in a satisfactory manner.

The New Moon on March 22 is in Aries, your 3rd house of thoughts, ideas, siblings, neighbors and local travel.  There is a lot of energy in Aries at this time with the Sun, Moon, Mercury and your Sign Ruler, Uranus all in that sign.  On March 12th Mercury goes retrograde, which combined with Mars retrograde is going to make for what could be a very frustrating time which for you is likely to be concentrated in your 3rd house.  The general message of Mercury RX is to rethink, re-plan, reconsider, or re-do.  Mars RX in your 8th is pushing for a new approach to something that involves stopping your current mode of operation and considering whether it is taking you where you want.  Saturn, also retrograde, is about restructuring and is likely to relate to your beliefs or expectations in some way.  The simplest way to look at this is to stop, rethink, and then make it so.  Also remember that the Grand Trine described above is still in effect.

This month looks like an important time of change and adjustment which will ultimately provide a stronger foundation for you at the most fundamental level.  Moving forward is likely to be thwarted during this time so accept it and use the time to rethink anything that isn't progressing as you would like.  Examine your existing philosophy of life, expectations of others, and what means the most to you and then use this month's cosmic energy to effect any appropriate change.
